Rusty Pelican Restaurant
The food and the view were great. We sat upstairs. It got a little noisy around the bar area. I think there are some locals that hang out there a lot. The service was a little slow. She tried to keep up but she had a lot of tables to take care.
We had a great dinner with good friends. The food was amazing! The garlic bread is to die for! I had the chilipot swordfish, which is a bit spicy and I loved it! Our only complaint is our table was located right next to the door they use for the patio and every time they opened it (which was often) we got a cold wind coming thru
Such a lovely evening. Wonderful food with a view!
I have always liked the rusty pelican, have had our work Christmas parties there too.
The food was excellent and our waiter Ryan gave us outstanding service.
Rusty, yes, but thai like it too!
Always great service and food!
Had to wait a while even though we had reservations. When i made the reservation i asked for a table with a view. I did not get a view
The good ol' garlic bread is still GOOD, and the entrees were great too. The brussels sprouts side was underdone, and the service was super friendly, but a bit slow. It was also a bit warm inside (we did not sit outside). Still love this dear old favorite place on the water
Rude hostess who set the tone badly. Not sure why the restaurant would allow that frankly. Our server was better but nothing special and when asked for recommendations didn't really have much to offer which sounded convincing. Expensive as well for what it is. Nice location though
Birthday Dinner with friends!
We all had a great time. Food perfect, service perfect.
Love the place came from Bloomington Ca just for good dinner Thank you Betty
nothing special, food was okay but nothing i was expecting. service was good, the girl was new and tried to learn, her trainer came and swooped the tip under my nose the moment i put it on the table. the view is amazing but food was not, i didn't feel anything special
Great place to enjoy a beautiful evening with family, friends and awesome food!
Service was slow and the food was OK (nothing special) but the view of the harbor is great.
Service started out great but did not end so wonderfully. Our server brought us the check without asking if we wanted dessert or coffee. We eventually got her attention and asked for some coffee. My latte was weak and tasted a little sweetened. My wife’s coffee did not arrive until after I finished my latte. Valet service was efficient and friendly.
The garlic bread is a MUST, lobster bisque - one of the best. Ashely, our server that was in training, was fantastic and made our experience memorable.
Very timely with seating their reservations. The Bar Service is a great place both before and after your dinner. A highly recommend getting to know the bartender Chace .
Three of us were placed at a table that was only meant for two.
Waitress seemed indifferent and we felt rushed so she could turn the table.
Some great water views
The ambiance was the reason we went and that alone was worth being there. We sat outside and it was lovely. Service was great. The food was really good. I had the crab cakes and the Mediterranean barracuda. The crab cakes needed a touch more flavor and it was the first time I tried barracuda (hope I am remembering the name of the fish correctly) and I probably won't order it again. The fish had many black spots throughout and it was not a favorite. But the flavor was nice and the sauvignon blanc I chose added a nice touch.
Service was fantastic!!
The restraunt was very clean and the staff was very curtiuos and polite..
The food was great.
We will be back!!
Everything was great. Our server Brooke was exceptionally nice. She had the kitchen split several of our shared plates which was so nice. We will definitely return.
Very good place to eat with great views and location. The food was very good, I just wished I ordered something different. The rest of my crew's food was terrific and our app and dessert was very good. Service was excellent and our waiter recommendations were all great. I should have listened. I highly recommend Rusty Pelican.
You can't beat the view. Entire back is windows overlooking the water and boats. The food is always good. Great for a special occasion.
Rusty Pelican has been in business in Newport Beach for so long that locals tend to forget about it. They should not -- excellent menu, great cuisine, fine service , and a world-class view of the harbor.
Outstanding. Second time there.
We arrived earlier than our reservation time but they were able to seat us immediately on the patio as requested. Our waiter was friendly and offered great suggestions on menu items and specials. The food was brought to us in a very timely manner and tasted better than expected. Highly recommend sitting on the patio if it's available.
The service was outstanding from the host to the server. Extremely friendly and helpful
Food was amazing! Crab risotto was fantastic! Service was perfect...until 4 girls sat at a nearby table and then we lost our servers attention for the rest of the meal. 🤷🏻♀️
Very nice view, great food and friendly service!! We have a great time!
As usual, all the food was great. We took friends for the first-time and they were favorably impressed.
We often come to Rusty Pelican and love it, but this time the service was sub par compared to our other trips. Our waitress had a large party so my wife and I were mostly ignored
Jordan was an AWESOME waiter. Very informative and attentive. Not much room for the servers. I really felt bad for them trying to maneuver around people but they did a fantastic job. The food was GREAT! Thank you for a wonderful experience at the Rusty Pelican.
Service was excellent. Steak was good, not great. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts, they were not very good. Drinks were very good. With a new child we don’t get out as much anymore, so when we do, it is special. We enjoyed ourselves and what made the evening was our server and unfortunately not the food. Overall, a successful date night!
Celebrated 50th Birthday and notated on reservation, also mentioned to hostess and ZERO recognition. I spent over $500 on dinner and disappointing that my guest got no recognition for birthday. Food was excellent but clearly a miss between host and server.
Dinner was fabulous - my husband and I had the sword fish which was prepared “flag ship” style, RP’s signature dish. Our server, Crystal, was just as fabulous as our dinner - she was excellent!
My husband and I dined there for our birthdays. We had a nice evening overall.
The happy hour at the bar is great. The garlic bread is amazing! The calamari wasn't our favorite but still good.
Service at the bar was good.
For dinner we had a nice meal.
We ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer and my husband said it's one of the better ahi appetizers he's had.
Our server was good, nice sweet young girl.
A wonderful lunch with friends overlooking the bay was the best. We came from all over Southern California for lunch at Rusty Pelican to enjoy seafood menu and view. We sampled the wine, appetizers, entrees and desserts for a fun birthday celebration. Service was exceptional and friendly. Everyone had a wonderful experience. Would highly recommend.
When I am town, I make it a point to dine at the RUSTY PELICAN.
