Went for Sunday brunch - made a date of it. Although we had a nice view of the bay from our table, and the service was good - the food was mediocre and there was not many vegan/vegetarian food options nor were we given any options in replacement of the unlimited alcohol, as we both do not partake. The atmosphere had a dingy basement feel to it and the chairs we sat on looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a few years. The fabric was visibly stained. I probably won’t go back. The food quality and overall experience was not worth the $55/pp we were charged.

our table for 6 was "stuffed" in between others with no room to maneuver or even serve without going over my guests. Service was terrible, with apparently a very new (untrained yet pretty) waitress. Drinks/bar service was very very slow. Huge lobsters, and priced accordingly, were very overcooked, and not evenly... Fish was OK, ... Appetizers were OK, yet waitress did not know how to attend/sell such service.

Dining room was cold. Food was luke warm. Service member was a excellent young lady. The best thing about the whole experience was they served us a Creme Burlee' in honor of my friends birthday. We drove all the way from Plant City so it was a bit disappointing. I have dined at Rusty Pelican but not in many years. It was not as I remembered.

Been here several times and the food is always consistently great! Only reason I can not give five stars is because the ambience is lacking a little and during the dinner rush it can get rather noisy. Other than that great restaurant and we will be back.

Having enjoyed the food served at a wedding a week previously, we decided to try private dining. The ambience was rustic owing to the low beamed ceiling and the old-looking (read dingy) carpet. We immediately learned that one must call for a reservation in order to request window seating for the best sunset views (I didn’t see where such a request was available via Open Table). Our server, Josh, was prompt and friendly. Our drinks were well made, tasty, and delivered promptly. My appetizer (calamari) was perfectly done, very tender, and the sauce was a tangy delight. Next, the salads—fresh, nicely sized, and dressed with a rich dressing. Then we waited. And waited. We were playing a word game, but that should not have deterred Josh from checking on us. Finally, we got both a manager and Josh involved in finding our entrees. It was delicious—Chilean sea bass perfectly done and buttery. My wife’s tuna equally satisfying. But the lame excuse offered for the delay was not so satisfying. Josh offered to bring us a complementary desert, but being diabetic, I declined. No other offers to compensate were made. We left discouraged and unlikely to return.

The restaurant was good. However, you can get better taste and quality at other establishments near by for the same value. My sea bass and risotto were on the bland side. The French onion soup was on point. The bar was exceptionally slow and my entree came to the table before my soup was done. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable experience.

Wonderful restaurant, a little too busy for my taste on this Tuesday night. We were left waiting as our wait staff worked on a large table of 12 or more.

Confusion with waiter, we felt rushed, one steak was not cooked correctly. Then we thought he was wrapping our leftovers and threw them out. The steak was at least still 4 oz and I had combined onto mine with onion rings. He was working but not listening. We will try again.

This was my 3rd time having brunch in the last 6 months and it was awesome as usual. The one recommendation would be, not to over steam the crab legs.. They were bending so much it was hard to remove the meat. But over all my friends and I enjoy the food and will be back soon. Our waitress, Sandy is awesome ..

The food was very good, fresh delicious. The Mimosas were not very good but that was not a problem. There were enough choices on the Buffet to please everyone. We had a party of 13. The room however looked old and had a musty smell. Looked like an old hotel meeting room. No ambiance, not relaxed and pretty. But we had lots family and friends celebrating a Birthday and that meant everything. Removatuons coming soon apparently so Yes, i would go back. For sure!

Visiting family in Tampa, I had trepidation’s about suggesting a restaurant; particularly on a Sunday.
I’ve enjoyed Rusty Pelican in Newport Ca for years.
My fears were unfounded! Everything from our seats at the window, to the service, to the abundance of fare at the buffet was spectacular- thank you all!
It is always a pleasure (and relief) when same name restaurants are consistent with their food and service!

Food was not worth the cost . Food taste was average. The service was good. Location is nice but still not worth the price for the quality of the food .

Everything was great, but the meals were pricey. My daughter is a vegetarian, so they offered to make her a Scallop dish with Tofu instead of scallops. We were still charged the full price for that dish, $36! That was ridiculous! Otherwise, everything else was great & we had a nice evening.

Overall the Rusty Pelican was just OK. For the price of the meal we were expecting a better experience. We could have went to a less expensive local establishment and enjoyed the meal more. They didn’t have enough Waite staff available to really serve tables well. The food was portrayed and plated as being amazing but was just good.

For the price you can go somewhere else. However, with their rewards program you will benefit with more visits. The best part of our experience Sandy our waitress. She makes it worth the visit.

Went for an early dinner on a Friday evening. If you're looking for a "scene-y" venue, go elsewhere. What you will get is a relaxed vibe, great food and cocktails, and a fantastic view of the bay.
