Father’s Day brunch. Nice.
Pancakes are to die for! The music was refreshing.
Definitely, try to get seating on the terrace patio. Reservations are for the lower level only. Food wasn't too bad but pretty much all the 4 things we ordered were excessively rich (read oily). I wouldn 't go back.
Amazing service, food was outstanding as always. Made a last minute reservation for 5 on open table and by last min I mean 40 min before we sat down on a Saturday night! Thank you RR!
Great experience at Rustic Root! We had reservations but we're 30 min late but they still got us a both immediately. Food was very tasty. We had the sausage and peppers for a app, I had short rib and she had salmon. Service was very good and quick. All and all, a great dinner on a Saturday in the Gaslamp. I would definitely come back and it would be a cool place to bring out of town guest.
Server was very attentive and let me taste beers which was nice because i'm not a craft beer fan. She also recommended the pork belly BLT which was delicious. Portions are huge so i could y have split it. Il go back next year
The food and service was good but the cigar smoke from the neighboring store ruined it for us.
Great brunch. Salmon salad very good!!
Hosted a work group here. The onsite staff was just super. Had to adjust party size up from 10 to 14 a couple of days prior. Scheduling discussion was less than optimal with a requirement to the change my reservation to 45 minutes earlier and that my entire party (of 14?!?) would need to be present prior to seating. All of this became a moot point upon arrival with the welcoming staff and lovely service throughout the night.
Amazing! The Tomahawk steak is a must, my family had an amazing time.
Great ambiance. Moncy was an excellent server!
Great food, great atmosphere. Loved the Tomahawk and Steak Frites!
We had an amazing dinner at Rustic Root! From the staff to our delicious entrees, it was an experience we will not forget!!
We enjoyed the Gem and Coppa salad, Lamb Ribs, Tableside Smoked Tomahawk, and Lobster Parpadelle. Do not miss the Lobster Parpadelle!!
Very loud atmosphere. Can’t hear to visit yet the manager snapped at our table to be quiet when we all broke into laughter at a funny story. Don’t go here if you want to visit because you won’t be able to hear and don’t go here if you want to laugh because you might get yelled at by management. Also important to note- the manager Ricky refused to come back to our table to apologize or even stand by his rude, childish reaction to our table. He instead forced our sweet waitress to be stuck in the middle when he sent her to tell us he would not come talk to us and stood by the way he spoke to us. Horribly managed by childish, immature, management staff.
Everything was amazing! First time in and we brought friends from out of town in. The food was delicious and the bloody Mary’s were on point. Javier was our server and he was very friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to come back!
The restaurant was great! It was open fresh air and good folks working there. I was in San Diego on a business trip and was joined by 3 locals from the site I was visiting. It was great connecting with them at Rustic Roots. We didn’t know the lay of the land so we reserved a space. We sat downstairs and people watched throughout our conversation. Next time we will definitely sit upstairs which was first come sitting arrangements.
We enjoyed the food which was really really amazing!
Cute place, good food, great service,
I had the pork chop with the Brussels sprouts side. It was my best meal while we were on vacation in San Diego — and we had some excellent meals. My husband had the lobster pasta dish. Wonderful mixture of flavors.
We went there for Mother's Day, i had never been here before. i had the scallops which were served on risotto, the dish was very good for the price. i enjoyed my experience very much and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who was looking for good food and a nice atmosphere.
This restaurant sucked, food was terrible and the service was awful.
We had a group of 5 for Mother's Day. The restaurant had a nice special menu available and the choices were varied. My crab ruben was fantastic, but my husband's omlette (from the regular meal) was COLD when delivered and no one came by to check on us for it to be addressed. The entrees for all 5 people were delivered to the table at drastically different times (a pet peeve). I know that it was a special occasion, but this really put a damper on our experience.
Graduation and Mother’s Day brunch, great location and vibe. Food was good much better than expected. Service was good but server forgot several items and we had to ask or remind more than once
Perfect place to spend Mother’s Day brunch! Yummy food and great ambiance
There were 6 of us for Mother's Day and everyone loved their meals. The Crab Cake Eggs Benedict was outstanding. Service was a little slow, perhaps due to us being part of the first seating of the morning.
Mother’s Day brunch
The ambiance was great, the decor was tasteful, the people watching was abundant and the food, delightful.
The drinks were Devine! Food recommendations were as well!
Super cute decor. Awesome service. Food was good...but not great. Drinks were really, really good. I’d go back, and just do happy hour and snacks.
This was the second time that I have been to this restaurant. The food is always fantastic and service is exceptional!
If you want an appetizer get the firecracker shrimp! It is fabulous.
Dragon was the best server we’ve had in many meals in many cities. He’s a keeper.
Amazing dinner at Rustic Root on Monday. Loved the 1/2 off wine too. The cremini mushrooms were a huge hit with our group. The steak & frites was so good, along with the tomahawk ribeye, the halibut and lobster pappardelle! Such fun!!
Food was very good. Disappointed that I did not get dining points.
Great ambiance, delicious food and accessible location!
The food is quite creative and the standards very high. Unfortunately we were there on a party night and it was so loud, it was unbearable. So if you are into that, voila. But for me the noise wrecked the meal. But I was completely pleased with the appetizers, salads, and entres. The deserts were too sweet for my taste (but I don't like sweet).
Nice location at Gaslump Quarter and the atmospher was bright and freindly. Beef tasted very good.
Second time visiting Rustic Root. Attempted patio seating at 5 but area crowded, loud and a much younger crowd. Had preemptively made reservations downstairs and it was perfect. Food was excellent. Most of us tried the rose sangria which was a perfect summer cocktail. Had apps of humus and calamari. The dipping sauce for the calamari was fabulous. Dinner consisted of crab risotto special, gorgonzola pasta, sides of asparagus, mac and cheese and mushrooms. Everything was delicious. Great place to go pre theatre.
Awesome place! Fun decor and delicious food and drinks. I highly recommend it!
My fiance and I were looking for a unique spot to celebrate our first visit to San Diego together. I yelped a few spots and this one stood out because of the decor and menu. So we went. What a gem this place is! For Starters, we ordered the Firecracker Shrimp and Meatballs with Whiskey sauce... delicious! The meatballs were flavorful and the whiskey sauce complemented the dish so well, my fiance wanted to drink it with a spoon. For dinner he ordered Lobster Pappardelle with this wonderful sherry cream sauce. The manager said this item has never left the menu since the restaurant opened - and we know why. It has a unique flavor and the pasta & lobster were cooked to perfection. I ordered salmon with a pea puree, the pea puree was surprisingly a wonderful addition to the salmon and potatoes. We were so full but were enjoying ourselves too much to stop eating, so we ordered dessert... chocolate waffles with malted vanilla ice cream topped with a chocolate mousse (homemade whipped cream) concoction that was wonderful! The waffles were more like crunchy chocolate donuts minus the grease. All the flavors melded together so decadently. To top all of this food goodness, we were served by Petra, who has the most delightful personality. Do we plan on coming back as soon as possible? Absolutely!
The food and service were great. It was a little noisy for a business dinner but would be perfect for a date or group dinner.
