Great place on Harvard Sq to meet with friends for lunch or dinner! It would be ideal if the music level can be turned down just a bit in the evenings. Otherwise, perfect!
Our server Ray was attentive and pleasant. The food was wonderful
We were visiting our college granddaughter for lunch. inside with windows open upstairs ,high top tables. a little too noisy for our liking. Might have been better downstairs at regular tables. BUT the choices of food were varied enough for the three of us all with different desires and cooked very well. Service speed was not slow, but just perfect. Waitstaff helpful and around when needed ..we would come back. Parking in the lot suggested worked very well. Streets were very crowded. Walking would have been good too. Many thanks to all involved
Great customer service, but for the price I’d expect a better tasty food and drinks
The last time I was at Russel, House, the server "forgot" my order. And again, the server "forgot" my drink order. There were tables with more diners (bigger tips) and things got busy, but seriously, how much trouble can it be to get a glass of cider? Apparently it takes 4 different people. That being said, the pizza and the creme brulée were delicious!
Had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! Our server was incredible, food was delicious and I enjoyed the drinks!
Very good food and service at Russell House Tavern! Nice outdoor setup
This was dinner with a friend before she heads out of town for a few months. Victor was our server and did an excellent job helping me pick out a wine as well as describing the dishes on the menu.
My only dissatisfaction was with the very limited wines by the glass list. Only 5-6 for both White/Rose and Red offerings and all from The west coast. Not one wine from France, Spain, Chile, Argentina, Italy, or NY. Not even a French Rose. Didn’t look at the by the bottle list so that may be better.
And what was offers was not very interesting, well known, or high quality producers or regions. It’s too bad as I liked the food.
Meh. Menu overpromises but the food under-delivers. The atmosphere is great, though. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.
Everything was good
Chef Brian Pawalik is the best around! The food was great and the ambiance is so charming. Thanks for a wonderful evening out!
Good for brunch. The outdoor space is cute. Food was pretty good!
I had a nice brunch with friends here. The service was fantastic; we had an excellent waitress. The food was good. While the makeshift patio was directly next to a busy sidewalk, it still felt like there was plenty of space between us and the walkers.
Lunch for two-outside-service great. Food was good but with tax and tip, the bill came to 75.00 for a burger, small pizza, one drink each, and tea/coffee. Just seemed a bit pricey for the quality. Good selection on menu though.
The steak au poive had no au poive and was a TERRIBLE piece of meat, hard to cut and chew. Brussels sprouts and asparagus could have been cooked a little longer. Cocktails were very weak and my glass was filled with cheater ice cubes. Pan seared salmon was good. Wait staff was quick and attentive, but the kitchen and bar were very poor. Not likely to try any of the other eateries in the Russell House group
Went for Sunday brunch and sat outdoors. Ambiance was nice and waiter was lovely but they were too busy. We waited an hour for our food and then two of four of us had issues with undercooked food. Have had dinner here several times and it's always been great so this might be an exception.
Great service and ambiance! Excellent food and drinks! :-)
Dinner with niece who just started Harvard Law school
We were seated outside on a lovely night, so that was great. The waitress was nice but we waited a long time for service throughout the meal, which was fine for us as we had a lot of catching up to do. The food was fine, but a bit disappointing. The price was good, especially for our long night enjoying sidewalk dining in Harvard Square.
Great meals, including what I call the “brisket explosion”, and delightful service from Emily! Also, very cool vintage photos of Harvard Square establishments from what looks like the 1940s.
Great food, service and atmosphere.
Was a great night waitress was really good and the good was delicious
We were seated on time (had a reservation outside), in a nice shaded part of the patio off the street. The server was very accomodating and pleasant. We shared several appetizers, as well as had wine. Everything was good and nicely portioned.
Delicious! Great service at both the bar and table. Our party loved the food and cocktails.
Excellent service and appetizers were delicious
Great place to get a quick bite to eat for brunch. Their outdoor dining on the street can get quite loud with traffic going by.
Nice outdoor seating! Would recommend the Nutella stuffed French toast for brunch
The restaurant snd bar are very nice- we enjoyed the atmosphere except it was incredibly loud and made conversation with our dining partners difficult.
All 3 loved their dishes- pork chop, farro bowl and cavatelli. I got the recommend chicken sandwich- I should have know better. Incredibly dry. With a burnt bun.
French fries were amazing- to be fair, I would go back just for them.
Very quick service! Really enjoyed our dinner
The food came out very quick! Staff was very kind. However, there were not that many waiters/waitresses working and it took us a long time to get our check.
Great place to get small plates. Fun vibe looking out at Harvard Square people passing by.
Russel House Tavern is decent! They made their ordinary dishes look presentable, but I wish they took the pandemic more seriously by spreading out their tables. I had to ask the waiter to seat us outside because indoor seating was too cramped.
Very college bar type vibe. Food was mediocre at best. Extremely noisy. Would not go back
A really nice place for 4+ big parties
This is one of our favorite date night spots. The food is always great and the outdoor patio seating in the summer is our favorite.
Nice place new and great atmosphere.. food is ok no wow factor
The food was not the greatest here. We had the steak frites, which lacked seasoning and were not cooked to our liking, and the fried chicken sandwich, which was also lacking in flavor. The brussel sprout appetizer was good though. Also had the Rose Sangria which was not very good either. Even though the food wasn't the best, the service was outstanding! We may try it again for brunch next time!
Great tavern-ambience, All-American food choice. Pizza is great!
What a wonderful experience! Hunter’s serving skills are on point. Open palms when setting and taking plates, signals well, well spoken, efficient, perfectly timed ordering and extremely warm and friendly. The food was delicious, as were the drinks! Thank you Hunter for a perfect evening!
