Wonderful total dining experience. Service was timely and attentive. Cocktails were delicious and the food was on point.
Great service by Indira! Attentive. Friendly. Fun! Most of all engaging. Recommended apps, entrees and drinks. very patient with us waiting on guests still yet to arrive. Such a seasoned server. The lightning was dark and it was very loud so it was hard to hear every one.
We were hoping to eat on the roof top terrace. If you are young and going out probably great. If you want to eat outside with a family/kids no go. Very loud and I was definitely to old for this crowd (forties). We then moved downstairs and ate at the few tables outside. The food was ok. I had a very good pasta and my wife had a disappointing kale salad with giant leaves with roots that fought back. It was hard to eat. Some leaves were yellow and did not look appealing.
This was a great xhpice for a pre-show cocktail and salad before heading over to the Balboa. Glad I made the reservation.
Other than us sitting down at our 230 reservation at 2:34 and being told we had 20 minutes until the kitchen closed it was good
Great ambiance and yummy food. I had the Acai Bowl and Chorizo Scramble for brunch, both were delicious. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and service took a while to get to/greet us (which is why I dinged a few stars off), but maybe that's just because it was busier than usual. Overall, I had a great experience and would return to this location.
Rustic Root didn't disappoint, we were there for a bridal brunch and they took excellent care of us. The California Benedict and the Mimosa bottle service was wonderful.
Bouji asf. Over priced reservations for roof top and restaurant are two different things.
Great atmosphere and excellent food. My scallops were so tasty and fresh. Service was very good also. Location was easy to get to and in the trendy Gaslamp district. I would go here again!
Fantastic evening - fun atmosphere, great food. Perfect for a gals’ night out!
Do not like that discounts are only applied only to downstairs inside seating.
Great service and food. We had breakfast. Loved the mimosas too.
Great atmosphere and the staff is AMAZING. The pancakes are delicious and fluffy.
Food was delish, ambience was perfect for Sunday breakfast! Our server Jesse was friendly and a cutie! Love the whole set up of restsrnar and having g the colander hanging from ceiling was pretty unique way of decoration. Definitely would go back when I go visit again.
Very delicious and a cool atmosphere! Would definitely go again!
It was great. The table was ready, the staff was prompt and very attentive.
The real treat was the food. Nicely sized portions, perfectly prepared, and lots of fresh flavor!
From the chicken, to the pork chop, yo the scallops everyone had a perfect meal.
Then there was a desert. I have to admit, the waffle sundae with house made ice cream was to die for!
If I had any room I would have had two!
Well worth it!
Halibut was over-sauced and the Bolognese was flavorless.
Had lunch today. Everything was excellent. So good we booked breakfast for tomorrow.
Excelent place to be with friends!!!
The staff was very helpful and effortlessly helped us to a table that could fit my husband and his crutches/ walker. The food was excellent, our waitress was phenomenal. Love.
Meet up with friends and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was just right for two friends catching up!
loved the dinner. but very loud. you could not carry on a conversation very well.
The food was excellent! We tried to get a drink before dinner at the roof top bar but that was really busy and it didn't end up working out. But we got seated for dinner a few minutes later anyway. Our server, Chris, was friendly, offered great suggestions on the menu, and made sure the timing of our meal fit the occasion. We were out on a date without the kids and he had everything come out at a very relaxed pace. I'd definitely recommend it!
Amazing food, attentive service, the cutest atmosphere!
Fun casual dinner with delicious entree selections. Loved the short rib and scallops entrees. Wouldn’t recommend the octopus app or the meatball app. They were very average.
Girls night out!
service was wonderful, food was relishes, and location plus atmosphere excellent.
Excellent restaurant in the Gaslamp district! The food was great and our waiter was friendly and attentive. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place.
We had brunch reservations for my friends bachelorette party and could not have been happier! Our server was just lovely, the Mamosa tree was amazing and I nearly fell off my chair the crabcake Benedict was so good! :-)
Our server was great, told us about the specials and even credited our bill for food they took back. Everything came out perfectly and we moved our good time to the rooftop bar for even more fun.
For the price I expected a little more. The steak I had was great but the calamari and the Mac and Cheese and broccolini was ok. Atomoshere and service were good. Nice ambiance.
Crowded, we started on the top floor open area where i was ushered out of a “private party” where I was standing for just a moment to get to the other side of the restaurant. Just rude considering I’m 55, and all of 120 pounds, blonde female dressed very nicely. How i was a threat is beyond me. I’m used to being treated with more respect. We went downstairs to be seated for dinner. Btw, I picked this restaurant because it was mentioned in a magazine and the menu looked promising. So, we get seated in the back of the restaurant, my husband and I, amongst three large party’s. We sat there for 30 minutes with wait staff, at least six of them, never once looking at us in the eye, acknowledging us, giving us even water. We got up and left the restaurant and Uber’d to The Top of the Market where we were welcomed and treated with respect. We were so glad to be out of the loud negative energy that they call an up and coming restaurant. I think they have a good idea, but the decor lacks in providing any loud noise prevention. Oversized metal colanders hung upside down:/. The wait staff need a lot more training or at the least more of them. I never did get to try the food. If I could give this restaurant less than poor I would. This is my first bad review I ever given.
Camila the waiter is the best ask for her great service
Food was great! We got the meatballs and shrimp to start and then scallops and short rib for our meals! Clint was attentive! My only complaint would be that the beer was super warm! Everything else was amazing!
Service was great! Ambiance was great if you're looking for a fun and lively place to dine. Hostess was very accommodating, as we added two people to our reservation only a few days prior. We loved the booth setup. Great for dinner conversation because everyone could hear each other. Food was average. My husband had the pasta special which was not flavorful, and I had the short ribs which were OK. We both liked our meals, but we've had better. Overall, a decent meal and a great time!
Great staff and foos was awesome!
Our server Kyle was great! One of my friend’s frenchtoast was too soggy, but he took care of it no problem!
The restaurant was very warm and stuffy when we arrived at 8:45 PM. It wasn’t until about 45 minutes later that we felt any airflow kick in. The food was delicious and our server was very nice and helpful re: night life recommendations, although the service was slow. Very cool atmosphere/decor and awesome chocolate peanut butter cheesecake!
This is my second trip to the Rustic Root. I enjoyed my experience there both time and the food is wonderful. Definitely a must stop in the Gas Light District of old San Diego.
We had a 7:45 reservation. It took until about 8:00 for someone to come over to our table. Our waiter was very apologetic and ultimately gave us a free dessert and $10 off of our bill. The accountability was superior and the food was very good.
