Ryan's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Despite the rigors associated with entertaining a huge number of diners on Valentine's Evening, Ryan's, again, proved why they are the best restaurant in the area. We were seated on time, and received impeccable service. The food was prepared to the tee and delivered to our table piping hot. We had prime filet mignon, lobster tail, and prime rib. All the entrees, sides, and desserts were perfect. Again, I highly recommend Ryan's and look forward to my next chance to dine there.
We enjoyed the duck, scallops and grouper. Also, one of the teenagers with us claimed that the grilled chicken she added to her Caesar salad was the very best EVER and we all had to try a bite! :-)
But above all, Pamela, who waited on us made the night perfect!! Her demeanor, gracious smile and patience are a blessing! She served the 4 of us for dinner then generously moved with us to a table of 8 when friends joined us! (20th Anniversary)
It was a very special night with delicious food, perfect wines and exceptional service.
If you have a review from someone else that night complaining about the noise level, that's probably my fault as my son was quick to point out that I was laughing too loud and getting stink eye from our neighbors. Oh well - sorry we were SO happy!!
Everything was fine. Checking out with a gift card was a little awkward as I was not given an opportunity to add gratuity to my card before final check came. Maybe that could be smoothed over before we arrive on 12 March for our anniversary dinner on the same gift card.
Dined at Ryan's for my parents 50th anniversary. Had a party of 9 and it was fantastic. Service and food were great. I would highly recommend Ryan's for anyone celebrating a special occasion. Everyone loved their meal. We for 9 for 9 is completely satisfied patrons.
The service was amazing. Glenn is always wonderful and knowledgeable. The special was barrel fish and it was very delicious. My husband had brisket which was also wonderful. I just wish they would have gluten free bread or more gluten free appetizers and desserts.
I used to come here growing up in Winston Salem and remember it being very good. This visit, I have to say, the food was not great. My steak had very little flavor, but it was very tender which was good. I had scalloped potatoes for my side, and these also had very little flavor. The crème brulee was cold on the inside and tasted burnt instead of caramelized. This was my first visit back to Ryan's since I was younger, but I would say that I would probably go somewhere else next time. It wasn't terrible, but for the price, I expect a lot better food. On a good note, we did have great service.
We made a reservation for my birthday and requested a cozy table by the window. We arrived and our table was ready and it was in a perfect spot right by a window. Our server Stephanie was exceptional and the food was outstanding as always. Can't wait to go back!
The waiter was helpful in suggesting a wine choice. My mahi special and my husband’s sirloin entrees’ were delicious, as was the pretzel bread with cheese spread. The shrimp cocktail and scallop appetizer were average. The waiter forgot my husband’s salad but complemented us a piece of chocolate cake to take home. The white chocolate raspberry cheesecake and coffee for dessert were the perfect ending to a lovely meal.
I took my husband to Ryan's for his birthday. He wanted a good steak and I had heard that Ryan's was one of the best. My husband's prime rib was so good, and he got a squash soup that was outstanding. I had the argula salad which was so original and was a small meal in itself. The staff is very focused on their customers but without being stuffing. We had a beautiful view overlooking the stream with just a trace of snow left. What a nice night for a leisurely dinner. I highly recommend it and plan to go back with friends.
The food was good and the service was excellent. However, we were seated right beside a party of 20. As such, the noise was quite loud and the experience not as pleasant as it has been at other times. I believe large groups are quite common at this restaurant, so you need to be careful where you are seated. We made our reservations late, so we did not have much choice. This still remains one of our favorite restaurants for a nice meal that is usually relaxing.
Took my wife out for her birthday dinner. The food was good and the service was good but unfortunately we were seated in a small back room with a party of about 20 people who were noisy and loud. Not what I had in mind. The room could have been arranged differently so this group could have been seated at the back of the room instead of seated along the length of the room. Overall a costly, unpleasant experience.
This is an old standby in the Winston Salem dining scene. I personally thought everything was excellent in a kind of retro 70's style. You should ask to be seated next to the window .Although other people have raved about the she crab soup, I think it was just OK. However, both my steak au louvre and my sister's lobster were first rate. My brother asked for his steak "medium" and that is the way it came. If you want rare meat, be sure to order it that way. We will be back!
Wife’s birthday so I made a reservation in advance notifying them of the occasion hoping I’d get a nice table. Instead we were placed in a corner in the restaurants upper main level. Not exactly overwhelmed. Service was adequate but not what I’d expect out of a fine dining establishment. Food was very good except our bacon wrapped scallops. Scalloped were very small in comparison for the amount of bacon they were wrapped in. The Wagyu steak and prime rib were however delicious, but I’d expect so considering what you will pay.
Anniversary dinner. Service was top rate. Very nice wine list. The grouper was cooked perfectly and the oysters perfect. My wife had the rack of lamb and said it was delicious. Their key lime pie is made in house and very good. Our favorite place for special occasions.
We were there on New Year's Eve so the noise level was high due to so many people and excited. It was our anniversary as well. The food was very good, but feel that it is way over priced. They did offer duck breasts, which I didn't get, but is a nice touch on the menu. The only negative really was price.
Group of six friends before the Symphony New Years Eve concert. Great food and service at a very busy time for any restaurant. Ryan's handled everything down to the timely check with grace and dispatch. Great night had by all and all wondered why we don't get there more often.
