Runway 22 Casual Italian Bar & Grill Ratings and Reviews
Unlike other reviews, we found the service to be very good. Our server, Paul, was appropriately attentive. Our appetizers were very good. We had the arancini and truffle fries. The only drawback was the entrees. They were in need of some seasoning. We had the southern fried chicken and veal scallopini, both of which could have been improved with some punch. We will definitely return to try other dishes on the menu.
The waitress spilled the entire tray of water on my back, she did apologize, but nonetheless I was wet and uncomfortable. Never came out with replacement waters, appetizer took over an hour to come out, the entrees took another 35 minutes after the appetizer was cleared away. Waitress would go MIA, never checked back and we overheard her ask someone else to watch the table while she went for a cigarette break.
We received the check and nothing was comped after slow service and water all over my jacket and back. Overall, although the food was good, our party would NOT return back.
This place was a complete disaster on Saturday night. We got there at 6:15 and didn't get done till 8:45. The service wasn't slow it was glacial. Our server did the best she could but the kitchen was just so slow. Tons of mistakes on our orders, drinks were incredibly slow as well. Tho the menu was extensive and prices reasonable, it just isn't worth your time or effort.
Runway 22 is a great addition to the Fairfield dining scene. The casual but refined atmosphere is good for all ages. The bar has great happy hour specials. The bartenders and the wait staff are all very friendly The menu is varied with most items under $20. I have been here a couple of times and both times I ordered off of the daily specials menu. This time I went with a delicious ahi tuna entree. The sauce was spicy but not too hot. The entrees come with a house salad which is a nice touch. Also, be sure to download their app. I cashed in a $5 discount from the app plus I got another punch on my punch card so I am three entrees away from a free one. Will definitely return
My husband and I came here with a friend for the first time. Not knowing what to expect of the food, we all took a chance and ordered fish. Our friend had the catfish bites and the fish scampi--he said the scampi was excellent. We shared the snapper livornaise, which was also very good. We also shared the angry clams and mussels appetizer, which was perfectly spicy and delicious. Our server, Mark, was nice, attentive, and very patient, since we took a long time. Anthony, the owner, came over to chat. He's very personable. He told us the story of how he changed the name of the restaurant from Runway 44, because local pilots complained to him that the actual runway at the airport across the street was #22.
We won't hesitate to come back. Very good food and service and very reasonable prices.
Probably the biggest disappointment was the service. Our waiter was not very attentive. It took a while for him to get there. He was not very friendly or helpful. We had to call him over a few times when we needed things because he never came over to ask if we needed anything. The food was ok but one of the meals came out relatively cold.
We won't be going back.
Disappointed. Asked for a table rather than a booth or half-booth. Seated at a half-booth.
My wife asked for a baked potato, they don't have baked potato's. The server suggested Russet Potato's, she got French Fries. I had Chicken Scarparello. The sauce was good, the Chicken was dry. Otherwise the dish did have good taste. I know they have just switched to a "Sports Bar/Restaurant", maybe they need a little time to get things right. The servers need to be more familiar with the menu and what is or is not available. Overall it was comfortable and the bar area looked very attractive.
This restaurant was fantastic. Traditional Italian with an expert culinary touch. There was almost too much food and the Chef even came out of the kitchen to see how our food was prepared. The guys even got to watch the game while the wives chatted all from the same table.
