We have two private dining rooms that are the perfect place to host any event, from an intimate family gathering to a large company party. The Essex room is for more moderately sized parties, and can easily accommodate groups of up to 25 guests. The Miller room is for more substantially sized parties, and is able to accommodate groups of up to 40 guests. If neither room is sufficiently sized to hold your event on its own, the collapsible wall that separates them can be stowed away, and this extended space will accommodate up to 65 guests. The 80 inch HD TVs located behind sliding walls in each room are ideal for any presentation needs you may have. Our first time. We made reservations for my husband’s birthday. We arrived on time and waited about 5 minutes to be seated. Our waitress was excellent. I ordered the prefix dinner; medium cooked steak and lobster tail, mashed potatoes, Caesar salad and for dessert a mini cheesecake with berries. My husband ordered the medium well cooked 11 Oz filet with a plain baked potato, and brussell sprouts to share. Both steaks were over cooked but tender. The brussell sprouts were burned to a crisp and barely edible. They took that off of our bill. Service was great!!! Food was ok. I expected better meals for the price we paid. I want to like them! We will give them another try.

I was a little disappointed with the menu. No Broccoli? No Steak Fries? We always get sautéed broccoli and they didn’t offer it. Only creamed spinach (my husband is lactose intolerant) asparagus and Brussel Sprouts. Broccoli or some sort of bean would have been great.

My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. Our first time at Ruth's and we had a great experience. Service was quick and John our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered prix fixe meal 6oz steak & lobster and the food did meet our expectations. Thanks for making our celebration memorable. Will definitely come back and highly recommended!

I don’t think the food matches the price amd it’s become that way for these high end chains. Quality is good but selling potatoes au-gratin with chunk cut potatoes in a pot based cream sauce with melted cheese on top is equal to some diners I have been to. The steak were flavorful and should be for $65 a piece. The artichoke, sun-dried tomato and goat cheese app missed on flavor. Service was friendly and prompt. Wine overpriced.

Very good although pricey. Service was great and food was excellent. The steaks were very good but I have had better (sorry 😬). I would recommend this for a special occasion or if you have a craving for a good piece of meat.

The restaurant’s ambiance is lovely however the waiter we got was unprofessional. We were seated in 2 mins of walking into the restaurant. We were approached by our waiter, Audi. We were asked if we would like tap or bottled water. I said sparkling. Another member of the team came and poured the water. Shortly after Audi returned and asked if we want to order cocktails. We ordered wine and martini. While ordering the wine he asked if I wanted 6 oz or 9 oz, I tried to inquire about the difference for clarification however, he basically just shouted, “do you want 6 oz of wine or 9 oz of wine.” I ordered 9 oz. After the wine was brought out he asked if we were ready to order or if we were still looking at menu. I ordered ribeye and t-bone steak with sweet potato casserole. We received food in good timing but our waiter did not check in to see how we were doing at all. I don’t think we were given adequate time to enjoy our meal as the waiter Audi walked out and screamed from a distance “baxx.” I looked around confused as I was wondering to myself whether or not this waiter was asking if I was finish. I believe that there should be a certain level of professionalism as this is a business establishment that serves the people. After saying baxx he asked if I’m still working on it because I had a puzzled look on my face. I then replied,”yes I’ll take a to go box for the rest of the food.” My partner said that he’ll take a box for his portion of food that was left behind. He asked if I needed anything else. He brought the receipt book and placed it to stand on edge of table. We paid and tip accordingly and left. Overall I was not satisfied with the service I received.

Our past experiences were excellent and this visit did not live up to them, so I am compelled to review. The waiter never asked how our food was and we had to flag someone else down to return the very well overcooked filet. It annoyed me enough to write this review because everyone was done eating by the time I received my meat. It was my daughter’s birthday. Sorry, thank you.

WoW... What an incredible night thanks to the folks at Ruth' Chris to celebrate the graduation of our daughter. The food was amazing- that goes without say, but the service was above and beyond. When we arrived, they brought us to our table that was decorated for the graduate - then our waiter Charles arrived. He was fantastic! Had us laughing, kept us engaged, kept us informed as to when apps & meal was ready, kept table neat and clean, kept the drinks flowing, I can go on and on... lets put it this way- I never write reviews on websites and I walked out of there that night and couldn't wait to get home so I could write this review. The manager Michael stopped by our table a couple of times to make sure everything was okay and he also had us engaged and laughing. I wish we lived closer -but I would highly recommend Ruth's Chris in Short Hills, NJ to anyone and I look forward to the opening of their new location in Worcester, MA soon because I cant wait to make Ruth's Chris our new "go to" spot! P.S.... Highly recommend the Seafood Tower if you are there celebrating something. It was quite impressive!!

The food, as always, was delicious. The staff was courteous. But extremely slow. My water and drink orders were not taken until about 30 minutes after I sat down. The waitress was pleasant and courteous however. For the price, we do expect better.

The restaurant is poorly run, from host to service. Amount and timing of service/attention not nearly commensurately to a fine steakhouse which charges premium prices. I can’t believe how few times anyone visited our table (approx 30 min between time anyone visited our table). When meal was finally served, with plates initially missing, it took another 30-40 minutes before table cleared and check was given. Additional item was also added on check that was not ordered. We desired to leave so I didn’t dispute the bill and paid it anyway. That’s on me I guess (quite literally). I hope the management and staff find a way to improve honestly, considering the name/reputation of Ruth’s Chris and the prime location in Short Hills. Unfortunately, I will not be returning, especially with The Capital Grille not being too far from this restaurant.

Even though we had reservations, our table was not ready at the reserved time. They crammed 5 adults into a 3 person booth. We asked to be moved to an appropriate table and were told it would be a long wait. Meanwhile tables meant for 5 or more had 4 people seated at them. Service was slow and inattentive. For example we ordered the seafood tower and asked for cocktail sauce. Server disappeared for 15 minutes and had to ask again. Main course was rushed onto table while we were still eating appetizers. Drinks were slow to be refilled. Food was ok at best. Not up to other Ruth’s Chris locations. Very dissatisfied with the experience, especially for the price tag. Will not return to this location again.

We’ve always booked reservations for Ruth’s Chris at its Parsippany location for birthday dinners so we thought we’d try the Short Hills location due to closer proximity. Overall experience was pretty good. The server named Khalil was amazing & attentive with clearing our tables, refilling drinks & engaging with customers. I would definitely give him kudos. Our actually server Alejandro was decent as well but he messed up our entree orders and wasn’t as quick to check up on our table but he did a good job nonetheless.

Went for daughters birthday. Chipped glassware. Tiny dinner plates. Never brought her birthday cake and took forever to get the check. After 15 minutes I had to go look for waitress or anyone! Next time I'll go to Longhorns and save $200.
