Food was amazing! Wished the portion sizes were larger, they seemed small for what you pay, but the food was super tasty! Service was great :)
I was nowhere near impressed with this restaurant. The food was bland, the service even more so, and we left disappointed and unimpressed.
The food was very good. The waitress was helpful and attendant.
Pulled pork sandwich , Pork Ribs were fantastic. Service by Kevin was excellent - class act. Highly recommend
Best barbecue in Denver county!
We had an excellent meal with great service! It was comfortable, cozy and you could carry on a normal conversation. I would highly recommend it!
We had several issues. 1. This is not real barbecue. You would be better served going to Famous Daves instead if you want true barbecue. It appears the ribs are steamed and cooked in an oven, maybe? Making matters even weirder, the sauces are watery, totally unlike any barbecue we have eaten. For full disclosure, we have eaten all over the US and have had all types of barbecue. This was not good. 2. We ordered pigs in a blanket and were served bacon wrapped in a weird dough. The restaurant should be honest as to what it is serving. 3. The food is overly salted.
This was our first time coming here, I brought my boyfriend for his birthday since he is a BBQ fanatic! Both of our meals were very good, i highly recommend the smoked salmon entree. The drinks were a bit overpriced for what you actually got, but I suppose that is most restuarants in downtown Denver. Great first experience!
Great BBQ! We were in town for a conference and everyone wanted some southern home style cooking and this place did not disappoint! Absolutely wonderful service, atmosphere and food! Burnt ends were the best!!
Ribs were great!!! Service was great, bathrooms were clean. We would return in a heartbeat.
Good solid smoke, good lunch specials and nice place to just get waay from the downtown lunch crowd
I read a few reviews about this place that sounded just 'ok' - but I was pleasantly surprised that it was better than expected. I wouldn't say it's a 'foodie' type of place, but if you're looking for a place with really good, basic food that will satisfy a group with everyday tastes, this is a great choice. (We were dining there with older parents who have pretty mainstream tastes in food.) The ribs were some of the best I've ever had, and the rest of the food was also very good. Not an especially trendy spot, but you'll be pleased with the food, and your family will be happy that they recognize all or most of the words on the menu.
Pro tip: If you get there for happy hour (before 6 on the day we were there) the $5 drink menu was actually quite good. I got an old fashioned that was just as good as any $10 or $12 version I've had at trendier locations. So I had two!
Stopped in to the Russell Smokehouse in the mood for some authentic barbecue. I was not disappointed. I had the full rack of baby back ribs, broccoli rob and black beans and bacon. All were delicious and the service was great. Worth the stop.
This was our 1st visit. I was happy about the happy hours prices on food and drink, then disappointed when told that all of the baby back ribs were gone already. The waiter was very personable but slow on filling up my water. Since I only drink water, it's a gauge that I use when eating out. It seems that service is usually better when serving pricey drinks, but those drinks took a while to arrive from the bar. Also disappointed to find that the wild boar listed on the menu was not available, that would have been fun to try. The food was pretty good, we love our BBQ! The caramelized pineapple ice cream was appreciated when offered for my birthday treat. We'll be back to try it all again.
Wonderful spectacular super fantastic delicious & thank you
Great food and even better pricing during happy hour! During happy hour they have baby back ribs for $1 each rib... AMAZING deal and is SOOOO good!
Food and service were excellent
Service was very good. Ribs were mostly fat,; not much meat. Stupid rule that you can't have happy hour on the far side of a wall in the place. We had to sit there because we had 5 people, so no happy hour. That left a bad taste in my mouth.
The food is so terrific...I am always shocked when they are not packed! YUM!!!
All was well. Good food. Good service. However ... there is an extremely unpleasant odor at the restroom area. Not a "toilet" smell but something I can't quite describe. Unpleasant enough that it's a real evening killer. How can management ignore that???
Russell's is a great BBQ restaurant in Larimer Square area. The food is fabulous and the staff are great and go out of there way to make your dining out a pleasure. If your not familiar you have to look for it because it's down a set a stairs but trust me it's worth it.
Second time we had been there...it was known as Green Russell's back then. Great BBQ and spot on service.
What's not to like about red meat slow-cooked with fire and smoke? The burnt ends were succulent and the pulled pork was a hearty compliment to mac n' cheese. Wash it down with a craft beer and mmmmmm.
Great BBQ, very nice staff, we love this place.
So great! The food was amazing and so was the service. This BBQ joint offers a much more unique and appetizing menu than most places. Cheesy bacon bombs were....the bomb!
Loved the pork shoulder and sides. Tender and moist pork. The brisket dinner was flavorful but on the dry side. Delicious strawberry rhubarb pie. Cocktails were also well done.
I love this place. The sauces and apps are amazing. Everything on the menu is good and the drinks are spectacular. It’s always hot in the dining area and cramped in the back section so if you get stuck by a loud talker there is no escape. I prefer to sit up front.
The food is always great. The people there are fantastic. My family from ND said out was the best BBQ they have ever had.
Great food and great service! I would highly recommend the food. The bbq sauces are great!
Great to go to a place where service is treated and importantly as the food. If you want great BBQ in Denver, then this is your place.
Excellent service and excellent food. Kinda upscale down home BBQ with a twist!
Great location and great food. To make it even better our server was awesome!! Fantastic customer service and highly recommend eating here
Great food at Russell's Smokehouse-- the BBQ was tasty and good overall. Chicken was a bit tough and not moist, but the pork and brisket were tasty and tender. The garlic mashed potatoes were yummy, also.
outstanding BBQ. excellent sauces. Sides were delicious, too. I'm still thinking about the roasted sprouts. Service was prompt and friendly. Can't wait to go back.
Great cocktails and family style BBQ dinner enjoyed celebrating a birthday at Russell's.
Took the family for dinner. Food was really good, especially the ribs. Appetizers were a little pricy. Waiters were nice, but didn't seem to want to spend much time at our table. Took our plates without asking if we were done with food still on our plate and gave us a dessert menu, but then brought our check without asking if we wanted any.
Food was excellent, I tried the combo plate. All cuts had great flavor and were tender. It was nice to have options of three types of sauces (spicy, sweet or mustard based). Will return next time I'm visiting Denver.
Waiter kind of forgot our table. Told us about their pie event and never came back. Had to finally ask another staff person for our bill.
Simply outstanding food. This was a great find on our 4th trip to Denver, so sad we didn't find it sooner. Bacon cheese bombs are well... bomb, as is the que!
