Rich and spicy food, a little pricier than comparable restaurants, funky decorations (the fake goat/sheep/cow heads were a little creepy... Good live music too.
Fantastic service, octopus, shrimp and calamari were incredible. Please order the braised ribs, you will not be sorry. Yvette was extremely professional and efficient!
This is the 3rd time there, great food, fantastic service, comfortable seating and an awesome location.
Food was amazing!!
An awesome experience. The food was amazing and the music that they played was really good. I definitely will be dining there again
Very good food, very good service. Was a bit loud but that's just people having a good time so didn't mind it.
Wonderful time!!! Incredible service!!! Awesome ambiance, food and drinks!
It was a very beautiful atmosphere, we were visiting from out of state. Food was DELICIOUS! The service was a little slow, but nothing too terrible!
Service , food & atmosphere all fabulous along with the location!
Amazing preparations, quality, portions and creativity. One of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend...can’t be bad if it is relatively crowded in Sunday night!
Well this place was all around disappointing. First off, it must have taken 15 minutes before our server said anything more than "ill be right with you" to us. Once he finally arrived to take our drink orders, I decided to make a last second switch of my beverage choice because I was informed that an old fashioned would be poured over ice chips rather than a single large icecube(not a big deal but I would prefer to have another beverage if that is the case). As I was asking for recommendations for whisky cocktails(this whole process only took seconds) I could see and hear my server tapping his pen impatiently(also mind that I had been waiting 15 mins to talk to him). That was just rude. The drinks were bland and overly sweetened, I could barely finish mine without my mouth drying out from the amount of sugar. When our appetizer(some sort of savory duck pie) arrived it was cold, so not to give up on them yet, I asked for it to be sent back to the kitchen and returned hot. It was returned luke warm so I asked them to just remove it from the table and my bill, which they did. I also ordered the venison special and their side of mushrooms. Both were hot. That is about all I can say for those dishes. Both were a bit over salted. My date and I finished about 1/3 of each before boxing it up and giving it to a homeless man. This place was a serious waste of money and time. After conversing about it with my girlfriend, we both agreed it was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. Mind you both of us have over 10 years experience in both the casual and fine dining industry. The atmosphere was nice, but that was the only positive about that place. I have no idea how this place is rated so high. If you want to try something new I would suggest trying another restaurant.
I loved this place, dinner was great,
Excellent service 😉
I simply can not say enough about customer service, kindness of the ENTIRE Rustic Root staff during my visit on Saturday, Feb 09. From a wonderful and understanding hostess to great waiter Evan to GM Nathan Doney - 5* service and excellent experience! Thank you all SO VERY much for making the episode with my 6yo son "no big deal"! :) Sincerely, E.Amos, San Antonio, TX
Restaurant was all abuzz with lots of patrons and appeared to be a local hangout as well as a place for convention attendees. Did was well presented and although the size of the same fish deviated from one table to the next, it was a good value. Service was excellent!
Brunch was spectacular and the Bubbles & Berries Tray is a must!
Increíble ambiente y comida muy rica
Great brunch, drinks are a bit steep on price but a fun place with friends with good food.
Amazing experience! Service and management phenomenal
Love the restaurant, the food has been fabulous whenever we go and service is good. Highly recommend the salmon on bed of lentils.
The service was outstanding. They realize if the service is good and fast the turnover time would be better. This was the best restaurant in San Diego bc of the service. Food was amazing too!! Will definitely go back. Only down side is it’s really loud!
Service could be a bit more attentive, but food was excellant
My RSVP was not acknowledged but I refused to leave so I had to wait for a “no show” to get a table and then we were seated. The host and waitress were not the friendliest but the food was amazing and so was the atmosphere.
For my daughters birthday. She can’t eat cheese and her veggie scramble with egg whites and it came out with cheese. We specially ordered without cheese as she has an allergy. My gf is a vegan and ordered avocado toast with only the nuts and it came out with a avocado spread that wasn’t worth $12.00. It should’ve been real avocado.
Needed more food options.
Went out with my best friend and my sister. Overall everything was great! We made a reservation for 6PM and I’m glad we did because it became very busy at around 6:30PM. Our server Jesse was very nice and attentive. The food was very good; I would recommend the halibut on their usual menu. The wine was also very good and the price of everything was decent.
Awesome spot in downtown San Diego for a birthday dinner!!
This was a wonderful experience. The Restaurant Week menu was creative and interesting. Both my dinner companion and I enjoyed our meals very much. The selection was so varied that we ordered very different types of dinners. The wine pairing was a great value; the three glasses of wine were generous, and the waiter make insightful and helpful suggestions on the selection of the wine. Mark was an exceeptionally talented and helpful server. We benefited from the great service of the entire stall.
I will certainly return to this wonderful restaurant.
Rustic root is a happening spot in the gasslamp district, be prepared to fight for parking.
Awesome Tomahawk and service. Echoes like a warehouse.
Perfect service, great bloody mary, really nice food
Great service and unexpectedly great food! Was going mainly for drinks but many food items caught our attention
Celebrated a friends get together with another couple. Great food and service
Food was excellent. My husband had the tomahawk steak with the presentation with the smoke, and it was outstanding. My two complains are that it was very noisy in the dining area and that the dessert menu was inadequate.
Wonderful meal, fantastic food, great service! Loved it!
Came to San Diego to celebrate my beautiful wife’s birthday and have wanted to try Rustic Root; we were not disappointed. Dinner there was delicious, though a little pricey, but the service and ambiance made up for it. The waitress, Brianna, and the Manager, Nathen, get five stars for their attentiveness and service in helping to make the night special!! Will definitely recommend to my friends and will return the next time we visit San Diego!!
Great scallops and the meatballs were fantastic too. Highly recommend!
The filet was incredible! It was very tender and flavorful. I would definitely recommend it. We also had the fried Cornish hen and it was pretty good. I topped it with the mushrooms which were delicious. The was delicious by themselves too. I would definitely go back.
There was drunk people in the rooftop and no one seemed to step in to calm them down. One guy picked up a chair and still no one did anything about it. At one point they got too loud and everyone was looking at them, again no one did anything. The loud group eventually left. Besides that the eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly. The hollandaise sauce was a bit too much. Avocado toast was very bland and not worth the $12.
Location is really beautiful. The rooftop is amazing, can't beat that view.
The mexican Mary wasn't good for me but that's just personal taste.
I had the egg Benedict crab cakes on fried green tomatoes. They were so good. The wait staff were friendly and welcoming. The place is curated perfectly with kitchen decor repurposed. We will be back
