Rusty Pelican - Miami
We love coming here . Great views of the city . The food was good. Service is ok .
The Rusty Pelican was amazing! Our favorite item of the meal was this spectacular jalapeño cornbread that was sweet and spicy and probably our most memorable individual food from our whole weekend in Miami. So good! Though it seems like brunch food is not what they are known for, it was still a memorable and enjoyable meal, especially since we spent the time staring out at the Miami skyline. A meal here would be worth it if you only ate the cornbread and looked at the skyline.
In the past Rusty Pelican has been a favorite because of location, service and food. The service was just below expectations this time. We were sitting outside and it was warm. Our waiter was late offering drinks and filling our waters. We asked for extra corn bread that came after our meals had already arrived. We had to ask for assistance from other waiters to get the check and get out of there. This was not a Miami Spice night. We brought our adult daughters there to celebrate a college graduation. Although it was expensive, it was not the spoil we were hoping to give our daughters.
Service and location are great. Food was average.
A party of two, we had dinner reservations at 6:15 because 7:00Pm was all booked up. Ended up seating down at the out door table at 7:00 anyway due to the fact that the outdoor seating area is too hot. The tables don't have sunbrellas so the patio is not enjoyable with the sun beating down.
Anyway, our waiter was excellent, fun and energetic. The corn bread so yummy. Very delicious. and of course the view... the best I have seen so far in Miami.
Why 4 stars and not 5? The staff (hostesses and need to be trained better)
A very beautiful view with not very expensive food
The corvina for Miami spice tiny .
Perfetto in tutto ambiente cibo servizio e la vista
Fantastic food, fantastic views, and fantastic service!
In general I would go back to the Rusty Pelican but for a drink not for dinner. The place is really nice and the view in particular is outstanding. We tried the Miami Spice menu. The food was good but not execptionally good. The starter (mussels) the best of the menu, super tasty and good quantity. Then the quality went decreasing. The corvina was too big and the dessert (coconut flan) was so sweet that you couldn't properly taste the dulce de leche. Also, there was no vegetarian option...
I am very pleased with our experience at Rusty Pelican. We were a party of 4 and were seated inside by the window. The restaurant and the view is the best there is in the area. The waiter was very nice and attentive. We ordered from the Miami Spice menu. All the appetizers are amazing. He best one is the octopus, but the mussels and lamb rack delicious as well. We all loved the jalapeño corn bread! The main course was ok. The salmon and the corvina had a beautiful presentation but they were over cooked and lacked flavor. The flan is the best from both desserts. The key lime is good but super sweet. I definitely recommend the place and would come here again!!! Be sure to make a reservation as it seems to always be packed.
This place is phenomenal. Such amazing food followed by an amazing view. Great place to watch the sunset over the Miami skyline. Eating outside is really refreshing (you may deal with a few mosquitos) but the food is beyond worth it. The seafood tower is great appetizer if you have 3/4 seafood lovers at the table.
The service, food, and ambience exceeded our expectations. The staff went out of their way to ensure that we had a lovely meal.
Good food but not perfect. Mussels were not acceptable and had to go back. Value for the money is a little low (it's pricey) but the location is hard to beat. Would go back.
The best experience ever
My wife and I have been going to Rusty Pelican for 40 years. We go for the view of Miami, which is the best in town, without question. On our most recent visit, the service was very good. The food is always good; but the menu is rather pedestrian - - nothing memorable with a very limited local fish selection. Lots of wine to choose from; but nothing much below $50 per bottle. The worst part of the dining experience is the lack of ambiance and extremely noisy environment. They were playing unsuitable music very loudly. There were many children roaming around the dining room and very loud talking and general noise. There are no acoustical sound deadening design effects, such that it is impossible to carry on a normal conversation without elevating your voices, which only adds to the cacophony of noise. Too bad. It could be made into a 5-star restaurant and dining experience with just a little more effort. We'll keep going for the view.
When I made my reservation I asked for a table outside for me and husband to relax at. A romantic table. I asked that two drinks be served at that table. When we got there, the drinks were not readily on the table. The service was sub par. Particularly slow. I know it was semi busy but it was still very very slow. The items on the menu were good and tasty and had a lot of variety. However, the waiter was not good at explaining what the items were about on the menu. Id say the wine was a bit overpriced. I have a pretty fancy taste for wine and when I can buy a bottle of Cabernet for the same price as a glass that is kind of outlandish. Overall, the ambiance was good. Definitely a site to see the city skyline especially at sunset and at night. The outside seating is more casual than the inside so next time we wont dress up as much. Over all we enjoyed our evening with each other. We made the most it
2 hours waiting on my moms bday- 1 hr 1/2 long waiting for some dishes- fillet miñon was more than we’ll done, we asked it medium ( it was like a butterfly shape) not a fillet miñon. Lamp was disgusting, no bone just cartilages very wierd and tasted so bad. We went at 7:50 pm and we left at 12:15 am ( everything was too long) food wasn’t tasty. I am very disappointed ( $45 a miñon fillet with no taste) it’s not fair
Nice place to have a dinner in a wonderful environment. Food and service are excellent.
The wait staff was nice, however they were clearly understaffed. Service was slow and we actually made mention to our waiter about how the service was unsatisfactory during our stay. The food was delicious and the views were also nice (evening meal). The management did their best to make it right.
This is my third time dining , but this time I was disappointed , it is Miami spice months and they never offer that menu , the appetizer where ok .. the empanadas to spice ..entrees -we order lobster that was served open only one side with meat and so little that was sad , the salmon with purée was flavorless no spices at all ,I can cook it better at home , and the filet mignon 8 oz was so tiny and hard to chew I think was maybe 5 oz . Please if you think to seat outside try it in the winter . We dine 4 adults and 2 kids total of 500$ .. pricy food for the nice view . Last time here . Thank
Food was great, but we felt over dress, this place has changed. No longer a romantic place, service was slow, noise was high, no dress code. When you spend over 200.00 I expected more.
VALET PARKING AT RUSTY PEICAN DELIVERED OUR VEHICLE TO A UNKNOWN CLIENT THAT HAD LOST HER PARKING TICKET STUB WITHOUT ANY VERIFICATION OF REGISTRATION, DRIVERS LICENSE OR ID AND WE HAD TO CALL THE POLICE TO HELP US RETRIEVE OUR CAR FROM AN UNKNOWN WOMAN. THE VALET PARKING SERVICE IS NEGLIGENT AND UNPROFESSIONAL AND WE HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE UNDER TOP HOT TEMPERATURES TRYING TO FIND WHICH VALET GUY HAD GIVEN "OUR CAR" TO A STRANGER. THIS TOOK APPROXIMATELY 1.3 HRS UNTIL THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO US IN PERFECT CONDITION WITH CONTENTS IN TRUNK. RESTAURANT FOOD WAS GOOD, SERVICE QUITE BAD AND VERY LOUD AS LARGE GROUPS CELEBRATE THEIR BDAY IN THIS LOCATION AND WE WERE SITTED RIGHT NEXT TO THEM.
Our server Douglas was AMAZING! It was my birthday and he made the night very memorable. He offered his suggestions on dishes and was very pleasant when we asked questions concerning the menu. He made the experience very enjoyable and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants a nice meal plus an breathtaking ambiance.
awesome, perfect view of the ocean
casual dressing or fancy whatever you like.
Lovely place to enjoy am unforgettable sunset...
Only complaint: the receptionist that receive us was quite rude saying there was no tables outside due to the rain that has stopped half an hour before.
Be sure you reserve an outdoor seating...
Firsts time at the Rusty Pelican. Such a great vibe and atmosphere. The food and service was amazing. Definitely return.
This is not a place where i'd recommend visiting very often, given the price, value, service i've experienced. I think i'll try another restaurant next time.
Waiting time is approximately 30mins with reservation.
Great food, great service, great view.
Beautiful views and great food
Birthday and mom and girls week trip
Truly enjoyed this restaurant. Everything was absolutely perfect!
Really enjoyed our dinner there. Great for kids, nice environment. Would go back.
If you have time for only one meal in Miami, make it here. Go around sunset to see the sun and the Miami skyline at night. The food was fantastic and the service great. Staff was very accommodating and attentive. Not a cheap place, but the entire experience is worth every penny.
Nice view if you have a good table, service in general is super slow from the setting to waiters but friendly people. food is ok but nothing terrific you really go there for the view
