Rusty Pelican - Miami
Traveling for work and staying at the Ritz we heard this was the place to go if in Key Biscayne . We sat by the window facing the water and had to use our phones to see the menu. I had the Halibut which was dry, my friend has the sea bass which was just ok. We shared a octopus appetizer which we both enjoyed. No dessert or drinks the bill was $70 a person. Seems like a lot for what we got.
Food was excellent but service was extremely slow. We had to keep reminding the server to get our food and had to grab him if we needed any other drinks. Other than that, great view and experience
Service was great and view was spectacular
We were seated in a timely manner. Our waiter gave excellent service very polite and helpful.
Extremely arrogant service. Kept us waiting for no reason and then one staff member pushed me out of the way as I was waking to the table. Table was quite average and in no way fine dining. We left before ordering as it was clear this was not a quality place
Our server was amazing!
I went there last weekend for Miami Spice 2019, food was very good. Service was excellent
They were not prepared to serve lunch. The service was way too slow.
The view only get's you so far. Quality food and service is what counts.
Food was awesome but the service was little slow. Like it took almost 25 mins to have our main entres served from the time we ordered. But the food was good.
Great time! Love the view and great wine list
The manager. Rafael is the best. Food is excellent
With a stunning view of the Miami skyline, delicious food, great service, and prices accesible to everyone make this restaurant the ideal spot for celebrating a special occasion for many. Strongly recommend.
Excellent experience, will return for more! Thank you
Wonderful views of the Miami skyline, superb service and excellent food. Excellent for dates or to bring out-of-town visitors.
The waiter was helpful and the wine list was great
This place is worth it for the views alone, but as a manager in the industry I was disappointed with pretty much every other aspect of our experience. When I’m paying $41 for risotto I expect the service to be pretty close to perfect. When we first sat down I noticed my b&b plate had a big chip in it. No big deal but that was just the first thing. After working on our appetizers a server assistant walked up to our table, pointed at my fiancées plate, and blatantly says “Are you finished?” I was kind of taken aback. I was expecting more of a “Are you still enjoying this?” Or “May I take this out of your way?” Ok weird but maybe he’s new right. Then our server marks our table for our dinner entrees by grabbing a pair of forks and knives with his bare hands and placing them for our entrees at which point I noticed none of the silverware had been polished at all, and there was water marks all over them. The final cherry on top was our $7 side of fries arrived limp and cold and my fiancées salad was soggy. To our server’s credit he jumped at the opportunity to replace our fries. We didn’t mention the salad but my fiancée barely touched it, and I was hoping maybe someone would inquire if he was satisfied, but alas I was disappointed once again. Several times throughout our meal our water glasses were empty for several minutes. I get that we’re just a little two top on a budget compared to these high rolling 4 tops but when you want to charge $41 for risotto and you know the table is an open table reservation I just thought a little more effort would be put into our service. If this was red lobster it would be a different story but when you charge a premium price you have to deliver a premium product or people simply won’t come back.
Took adult kids & 2 grandchildren to restaurant for Miami Spice. Great food and wonderful place to watch the sunset. Small kids were happy there.
Thank you for visiting and sharing your experience. We hope to see you back soon.
Very beautiful location! Good food and top service!
Thank you for sharing. We hope you'll come back soon.
Douglas was amazing ! Great service !
Thank you so much for your visit and your shout out to Douglas. Ask for him next time on your reservation and we will be happy to accommodate you with him.
Great views, delicious food with beautiful presentation, fantastic service, varied menu. On the plus side we were taking advantage of the Miami Spice promotional meal rates so the value was outstanding -- on the minus side they were doing heavy construction on one end of the restaurant, very loud, but when we moved to the "bar" end casual seating area everything was fine noise-wise. Excluding the (probably very rare) noise issue, a great experience!
We do apologize for the noise, but happy we could make the amend to a quieter section. We hope to see you back soon.
A must when visiting Miami
Service outstanding, ambience extraordinary and food excellent
Thank you for sharing your experience. We hope you'll visit us again soon.
Ambiance was great, the view spectacular. The service and our waiter Dougals made the evening even more special. Highly recommend it. Romantic.
So happy to hear Douglas made your experience special. Make sure to request him in your next reservation. Thank you.
An amazing date and engagement ... Could not ask for the a better ambiance and food.
So happy you had such a great time and congratulations! Hope to see you back soon.
Great views and exciting atmosphere. We came to celebrate my husbands birthday and everyone was very satisfied with the food & service. Will be back.
Nice restaurant with a nice view of the Biscayne Bay, a little bit pricy, the service was ok, definitely could go and visit it again but not in the near future
Amazing place with an amazing view. My husband really enjoyed his birthday dinner 😍😍😍
Great food, ambiance, and Amauri good service. This restaurant has the best ocean view in Miami!
Beautiful location watching sunset.
El restaurant tiene una ubicación privilegiada, la comida es estupenda y el servicio también. Evita que sea una velada perfecta el nivel de ruido en el restaurante. Debería mejorarse su acústica.
Our server was super attentive. Beautiful restaurant with stunning views if we lived here would would absolutely be regulars to the Rusty Pelican! Highly recommended x
The whole dinner experience was excellent. The food was amazing and the service top notch. Great dinner.
Hostesses do not give you the Miami Spice menu unless you ask for it, so make sure you do! The food options on both the menus are delicious. You will want to order it all. We chose the Miami spice options and added some other from the regular menu. The octopus appetizer is divine. All seafood and oysters are very fresh. They offer a champagne but don’t be discouraged to continue your experience, because the rest of the service is very good and the food comes at a timely manner.
Good Service, amazing view, very tasty food, I Highly rate this restaurant
We had been to the RP a year ago and were excited to return for a celebration dinner dropping our son off at college. As you will read below, overall a terrible experience, doubt we will go again.
Waited 45 min to be seated despite a reservation, sat unnoticed at our table for 20 min before a waiter approached. The food was poor across the board and in fact, my wife had ordered lobster risotto- much to her dismay the ‘lobster’ was dry and tough. Only after bringing this up to our waiter he said, “we ran out of the usual lobster tail and used this instead”
My scallops were not any better, over cooked and flavorless. My son’s dinner sat untouched after his first bite.
To RP’s credit, the manager visited our table on her own initiative to apologize and insisted that we not pay for our ‘meal’.
Doubt we will return despite the beautiful view.
We love coming here . Great views of the city . The food was good. Service is ok .
The Rusty Pelican was amazing! Our favorite item of the meal was this spectacular jalapeño cornbread that was sweet and spicy and probably our most memorable individual food from our whole weekend in Miami. So good! Though it seems like brunch food is not what they are known for, it was still a memorable and enjoyable meal, especially since we spent the time staring out at the Miami skyline. A meal here would be worth it if you only ate the cornbread and looked at the skyline.
