Ruth's Chris Steak House - Downtown Greenville at Riverplace
Ruth Chris never let's us down. The food is always amazing. The view of downtown while eating is spectacular. Our server Travis is the best, and the manager Amanda goes out of her way to make sure everything is perfect. To sum it up, great food, great environment, great service, and great leadership. Well done!
Wonderful service all around.
One persons sweet potato was actually cold to the touch as if coming straight from the fridge. Had to send it back. Pricey
Biggest complaint is I ordered a bone in filet medium rare and it came back medium. They did offer to take it back, but I had eaten about a third when they checked our liking. Just disappointed when you are paying top dollar and quality control is lacking.
So cozy place! Would definitely go again but I would pick other dishes than I had. Our server Doug was awesome.
Always extremely good but still very pricey. A place I cannot afford to go to but a couple of times a year.
My husband and I visited Ruth's Chris-Downtown Greenville for our 11th Anniversary! We had very nice dinner and a great view of the Riverplace. I really appreciate this restaurant accommodating my husbands's vegan diet for this occasion. Thank you again for everything and we will definitely be back to visit when we are in town.
All was wonderful except no creamed spinach! Ouch! Recall! Everything else was great!
Josh was an excellent server!
Our food was great and the service was excellent!
Ruth's made our Anniversary special. Extra care and attention was nice. Josh was lot's of fun and did a great job.
Food was good though nothing special compared to other high end steak houses. Medium rare filet was a bit over cooked. Service was a bit rushed despite several hints to the wait staff that we weren’t in a hurry. Nice restaurant but prefer other options for high end steak.
Food is always awesome but the price seems a bit high.
Well. The location is great. Service was great as I would expect. The food?!?!? Really it was just ok. This was an early Fathers Day dinner and we’ve been wanting to try RC at this new location. The location is great but food was quite disappointing. We both ordered filets. Mine was al a carry. The spouse ordered from the prix fix menu. The steaks were cooked correctly as far as temperature but absolutely no flavor. You get a bit of taste from the butter but really not very good. The sides were just ok. I had the fire roasted jalapeño corn. Tasted like they sprinkled it with a cup of sugar. Way too sweet and no true evidence of fire roasting or jalapeño for the matter. The wife got the blueberry cheesecake as her dessert. And once again. Just d
So so. Our waiter was very nice and quite attentive but otherwise I could do much better elsewhere for the $$$.
Very good steaks. The crab cake is ridiculous.
Wonderful food and Service!
Food was delicious and I’ll be back
It was wonderful everything and everybody was great
Service was outstanding, food was amazing and the view was gorgeous! Will definitely be back!
We had an "ok" time. The food was good; however both of our steaks were way overcooked the first time and we had to wait for new steaks to come out. Meanwhile, our sides got cold and we were not offered anything for the inconvenience. The whole experience felt rushed. Even with our steaks being incorrect, we were still in and out in just over an hour. Definitely not the experience you would receive from the other high end restaurants in town, yet still priced the same. And finally, I was just really disappointed in the type of service that we received. Our waitress was great, but our table remained dirty between courses. So, I assume it is not their practice to tidy the table in between courses like the other high end restaurants. Overall, this meal did not meet my expectations and did not feel like it was worth the money we spent.
Our waitress was wonderful!! Great food!!
Steaks were over cooked, not what I have come to expect from this chain. First time in Greenville but I have visited several of these establishments across the country.
Had a group of 10 out for a Friday evening before Memorial Day. Had a great time. We had a delicious dinner that was served at a relaxed pace. It allowed us to be able to converse with each other, and not feel rushed because they wanted to turn the table ASAP. Will definitely be back.
The food is way overpriced and side items dont come with your main meal. The service is great otherwise.
Waitress wore a dirty shirt and did not know how to cut the foil off the bottle of wine we ordered. Dining room was empty at 6:30 on a Friday night. Went down the street to a competitor and it was packed with a 2 hour wait. We visit Ruth’s Chris locations all over the country and this experience didn’t come close to what we usually experience.
Even though this is a chain restaurant... you can count on consistently excellent service, drinks, and food! We have been three times in the past 2 months including a wine dinner and all were absolutely outstanding! This has become our go to in a town with many great restaurant choices.
We were celebrating our 37 year Anniversary and it was great. The steaks were perfect the view was beautiful!!!Our waiter, Josh was so nice and we were very pleased with our “ Night out “ at Ruth Chris. Oh yeah the dessert (cheese cake and (chocolate mousse added by Josh for Anniversary was amazing!!!)
Our filets were over cooked. Our server and the manager offered to replace but we are did not expect that but wanted chef to know. Manger did insist we receive desert of our choice at no charge.
We felt all was handled well.
We always enjoy coming to Ruth's Chris. Best food and service! Quality! Previously, we would come here on a special occasion. Now when we come, That's the special occasion! Also, I thought is as very generous to give a gift to us at Mother's Day. Very Classy! Thank you so much!
I do not want to be placed in a side or back room when they could just take out the separation walls and all guests could get natural light from the river windows. I felt shoved into a corner and hated where I was seated. Confused at why those rooms are even there
THE best steaks in Greenville. Period. Further, the personalized service was exemplary, especially on this occasion of Mother’s Day. Bravo! Keep up the great work.
We went for Sunday brunch and found out that they didn’t have a brunch menu. The GM heard us and accommodated is very well in the associated up on the roof Terrance
Thank you Eric
We were celebrating my daughter’s graduation from Furman. Jordan, the manager, has made our dining experiences at your restaurant always warm, welcoming and truly exceptional so it was only natural that our graduation dinner would be there.
I get that it is Mother's Day and Prom weekend, and you're busy--but come-on man! I HAD a reservation and went with the family tonight, and the service was AWFUL, HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, ABHORRENT, ETC.....!!!!!!!!
Immediately, it went wrong upon arrival when they sat us in the business room with the music almost deafening with Classic Rock. I did get the waiter to turn it down to a decent level. Though the manager came it and brought it halfway back up as it bounced around the dark dingy little room. If it's loud to this disabled vet with hearing loss--it's loud. Classic Rock? Really? Think airport dive bar.
Usually, there is a second person helping with water and dishes, not tonight. Though someone did fill three glasses and half in my wife's and said she'd be back, she forgot to come back. Policing up the dirty dishes and getting fresh water was a chore. We spent the entire service seeking help for something or another. It took two hours to escape this nightmare.
We ordered a large order of food. My son ordered the Lamb and they didn't tell him they were out of Mint Jelly. They literally had someone driving around town looking for jelly and they didn't find any. After the rest of us were done eating, about a half an hour later they told him they couldn't find any. CAN WE TELL FOLKS WHEN THEY ORDER? So he ordered a steak. It was a $59 special--though they charged him full price for the steak and his sides. They ripped us off. Though they gave him a free tea bag.
The manager never came by after the Lamb fiasco. Everything rises and falls on leadership.
In retrospect this was a coordinated colossal failure. It was a study of restaurant chaos. Four-hundred bucks for lousy service and a backroom table. Chophouse, Roost and any other place in Greenville would have been better. Sadly, Olive Garden would have had better service.
Hopefully, they'll find their sweet spot. We usually eat here about 8-10 times a year, not any more!! One star
Great food, beautiful view, valet parking definitely helps downtown.
I’m hoping our experience is not the norm here! The service was the worse I have experienced anywhere in along time! Between each course there was about a 45 minute lag! We were put in a back room where we were the only party, so to find our waiter we would have had to get up and go look for him! The music piped into the room was so loud we couldn’t even talk! It was only turned down when I asked them to and it was definitely not soothing dinner music!
The food was just okay! When I pay at least 45 dollars for an entree I expect better! The salmon was very fishy tasting! The only two things that I really heard were good were the fried oysters, creamed spinach, and the sweet potato casserole, and there were nine of us!
The restaurant is located in The Embassy Suites so they will probably always fill up the venue with tourists! If I were Ruth Chris, I would not want my name associated with this restaurant!
Unfortunately, sometimes you get amazing with Ruth’s Chris and sometimes it is so-so.
Each time I’ve been to this location and especially this most recent time, the food was good, the dessert was great and service was below par. Rookie mistakes: putting plates in front of wrong guest, no sizzle on steak as the menu claims, bringing coffee with no creamer or sweetener nor asking, when we did ask... it sat on the tray for several minutes in the room while coffee is getting cold, forgetting certain things that had been requested. Also it took 2.5-3 hours to get through a meal. The particular server said he started in feb (3-4 months ago) but I’m surprised they had him on a table of 10. We still tipped him out well but he needs some serious training on the service and etiquette. Will try again as we visit regularly but at this time, cannot recommend.
Excellent food and service. The restaurant accommodated a party of 9 without difficulty or delay.
The steak and sea bass were both amazing. Nice quiet dining for date night or anniversaries. A little pricey but overall the food is worth the price.
