Rye - Leawood Ratings and Reviews
We have been to Rye several times - it's a favorite of ours. However, this was our first time here for brunch with friends. Table enjoyed their drinks. Cinnamon roll was AMAZING (and huge)! Two of us had the eggs benedict - yummy and cooked perfectly. Another had the burnt ends hash which we all agreed was delicious and something I would definitely order myself in the future. Husband had the burger, which he said was just OK, nothing special. Will definitely return for brunch and look forward to trying some of the other breakfast items and pastries.
Seating on the bench is awful when another couple is seated next to you. Dinner for two was 179. Including tip. Steak was full of fat and cold. We had to send it back.
Probably won’t go back. The best part of our meal was the house salad, it was dressed perfect. And our server was outstanding.
We were so disappointed. We have dined at Rye before and have recommended it to friends because we loved it, after this experience we no longer will. We ordered two different pork dishes, my fiances was so under done it looked like it was raw, mine was the special and was so dry and over cooked it looked like it had been kept warm under a hot light for hours.
Our waitress rarely checked on us, didn't go through the specials we had to get her attention to get drinks more than once, incorrectly told us they were out of the bourbon we asked for and generally spent more time talking behind the bar with coworkers then helping.
We were seated in the back room which has the lights on like it is a cafeteria. Our bread came shortly before dinner arrived, cold.
It was like eating at a TGIF not a nice restaurant. Rye - you are getting this review so you read, listen and retrain. This was our valentine's treat for ourselves, you couldn't have done a worse job.
Rye is one of our favorite places in the KC area. However, this experience fell way short of what we have come to expect when dining here. From the beginning the service seemed rush. After ordering our meal our salads came almost immediately which wasn’t bad except that was followed shortly by our entree. We had not even finished half of our salads before the entree arrived. Our steaks arrived barely warm with the underside of the steak charred. This was all I tasted while eating the steak. The sides were average and the dessert was excellent as usual. Overall, the food and service left a lot to be desired. I honestly hate leaving this type of review but I do in hope that adjustments will be made. I hope that our next experience there will be better although we might think twice about our dinner spot instead of immediately booking at Rye.
I was pleasantly surprised after eating the burnt end open faced sandwich. I thought the pieces were soft, not chewy and definitely not fatty. I didn’t care much for the bbq sauce, but obviously that is a personal preference. I have my favorite sauces, but not here. The fries and ketchup were also excellent choices.
Worse service we have ever had! Prime rib was all fat and tendons for $36. Chicken was dry. Had to ask for water to be refilled after 15 Min with nothing to drink. Another waiter got it for us. Took our waitress about twenty minutes to box up our leftovers that I ended up throwing away. I will never return nor tell friends to go there. Very bad experience and way over priced.
Very good food; local and fresh; had the fried chicken based on others who have tried it; fresh chicken, cooked just right with light crispy breading, not greasy: Scruptious! Comes with mash taters, gravy and greens. A little pricey for lunch, but considering the neighborhood about what you would expect. I'd go again..
I dined with a party of four over lunch on a weekday. The service was impeccable; the server was appropriately attentive, taking our orders and refilling our water without delays. Some of us requested dishes that were not on the menu but were comprised of ingredients on other dishes on the menu; that was no problem at Rye! Had a wonderful time and will definitely return.
Food was unbelievable!! Our group ordered fried chicken, shrimp and grits, and short rib bucatini. All were amazing! Our favorite was the whipped goat cheese.
Adding to the experience was our server, Matthew, who is an awesome and knowledgeable service professional!! Would request him in the future for sure!
It was amazing once again! The most consistent restaurant in Kansas. I usually order the salmon and it is always cooked perfectly and exactly the same every time. We love the ambiance, which it’s really hard to find good ambiance in Overland Park. We had a great waiter this time. He asked questions, was personable and was very self aware. We hopefully we will be back again soon:)
Truly had no idea what to expect and had been meaning to try it for some time. We were not disappointed at all. The food was absolutely delicious (I had a pasta dish that immediately became one of my top favorites ever), the wait staff was wonderful and the dessert was amazing. If I could've gotten away with licking the plates clean, I totally would have. Thank you, Rye. It was a wonderful experience.
