Booked a reservation for our 10 year anniversary. We live in the city and it’s where my parents had their first date. I had requested a special champagne and caviar service when I booked which was an option. We weren’t even greeted after we were sat for 25 minutes and finally had to ask for water. The server was rude when we mentioned we had booked the special service before hand. Ruined the night.
Fantastic food and service but despite having a reservation, we weren’t seated for almost 30 min which made us rush through dinner to get to a show. Hostess told us the restaurant was overbooked.
The food was sublime. Staff were professional but seemed overstretched. More chaotic than I expected. Nonetheless, an enjoyable dinner.
Always can be relied upon as a really fabulous special room with very ordinary food. I consider it a tradition to enjoy at least one holiday season meal with friends here before the theater.
Not nearly as good as it once was. Menu items are lacking. More of a tourist spot but not worthy of the glamour it once had.
Food was mediocre. Tea was terrible. Service was even worse.
Was lovely with all the Xmas decorations
Restaurant is so beautiful. Interesting art on the walls and such nice ambiance. Service was fantastic and the food was delicious. We went for tea and the sandwiches and pastries were so lovely! Delicious tea as well. Pricey, but worth the experience.
Excellent food and an efficient, attentive staff-a great place to celebrate a special occasion. Tony-Ann in the front was a great help to us!
Although the food was good, our waiter was deplorable and totally tainted our experience. Bad manners, not attentive. It was difficult to even leave a 15% tip.
Unfortunately we won’t go back. The Palm is a much much better choice.
The quality of the food did not match up to the cost of the experience. Expected more out of an iconic restaurant like the Russian Tea Room.
The salads were very good. My duck main course was bad. Tough and fatty. My Boyer Imperial drink tasted just like Robbitussin. Staff was very good. Place bery pretty inside.
The restaurant was nice. The staff was ok, our waiter didn’t seem to want to work. He barely come check on us and walked dragging his feet.
Food was great….. waitress was super nice…. Food a little expensive… wished I had more caviar for the caviar tasting. But overall great experience!!
An amazing experience! Service superb ! Food is great ! Ambiance 10 stars , you feel like royalty !
Everything about the Russian Tea Room is superb. Food, ambiance, service, everything!
Food was great, but there were service issues that ruined the experience. It seems that our order didn’t make it to the kitchen and about after 40 minutes of waiting, the manager came to let us know what happened, that the food was being rushed, and gave us a free shot which was appreciated. This whole time the server was non existent and never apologized or mentioned what happened. It still took 30 minutes to get our dishes with no apology from server. The food was great, but frustrating to see other diners sit after us, eat and leave before we got the food. Would love to give a 5, but we left very dissatisfied.
Iconic experience. Food was very good. Service was very good. Prices were very high. Can find similar quality of food and service for 2/3 of the price. The Iconic experience tacks on the additional 1/3.
It just felt too expensive and it wasn’t anything special
Great food, amazing atmosphere and excellent service!
Food and tea were delicious! We had a large selection of bites and sweets for our Royal Afternoon tea. The caviar was the hit in our group, so we were glad that we had an extra helping of the caviar with our Royal Afternoon Tea. Service was impeccable. You felt welcomed and the festive spirit as soon as you walked in.
Somehow it seemed that there was more focus on larger groups.
This place is great for lunch with mom celebrating the holiday!
Visit to NYC for Thanksgiving weekend. Restaurant lobby was very crowded at the time we arrived. But we were seated in a timely fashion and got superb service.
Wonderful as usual
We made a reservation weeks in advance for Thanksgiving. We were not given a booth which was very disappointing. We spent nearly 500 dollars on a dinner for two people. The food was diner-quality. The service was proficient but not warm. And we were seated at a table right next to another couple. It was a tourist trap hell hole.
Way too expensive for what we had. You are basically paying to say you ate there.
Thanksgiving 2021. it’s our tradition.
The staff was amazing, but that’s where it ends. The food was lukewarm. It was their Thanksgiving menu, and everything that came out seemed like it had been prepared hours ago and heated up in the microwave right before making its way to the table. The stuffing was burnt, and the turkey and mashed potatoes resembled Stouffer’s TV dinner PERFECTLY. However, instead of paying $2.99 I paid $145 per person. Lesson learned. The staff was amazing though, and everyone was so polite.
This was our first visit to the Russian Tea Room after numerous trips to NYC. We were seated upstairs in the event space which does not come close to having the same decor or charm as the first floor dining room. Service was strained and spotty. The food was tasty but not equal to the price tag. The Boeuf à la Stroganoff is advertised as red wine braised beef short ribs with thick noodles tossed in a creamy mushroom and black truffle cream sauce. Our noodles looked as if they had been in the steamer tray all day. The meal was over priced, even for NYC. At $145 per person for the prixe fixe dinner we were expecting much more.
Just a beautiful experience. Service and food were just on point.
Fabulous food, exquisite surroundings, attentive wait staff. Everything you need for a special evening during the Holidays, or any time of year when you want to make a memory.
Nice atmosphere. Portions are small if you are using the Groupon for your meal.
The Russian Tea room is well known located in the famous Carnegie building so we had high expectations and were excited. We ordered afternoon tea. The tea sandwiches were average, the cutting of some of the sandwiches was not well done. The tea was made from teabags - and poor quality teabags. I also found it quite disappointing that the presentation of the food on the 3-tier stand was poorly done - no time and attention put into this. One of the things I like about afternoon tea is the attention for details and the prettiness in everything. I badly missed all this at the Russian Tearoom.
The ambiance and decor were very nice and this helps to make our time there enjoyable nevertheless.
A Reunion dinner special occasion and this was the perfect venue. Wine list seems to have shrunk but we were able to find something to drink. One of my NYC regulars
Went for lunch and sat in a booth which was very comfortable. Interesting retro decor to look at. Had a delicious Caesar salad with grilled chicken. My sister got the dumplings which could have been a little hotter. I would recommend this place if you are looking for an iconic NYC establishment. A few tables were getting the Vodka and caviar lunch or the afternoon tea service. If I went back I would try the tea service, it looked lovely with a 3 tier tray of finger sandwiches and then another tray with desserts. Our waiter could have been a little more attentive, but not a big deal. Overall it was relaxing and a fun experience.
