Ruth's Chris Steak House - Odenton
It was not very crowded for it being a Sunday evening. The waiter, Colin, was very knowledgeable about wines and made a great recommendation that paired perfectly with our steaks. He was also able to make a Bloody Mary, even though it wasn’t on the menu.
Food was great service even better very nice restaurant
I made reservations well in advance and we still had to wait about 20 minutes for our table to be ready. Bar area was full so really wasn’t a lot of room for a party of 9 to “hang out”. I feel like our waitress was not engaged with our party. I was celebrating my 50th and this was my first Ruth’s Chris experience. I did enjoy my meal choice with the ribeye. Will definitely give it another shot but at a different location.
As usual, the food was amazing. The restaurant was slightly full (which is normal for a Saturday night) so they could have done a better job of having more servers.
My wife and I visited for the first time, and it did not disappoint. Highly impressed with the food and service. We both ordered the Ruth’s Classics menu which included a salad, entree, side, and dessert. I order the 16oz ribeye and my wife the filet. Wow, so good. It’s amazing the difference in prime vs. choice beef. My wife had a martini she enjoyed and we both enjoyed a bottle of wine (Zinfandel) with dinner. Already discussing our next possible chance to catch a lunch (burger!) and grab a cocktail, or dinner one evening after work (I ride the MARC into DC). If you haven’t been to Ruth’s yet and love steak, what are you waiting for?!
Although we had a reservation, we waited 15-20 minutes to be seated. At which point, an offer was made by the restaurant to either sit at a table in the bar area or continue to wait until a table in the dining area was available. We reluctantly elected to dine in the bar area.
I have higher service expectations for an upscale restaurant. While I understand that some events are beyond the control of a restaurant, at a minimum, I would have expected some form of compensation (e.g., free round of drinks, dessert, etc...) and acknowledgment of less than expected service, from restaurant management.
In summary, I was disappointed to have paid a premium price for a special family dinner only to be relegated to dine at a table located within the bar section of the restaurant. At the end of our meal, we left the restaurant feeling somewhat let down by our Ruth Chris dining experience.
I’ve eaten at Ruth’s Chris several times. The food is always phenomenal. Our server had a great personality, but we were never even offered refills for our drinks, including water. I’ve never had this issue in the past. The server’s assistant usually keeps your water glasses full. Hopefully this won’t be normal occurrence.
overall great food and service-would go again! nice ambiance
Great place to eat. Just try not to go on Valentines Day. It is crowded. Food is still good and comes on time. We love this spot!
This was my worst dining experience at a Ruth’s Chris. I frequent this restaurant, and neighboring locations, yet have never had an experience that included poor service. Besides exceptional food, I love Ruth’s Chris mainly because of the extraordinary customer service that is normally displayed. It was Valentine’s Day, so I expected there to be a crowd and maybe a delay in the timing and speed of service. However, there was no delay in speed, only a decrease in the quality of service given. Our server was inattentive, unprofessional and overall not pleasant. She attneded to my tavoenonly in passing. Literally, asking if we were okay while also walking passed our table to assist her other tables. The only time she actually stood at our table was to take our order, and even then there was this sense of urgency to complete that. Towards the end of our meal, she began cleaning off our table, and removed my mashed potatoes without asking was I finished, or offering me the option to take them home. I was literally in the middle of drinking my water, while the remainder of my food was removed and thrown away. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME AT A RUTH’s CHRIS. I can receive service like this at Apple Bee’s, for far less the price.
I filled out a card to document my experience and my server noticed my displeasure. She came back over and asked why I was displeased so I told her. She apologized and said she is a lead server and this was not reflective of her abilities. This made me feel absolutely no better, as I was still left without food, and an unpleasant dining experience. My experience was not reflected in her tip, as I still tipped more than 20%. However, I will NEVER return to the Odenton location.
Food was amazing and no waiting. Always a pleasure to visit here.
The food and service was perfect. A bit loud due to crowd for Valentine’s Day.
It was my girlfriend’s first time experiencing the restaurant and her as well as myself were more than satisfied.
And most importantly we will start visiting the restaurant regularly.
Excellent waitress, Sarah M.
The food was good but I apparently order the wrong petite steak, very tough, I just gave it to my husband. Love the mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The water was chilled and the ice tea tastes great. Our waitress is polite, helpful and explained things about restaurant and food.
We enjoyed dinner. Service was great and the food was as expected. Great evening. Thank you.
We were placed at a tiny table when many other couples were seated in booths or larger tables. The calamari was sent back as too well done. The wine and steaks were good as was the bread. Our server was pleasant although unenthusiastic
I'm at this location at least 2 times a week the service is always GREAT! This place is a best kept secret!
Very good, but not the level of excellence to which we are accustomed. They had opened banquet rooms (back of the house) for several smaller parties, and apparently went to second-string wait staff to accommodate. We didn’t feel pampered, which we should be when we are spending that amount of money. In the future, we will request a table more towards the “front of the house.” Hard to understand, given that our reservations were more than a month in advance and we are regular customers.
Had a reservation but didn’t get seated till 20 after the reservation. Took longer than normal to get our bottled water and drinks. The food was good but they messed up our order. Added a blue cheese topping to a steak, which we didn’t order, and brought out the wrong cut of steak on the other steak. They fixed it but made a longer than usual dinner, even longer. We have been here a few times and it seems hit-or-miss as to the service.
Noisy, crowded, rushed, non-attentive, overpriced, underdelivered.
We will never go back on a Saturday evening. They obviously can't handle it, service was awful last two times we dined on a Saturday. Maybe during the week is better. We asked for bread and they gave us 3 little pieces for 4 people and it was 10 minutes to get it. One of our rib eye steaks was ordered RARE and it was WELL DONE, not even close. Took forever to clear plates after appetizers and meals. Maybe the management and staff should go to Capital Grille to see how it should be done.
Thanks to Our Server, Our experience at Ruth’s Chris was outstanding. Everything was perfect in celebrating my husband’s birthday.
Great food and great service. Enjoyed our server!
It was amazing and honestly it always is. It was my anniversary and we could have asked for a better waiter. At one time we were the only two in there just because they were transitioning from lunch to dinner.
This was my wife's first experience at Ruth Chris and we both were totally satisfied. The waitress was very pleasant and knowledgeable, the food came out very fast, hot and delicious. And the overall dinning experience was perfect, we can't wait to come back for another perfect dinner date.
Had a great time as usual. Love to come here to eat whenever I’m in town. The service and food are consistently great. Always anticipate an amazing meal at this restaurant. And cooked to order.
I book dinner here with five of my buddies from Jr. High School, High School, and college got together for boys night out. This particular Ruth's Chris location was within 19 miles of two of the guys. The atmosphere was perfect. The noise level was great, if anything, we may have been on the loud side ourselves with the jokes we stored up for months.
Ms. Courtney and Ms. Alexa were outstanding servers. They both were friendly, energetic, accurate and attentive. The quality of the food was spectacular. I drove from Fort Washington, Md (40 miles away) to din here, which was well worth the drive.
We most definitely consider returning here for dinner.
With the extra bread we were able to take home, Courtney recommended making french toast with it. I did and it was out of this world..the best french toast I've even had. I was calling the name Courtney all day long Sunday. So a bid thanks goes out to Courtney. Please share these comments with her.
The place was great the food was amazing! I was on a low key day off with my fiance, we went there and she was stunning as she usually is but I was on jeans and a hoodie! The service was ok! But I had the vibe that the waitress thought I could not afford to eat there! Other than that the food and the place are great! PS... Tipped her 25% .....soooooo the fact that I was on jeans a hoodie and a baseball cap does not mean I couldn't afford my bill!
a good meal and good service, but we did not think it was worth the cost.
Patrick was exceptional! He was very courteous and attentive.
We were primed for a great night out to celebrate my wife’s birthday and chose the Ruth’s Chris in Odenton, Maryland.
It is a lovely environment reminiscent of the steak houses of old. An alcove next to the bar seemed very noisy, but upon closing the heavy drapes the noise was cut and the romantic (dark) atmosphere prevailed.
The first negative was the time it took from the order until the drinks were served. We shared the Crab Stack of blue crab, pickled cucumber, purple onion and some avocado for appetizer. Nicely done. My wife had the Petite Rib Eye done to perfection at medium rare. I had the full cut that was anything other than the requested medium rare. It was eventually returned and after an extended wait replaced with another sizzling specimen. Sad to say it was only slightly better. With significant fat. Not what you would expect from a (Prime) steak house.
We chose the loaded baked potato, the 4 add-ons were provided beside the potato, however. We also had roasted brussel sprouts, nicely done and ordinary creamed spinach. They celebrated her birthday with a very small piece of cheesecake and a tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream.
I must add that even if the meat had been properly prepared, the pricing level over all far surpassed the experience. Two regular drinks, one glass of wine, one appetizer the meat course and 3 sides would have totaled nearly $210, before tip and before the comp.
New Year’s Eve — despite being packed , service never faltered , food was piping hot and delicious , and we were made to feel welcome and important. I love this restaurant and it is worth EVERY penny you spend.
Everytime we come here we are impressed with everything! Even though it was new year's eve, we still were seated within minutes of our reservation. The food was fabulous as always, and the drinks were superb! They even made sure to do a small celebration for my husband's birthday with champagne which was perfect. Love coming here every time!
We love Ruth Chris. You can't go wrong eating here!
I would only recommend with caveats. The restaurant is the nicest Ruth's Chris I have been to! Beautiful and our waitress was very attentive. However, a quick look around and it appeared that some wait staff couldn't bother pulling their pants up and lacked the professionalism our waitress displayed. We ordered the surf and turf (filet and lobster tail). The steaks were a little overdone and, since the plates are so hot, I am afraid they kept cooking. The lobster tails were way overdone and chewy! Mac and lobster was very good, though, and so were the ahi tuna, calamari, and shrimp appetizers.
Wife’s birthday celebration
Nice dining experience. Good menu selection.
We made a reservation 3 weeks ahead and were seated about 15 after arriving. Valet parking was great and we had a very attentive Server who remembered our name. Good variety on menu and good wine choices. We were a party of 3. Service was quick and hot. Our beverages never ran out (I drink a lot of water). It was expensive—about $50 per person—but the food wa superb and we will go back for special occasions.
