Both the food and the service were exceptional! Although we dined early (6:45pm) it would have been nice if the lights were dimmed a bit and perhaps candles (real or battery-powered) had been on the tables. Also two (maybe three?) of the hand sanitizer dispensers were empty. I tried every one I passed after using the restroom and all were empty, even the one by the front door. Otherwise all Covid protocols were in place and it was a wonderful night.
Top notch service and delicious mean
Excellent food had beef stroganoff
Desert of blintzes delicious
Must go romantic location
This was one of the worse dining experiences I’ve ever had and such a let down for the price and hype of this place. We had reservations and from the moment we walked in I should’ve turned right back and left. The reception person was nice and said happy Mother’s Day, that our booth would be ready but left us Standing there for 10’mins when the table was ready. We sat down and was not greeted for another 15 mins. In fact we were never greeted at all at the table. The waiter came over and said “ready”? No introductions, or offered assistance. He barely said 2 words the entire 2 hrs we were there and I still don’t know his name. Horrible customer service! The food was sub par at best, it was very cold in the restaurant and we felt like second class citizens. Then the printer didn’t work to print the check so they brought the whole screen they use to enter the order. It was an absolute disaster. Only the manager was somewhat friendly and the entire staff was cold. Maybe they don’t care about return customers! We spent over $200 and it was not worth it at all. Don’t waste your time or money to go to this “Iconic Restaurant”. While we were in the restaurant, I got an email from Open table
That I didn’t show up for the reservation. Not sure they really value customers to even care to check the reservations. You would think people care about their jobs with Covid reeking havoc on the restaurant industry but if this place depended on service, it will never survive. It was a difficult day as I just lost my mom 3 weeks ago and thought this would be a nice way to cheer us up but it was the worst mistake and my day was completely ruined. Like I said, don’t waste your time or money.
I booked online, parking was a block away, they did temp check, observed masks and social distancing. and no waiti g time when we arrived. We ordered the mothers day menu , Beef Carpaccio, steak and eggs and edelweiss for dessert. The lady host was very kind to take our photos, bathroom downstairs was neat and clean. The interior of the restaurant added so much character to the place, truly enchanting!
Birthday Dinner! We had a wonderful experience for our first time here… the food was outstanding and the desserts were amazing!!!
Incredibly Russian - fancy-tacky Mafia gloriousness and the warmest, friendliest service! 💖
Wonderful staff, delicious food & quiet place to enjoy a special dinner!
Celebrated my granddaughter’s third birthday with her mom and me with high tea. It was lovely
Special accommodations for a 3 year old.
Vladimir was wonderful
Excellent and delicious.
Lovely evening and fantastic food! Best service in NYC
Everything was great, the service was lovely and the food exceptional.
Great History always amazing to be in "the room where it happened"....
but unfortunately not that special anymore.
The Prototypical Restaurant!
Reminds us of the days before COVID. Elegant as usual. Service a bit slow, likely because they are still at limited capacity, but our party enjoyed a leisurely brunch.
Went for afternoon royal tea with a friend. Amazing service, food and ambience. Would highly recommend.
The mushroom filled crepe was delicious, if not tiny, could easily have been twice the size and it still would have been small. The stroganoff was fantastic., but again small. The dessert was phenomenal. The biggest issue was with the drinks, the $18 beer was 5 months past it’s best buy date. Service was also lacking. Our waiter was cold and rarely came back to the table, we were really doing him a favor by being there. All in all it was fun, the food was fantastic, just not an every trip kind of place.
Could not have had a better experience. Safety, decor, comfort, food quality, food presentation, creativity of the bar drinks...excellent and service attentiveness....top notch.
It was great! Our waitress was so nice! Food was awesome and service was impeccable
I went to have tea with my mom. It’s was a great experience, the service was great. The tea was delish and the food was pretty good. It’s a little overpriced but I guess for the experience it wasn’t too bad.
A fabulous place for afternoon tea. The staff did a superb job!
Excellent service with excellent food! I would recommend it to everyone!
Staff was so nice and friendly but f
I’ve been living in NYC for 3 years and this was the tastiest food I’ve had at a restaurant
NYC trip with friends to celebrate life!
An NYC classic. Thank you for the great hospitality!
My wife and I had the afternoon tea. Mistake. RTR is for Russian specialties, not little sandwiches from whatever appetizing store the raw materials emanate. The kicker was using the $200 Master Card Reward from Open Table to pay my $130.65 tab. I was surprised to learn that the $200 are gone, regardless of the price of the meal. When I was so informed I bumped the tip up to $69.35. If the wait staff was thrilled by this sudden stroke of good fortune they did not show it, which leads me to believe that the excess might otherwise have gone to the restaurant. RTR is a terrific place to go during Restaurant Week. I can't wait.
So wonderful to dine at Russian Tea Room again - one of the most beautiful dining rooms in NYC. Tables are nicely spread apart, so it feels very safe and clean. My salad was delicious. My halibut was simply superb. And the chocolate cake was to die for. The service was outstanding and the prices quite reasonable for the location, quality and portions. I will go back very soon.
The Beautiful decor and high-class ambiance make the atmosphere.
Staff were friendly and helpful, we felt comfortable with how they were handling the covid health concerns. Food, ambiance and drinks were amazing.
Great food and the room is extraordinary
Great time, well paced, and attentive waitstaff!
Excellent!! I recommend highly for lunch time. Good vibes, great food and good scene for two friends just trying to talk. Love it.
Everything our party of four ordered was amazing. I love that the menu isn't your standard fare, which makes it perfect for celebrations. I haven't been here since the 90s and it completely lived up to my memories and expectations. The atmosphere is a little sad because of Covid restrictions, but I hope that will turn around soon.
Very aesthetically pleasing and true to the theme. The creme brûlée is so delicious. Staff is very courteous and friendly.
Waitress was exceptional considering she was the only one there.
Friendly service, great food. Will be back again for sure.
I went to take my sons friend that love TV show gossip girl.
Food was not of good or great quality. Not sure if they even have a Pastry chef. Afternoon tea sandwiches were like sandwiches you would see at a low budget company picnic. The pastries seemed to be made from something like Pillsbury dough biscuits- they were not scones.
One time experience but I personally would not return or recommend
The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The food and drinks were amazing.
