What a wonderful experience! Hunter’s serving skills are on point. Open palms when setting and taking plates, signals well, well spoken, efficient, perfectly timed ordering and extremely warm and friendly. The food was delicious, as were the drinks! Thank you Hunter for a perfect evening!
Steak was ok
Lovely outdoor seating. And service was very quick! My sister and I ordered a salad, which was very delicious. Our one complaint is that the portion was very small. Usually salads are a decent size, but this one was in a bowl that was slightly bigger than a cereal bowl. I left the restaurant still feeling a bit hungry. Other than that, it was excellent. My boyfriend and brother in law loved their food!
Food was excellent. However, after requesting only one bill for the table the server asked my mother if she was sure about wanting that. It was insulting and embarrassing. As much as we enjoyed dinner we won’t be back.
Service and food were excellent. We were in the bar. Had a new server and he was excellent!
Excellent food and service! Great bar and atmosphere.
One of my favorite spots in the Boston Area. Always quick and a great experience for the whole group.
Menu was great - love the attention to finer details in each dish and careful attention given to food allergies proactively by the wait staff. Cocktails are well crafted and always something fun/new to try
Very good service though the pizza crust was a bit burnt and maybe a bit more cheese on the marguerita. The tomato sauce flavor was a bit overwhelming. Other than that, great place to eat and have drinks;)
I love this restaurant. We started with a raw seafood patter which was excellent. The Mr. Martinez drink was excellent. My only issue was that the pork chop I ordered was incredibly overcooked. This was especially disappointing because I spoke to the waiter about it and asked that she tell the chef that he cook it under, as I really do not like pork over cooked.
Great place to meet friends for anything from a bite to a full meal.
Service and food is spectacular, I come here often! Will be back soon:)
Whole belly clam roll didn’t have too much “clam” to it - it was mostly fried matter. Fish and chips was mostly fries with a couple of small pieces of fish. Better quality food can be had at VFW for half the price. The addition of an automatic kitchen tax/fee is ridiculous.
Cocktail was pretty weak. Fries served cold. Three small portions of fish. Fish and chips seems like the kind of thing you can't ruin, but I was wrong.
Reliable and local.
We were seated at our reservation time in a comfortable booth. Our waitress was very attentive and thorough. The food was excellent. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience.
Boyfriends birthday dinner- it was a very nice time!
I was meeting a friend for our weekly get-together. It was crowded, and the noise level made it difficult to converse.
In the past, Russell House Tavern was a great place to dine and socialize; however, as of late, service has drastically diminished. I have visited twice over last 3 weeks and each visit, host had issues seating us timely and in areas we'd reserved seating. Wait staff, while busy is understandable, no one should have to wait at least 15-20 minutes just to get a menu and water (to start)...especially when you can see the wait staff socializing with one another, and/or on their phones. For some time, I have refrained from thinking, and/or voicing my concerns from a "racially charged" perspective, as I would like to give all "benefit of doubt"; however, the issues noted were not happening to other patrons of the "lighter skin tones". In fact, several groups/couples that did not have reservations (as we could hear conversations) were immediately seated prior to our table. Needless to say, there are too many other, more classy, options for dinner/drinks/socializing in the city of Boston to return. Russell House - Do Better, Be Better...Love Is Love, we are all human.
soda was flat, food was okay, quality of food not a good as pre-pandemic, hopefully they can bounce back as it was a nice place.
Consistently good food and service. Nice area for outside dining and a good variety of drink and food options. I’ll be back again.
Staff were friendly and nice and our drinks were good but the food was inedible. Couldn't even taste the calamari because it had been so overfried it was just a crunchy, charred mess of batter. We'd made a reservation for dinner but paid up and left after our appetizer and went elsewhere.
Food flavors were exceptional, as was the service. Will definitely be coming back!
Ok for years the food and drinks here have been PHENOMENAL. I’ve never had a disappointing bite or sip here!!!! NEVER. NEVER!!! Nothing but hits from Russell House. I think our server’s name was Rami - Rami was sweet, fun, helpful, kind, such a good time. Thank you RAMI!!!!
The quintessential Harvard Square tavern. With gastropub quality food. And great vibe.
SO GLAD you made it through COVID and are going strong!
The food’s okay, but the French fries were overcooked, and I noticed that the prices increased significantly, but the good quality doesn’t sustain or justify the prices.
sat outside in the really beautiful side alley , food was good and it was a nice nite. highly recommended.
Great food and wonderful service
We had great service, as always! Our server was especially friendly and attentive!
Our server forgot about us a lot.
we had an excellent! She was a blonde lady training that night and was so nice and knowledgeable
Very clean. Servers attentive. Well-timed delivery of courses. Good food and beverages.
Loved the frozen margarita, tuna tartare, and the mushroom and leek pizza. Had great service and loved the atmosphere.
We ordered the Tavern breakfast and the pork sausage was served to us raw in the middle. When we tried to discuss this with the waitress she said “I don’t eat meat.” We asked to have it re cooked and they sent out bacon and then charged us for it . There was no sense of what was being plated and no management available/willing to discuss. Unfortunately we will not return.
The music was bad top40 and too loud. Service was great but the food was only OK. If it had been half the price, we would have been fine but for a $100 meal, the dishes were too oily and flavors not fresh.
We made a reservation for 3 ppl in advance and were seated in a cramped corner booth for 2. We were then (after we asked) moved to a table that felt like we were in the middle of everything while there were better tables and open booths. They had no lobster roll as we were told they couldn’t compete against their sister restaurant…. So they stopped making them. We left at that point.
The experience was disappointing. It was our favorite spot in Cambridge…
Our server did not seem concerned about us at all.
Just beginning to get back out there after pandemic. Arrived before the crowds on a Friday afternoon. Got a high top by the front windows and enjoyed the people watching from my seat. Started with delicious Wellfleet oysters and shared a sausage ricotta pizza after. Our server was a standout. She was very friendly and patient with us, true professional. Very much enjoyed my whole experience and return to Russell House after the pandemic hiatus. I will be back soon.
Nice ambience but the menu offerings were just unavailable !
