Rye - Leawood Ratings and Reviews
Have dined at the restaurant serveral times in the past and have enjoyed. Unfortunately, Rye missed the mark this time. Our party of four was seated promptly but waited ten minutes for server to make initial hello and fill water glasses. Placed an appetizer , coffee & one mix drink order. Server showed back up about ten minutes later to take our order but with none of the ordered items. Coffee was delivered by another server a few moments later.
Main entree arrived about 15 minutes later. The appetizer was delivered as our waitress was placing the entrees. No apology made the the item failed to show before the main meal. Reminded the server we were still missing a bar drink. Mid meal the drink arrived by another server. Coffee refill was never offered.
Saw what appeared to be a manager circulating around the tables but never stop to ask how our meal was.
Not in a hurry to return.
Rye was terrific. We sat and talked with friends for quite awhile. We apologized for keeping the table so long and Rye was very gracious about it (there wasn't anyone waiting but I still felt bad about tying up the table). I highly recommend it!! The food was delicious and the server was delightful.
We meet friends at Rye this past Friday evening and were disappointed at the lack of information concerning your gluten free selection. When asking our server she was unsure and didn't find out the information and return to us. It was difficult to order a meal and have a pleasurable evening when we weren't sure if the food would cause my friend to become ill. I expected more from a restaurant of your reputation.
I took a friend from out of town to dinner. Food was great, service was exceptional. I ordered a piece of pumpkin pie for dessert to share. The portion was a sliver, half the size of a normal piece. I told the waiter the pie was excellent but for the price they charged, was too small. He said he would tell the manager - simply meant it as a suggestion. The manager was apologetic & sent me home with another piece - nice gesture. I also think the price of their sides is high - $8.50 - about double what the Bristol charges for theirs - $4-5.
Food and service was Great!! Even with a reservation got put in the farthest corner of the restaurant in the overflow room. Never been sat back there. Definitely not the greatest ambience back there. Much better in the dining room area with view of the open kitchen and better vibes. With that being said the service was still great! Would definitely wait a little longer for the main dining room area of you are going to Rye.
Thanks for a great time & great food! The fried chicken is as good as Grandma’s and we had a wonderful birthday meal together as friends and coworkers! Rachel was very attentive and did a great job taking care of us! What a blessing this was! We will be back!
Was out of two of the dishes on the. menu, wait staff failed to inform us of this until it was time to order. Had to come back twice as we had to review the menu twice. I had the pork chop, way undercooked. Wife had chicken with a loaded bake potato. The cheese on the potato was not melted and potato felt cold. For the price, it was a complete disappointment. Not a place we will visit again.
First time here with friends and to say this place made a great first impression would be selling it short. The place is simply beautiful when you walk in and the staff is very friendly. The food was fantastic and I would say the chicken is as advertised. The chicken and dumplings was just like how grandma made. Craft cocktails are great.. try the old old fashion or the mulled wine.
We brought friends with us to Rye..it was their first time to dine there and they enjoyed the atmosphere and food just as much as we did. The food was excellent as well as the service. Two of us had the Scotch salmon and substituted the rice for spaghetti squash which was spectacular! I had requested a booth and was pleased that we were able to get one!
Service was slow. More importantly the food was just okay. There is not much value here. They think highly of their main course and give you little or nothing on the side, and if so it's not much, even when included with your entree. My fish was okay, but nothing special. And the rice that was with it was definitely nothing to write home about, I even think it was under cooked. Should rice be crunchy? Better to spend this amount of money elsewhere.
I had only been to Rye for lunch before and was anxious to try it out for dinner. Happy to get an outside table - it was a very pleasant evening and, frankly the inside of the restaurant was very noisy and very cold. Our waiter seemed pretty knowledgeable and made some great recommendations - but follow up service was very slow for our drinks and food. Drinks and wine were good; salad and sides were delicious, and my friend's trout was excellent . However the ribeye steak that my husband and I shared, as welll as the ribeye my friend ordered, was nothing short of terrible. For $50 at a restaurant that prides itself on locally grown fare, I expect a pretty darn good steak. I ordered mine medium rare and it was barely seared on the outside and completely raw on the inside. Since my husband and I were sharing, we had cut it in half which is the way that brought it back to the table - I honestly expected a new steak. It was adequately cooked the second time around but it was the toughest steak I've ever ordered in a restaurant. When I mentioned to our waiter that it wasn't really up to par he didn't ask any questions, appogizr or offer another option - he just moved on to dessert and after dinner drinks. Just thought the owners should know - I really expected better food and service from this place. If I go back I surely won't order a steak!
The food was good. The service was perhaps appropriate for the environment - always interesting with your server leads with "And we have no specials" and walks away. We tried both the hanger steak entrees. They were both good. It was seriously packed - tables very close to each other and incredibly loud. I'm not sure if we actually heard each other or not during lunch. The pricing was a bit higher than the quality in my opinion - I did not find the menu incredibly special. For all the discussion about using local seasonal veggies and what not - I think that was probably impossible. It appeared to include completely out of season produce. Not sure where the steak came from - nothing fancy there. It was a decent lunch - I would not recommend due to the noise.
Normally we have a great meal at Rye... But this time my wife's Chicken Salad was not good. The greens were dressed with a cloyingly sweet vinaigrette... And there were potatoes in the salad, and not good ones. Very underseasoned potatoes. My Steak & Eggs was excellent. It's a fabulous restaurant, and we will return, but that chicken salad needs serious recipe revamp!
Less than stellar service. Made a reservation for 6 and called to see if I could change to 8 kind of last minute and they couldn’t accommodate which was not a big deal but the guy who answered the phone hung up on me and I needed to call back and make sure I still had at least my reservation for 6.
While at the restaurant the waitress was border line rude and seemed as though she did not enjoy her job at all. I was surprised at her lack of menu knowledge.
The food was ok. For the price I expected quite a bit better. I have eaten here in the past and had a decent experience but I doubt I return unless it is to just have a few drinks at the bar.
