Rusty Pelican Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was a wonderful dining experience. The Rusty Pelican was always one of my favorite restaurants when I lived In Orange County. I hadn't been back in years, so it was extremely satisfying to find it still offering the same high quality service and delicious food.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the Rusty Pelican. Our table was great. The service was excellent. The food was great. The garlic bread was so decadent, dripping with butter and garlic. Our server recommended the Russian River Chardonnay which was the best choice to accompany the Chilean Sea Bass, Oscar style (topped with lump crab, asparagus, hollandaise sauce). This was one of the best dinners that I have had in a long time.
Had been there before and the food was to die for. Returning I ordered salmon med - med rare and it came in my opinion med - med well. Edible but not great. The quality of the fish was there but not cooked as requested. It took a long time to get food and didn't have time to send back and wait again.
Hey ordered the ribeye and it came back way overcooked they did offer to get me another one but I decline and the manager took it off my bill I just think that at a high-end restaurant like the Rusty pelican your steak should come out perfectly cooked especially considering it’s an expensive steak
Asked for a table by the window for our Anniversary, but it was tightly positioned to the table next to us, and in the bright lights and noise of the kitchen, immediately asked to be moved, so they put us by the fireplace area, which we had the area to ourselves, nice! Service was on the slower side, but we were not in a rush. Food was great and reasonably priced. The only other hiccup was, we ordered a regular and a specialty coffee, serve bought 2 speciality which he said were made by mistake, but said instead of throwing it out, he bought it out to us, and the regular coffee cup was placed on the table without a saucer, never seen anyone do that?! But throughly enjoyed our Anniversary dinner at a great location!
My parents live in northern california and request we visit the Rusty Pelican when they come down for Thanksgiving. Wonderful seafood, relaxing and homey-feeling ambiance, thoughtful menu. The only reason I gave 4 stars was for the speed of service. We were looking forward to a leisurely dining experience and everything came out very quickly. It was a Saturday evening at prime dinner time, so I completely understand. We asked for the waitress to slow it down which she obliged and the rest of our dining experience was amazing.
Thanksgiving Day - Husband ordered Turkey Dinner Largest Portion, received Medium Portion, he advised Boston Market was better. Daughter ordered Lobster, tough and rubbery, no flavor/seasoning. I ordered the Short Ribs, they were horrible All Fat and Bone. Clam Chowder was sub par for $7.00 a bowl. OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!
Tasty food, friendly service, lovely view. The restaurant was full, so noisy. Service may have been a bit slow--we were there 2 hours, but we were kept occupied with garlic bread, beverages, and our own conversation, and it was Thanksgiving, so understandable. A couple of us had turkey dinners and a couple prime rib dinners--price was in the twenties for each meal. We plan to return next year, if not before.
Can't go wrong with the Rusty Pelican!
The waiter was fantastic, we got our requested table on the heated patio with the harbor view and the food was delicious and to the point. The noise level was low (thanks to the outside seating), so we could have a conversation without yelling at each other.
I dined here last about 10 years ago and the place is still as good as it was then!
