Ryan's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This is an old standby in the Winston Salem dining scene. I personally thought everything was excellent in a kind of retro 70's style. You should ask to be seated next to the window .Although other people have raved about the she crab soup, I think it was just OK. However, both my steak au louvre and my sister's lobster were first rate. My brother asked for his steak "medium" and that is the way it came. If you want rare meat, be sure to order it that way. We will be back!
Wife’s birthday so I made a reservation in advance notifying them of the occasion hoping I’d get a nice table. Instead we were placed in a corner in the restaurants upper main level. Not exactly overwhelmed. Service was adequate but not what I’d expect out of a fine dining establishment. Food was very good except our bacon wrapped scallops. Scalloped were very small in comparison for the amount of bacon they were wrapped in. The Wagyu steak and prime rib were however delicious, but I’d expect so considering what you will pay.
Anniversary dinner. Service was top rate. Very nice wine list. The grouper was cooked perfectly and the oysters perfect. My wife had the rack of lamb and said it was delicious. Their key lime pie is made in house and very good. Our favorite place for special occasions.
We were there on New Year's Eve so the noise level was high due to so many people and excited. It was our anniversary as well. The food was very good, but feel that it is way over priced. They did offer duck breasts, which I didn't get, but is a nice touch on the menu. The only negative really was price.
Group of six friends before the Symphony New Years Eve concert. Great food and service at a very busy time for any restaurant. Ryan's handled everything down to the timely check with grace and dispatch. Great night had by all and all wondered why we don't get there more often.
I eat at Ryan's whenever I get to the area. I have always found the food, service and atmosphere fantastic. This last visit my son and I were seated in a quiet section next to the Windows. About 15 minutes later a large group of 12 were seated next to us. They were a family celebrating a birthday I believe and they were very loud. This was very disappointing. We quickly finished our meal so we could leave. When you eat at Chili's you expect a loud environment. At Ryan's you expect and pay for an upscale experience.
Service was fantastic! Mary made the evening special. The food was very good, I was disappointed with the way my steak was cooked, (grilled), quality was very good, lobster was fantastic. Popcorn grits were amazing, dessert was very middle of the road. Great evening with family, Mary really was excellent.
Your food is as always, incredible. I had scallops and have never - ever tasted scallops that good! Your chef must be an artist. Our server, James, was a fine young man who was very attentive and kind. He was gracious when I interrupted his flow. He stopped, made eye contact with me and listened. His work was perfect and made our meal very pleasant. Sometimes serving staff hovers and thinks that's good service but I noticed that James would swing by the table, look at our plates and approach us with a relaxed pace. Please take good care of him and let him know that his personality and service compliments the food at Ryan's
My wife and I had another in a long line of excellent meals at Ryan’s on 12/23. The steaks were perfectly cooked and beautiful cuts. Service was spot on and the ambiance allows a quiet conversation. No fusion mash ups (which can be fun and interesting), just an old fashioned top notch steakhouse experience.
