Russell House Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Terrible service, mediocre food served tepid. The waiter dropped a tray of drinks all over my husband and my purse and barely apologized. No one came over to us until the end of the meal when we said we were hoping maybe a round of drinks oils be comped. The manager then came over and said to write an email and a dry cleaning bill. In the end they did not complete the round. I guess they forgot. Also, the downstairs dining room smells as if it has it been thoughtless cleaned. It was bad
The wait staff was great.
The food was good, maybe even very good, but not outstanding, or brilliantly creative/imaginative.
Most of the dining is on the lower level, which is mercifully quieter, if not quiet, but lacks much of a vibe. The lower level decor is not especially imaginative.
They have an outstanding location in Harvard Square.
The outdoor dining in nice weather is a real plus.
We will go back. But I haven't developed a sense of passion about Russell House Tavern, yet. Maybe on my/our next try.
Had a really nice birthday meal for my girlfriend. Only problem was we made a dinner reservation for 8PM and at about 8:15 they tried to seat us in the bar. I explained I had made a dinner reservation and wanted to sit in the dining room. We were eventually given a table in the dining room after a bit more of a wait. After that, everything went very well.
We went here for Brunch while running an errand to Harvard Yard area. Always love the food here and just the right kind of energy. The waitress who took our order was quite nice and cheerful. My wife ordered bacon extra crispy and eggs. Another lady brought us our entrees and my wife asked for salt and pepper and asked very nicely that the bacon (not crispy) be sent back to the kitchen. this waitress actually scowled at my wife!!! Really!! needs to be retrained.
Unfortunately, quality was a bit uneven for our brunch meal. I had two poached eggs, and one was basically hard boiled. A friend ordered two eggs over medium, and the tools were barely set. At the end of the meal we split the bill across two credit cards, and the waitress misbilled is. To her credit, she noticed this and came back to rerun the cards.
This was the worst New Years I can remember in a while. We were seated immediately with a Rez. However a crazy grandma and her family started screaming throughout the dinner demanding a taken table near us. The grandson was horrific even coming up and touching my husband at one time. We complained about the screams but nothing was comped.
Came here for a friends reunion. It was a perfect spot & they put us at a great table. Food came out quickly and was delicious. The burger was so good & loved that it was on an English muffin! Not too much bread. Drinks were good and moderately priced. Will come back again soon!
Welcoming tavern style restaurant where families with children are comfortable at brunch along with the usual Harvard Square devotees. The brunch menu wasn't huge, but there were options and the food was tasty and well prepared. Though the servers were friendly, there was a certain amount of confusion about orders and they seemed a little disorganized.
