Rye Ratings and Reviews
What a great surprise! Been coming to Williamsburg from the other side of the bridge (LES) for the last 10 years or so and can’t believe we never ate here! Had heard of it but thought it was a super high-end, fancy place. Instead it was a wonderful, warm and cozy place with high-end quality food and drink but not a snooty atmosphere at all. Our server was terrific, super knowledgeable and friendly and the food was amazing! Still dreaming of those grilled artichokes, cauliflower gratin and meatloaf sandwich. Oh and the donuts and homemade ice cream weren’t too terrible either. Look forward to our return.
I've taken my staff here for a Holiday meal two years now and they never disappoint. I also do birthdays, dates and general everyday dining here. Excellent cocktails and food. The Pickles are particularly good and always an eye-opener for those who haven't tried them before. I love the bar it's just beautiful and while the barmen can be on the gruff side—never effusive— but they are bearded and professional in a too old to be hipster way lends the place a very masculine American feel.
great vibe , good food but not very clean. needs an overhaul...dim lighting couldn't hide the stains on wall's. Very dirty mildewy smell by the bar....Hostess was great, server was amazing bartender lacked personality. Also to 86 any entree on a Saturday is a huge industry no no. The only fish entree was sold out by 8:15...not a good look.
I went on a cold and busy Saturday night where diners were flooding the hostess area. Despite the fact that the hostess was obviously overloaded, she was incredibly nice and sat us at a great booth in the back. Food and drinks were impeccable. I though it was a great spot for a date that isn’t overly fancy with great food and character.
The staff was in general nice and the food was really good - but they were just too busy. We had to wait an hour for our table that we had reserved (and we weren't the only one), in general it look a long time to get our order in and recieve our food and drinks. At one point the waiter accidentally spilled hot coffee down one of our friends back. Overall they gave us a 4 dollar discount (on a black coffee they had forgot that we had ordered)...
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Rye. The atmosphere is subtle, cozy and a respectful nod to the past. The bar is worth the visit alone. The food was simply elegant and delicious. The staff superb. If we lived closer it would be one of our regular spots. If you are in Brooklyn, don't miss Rye.
Rye is all around an incredible experience! The ambiance is cozy. Great for a date night and small groups. Decor and music takes you back to the Prohibition era. The Old Fashioned is superb, and the food is top notch. Small portions, but packed with flavor!
Loved the experience at Rye. First date on a Friday night. We had the smoked sturgeon and she had the short ribs and I had the ravioli. They made a really great spicy jalapeño margarita as well. The place is a bit dark but sets the mood and service and food were great. Would definitely recommend.
It took about 45 minutes to get any food at all on the table and it was not remotely crowded when we were there. Then, the food was just ok. The short ribs were undercooked and chewy. Roasted chicken was fine, but sides pretty boring. The mac-n-cheese and au gratin cauliflower were the best things, and that was due to the bacon. The waitress asked us how our food was, and we responded that the short ribs were chewy, she simply looked at us and walked away, no response.
Will not go back.
This was a lovely, quaint little place. The dishes were well done and delicious. The waitstaff were very friendly and thoughtful- they did a little something extra special for my birthday. It was a unique spot and very worthwhile. I would highly recommend it!
Another excellent meal at Rye, it never disappoints. My duck was cooked perfectly, the brussel sprouts and beet salad were delicious for shared appetizers. Very nice ambiance. I think the quality in Williamsburg is very mixed and Rye stands out. Highly recommend.
