The pastries were not as good as previous times. The servers were very accommodating. Unfortunately the music in the background was not conducive to an afternoon tea experience.
Absolutely wonderful as always. Beautiful being in the mountains, the view is spectacular. The staff are always great. You can’t beat high tea (or any other meal) at the Banff Springs.
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our Afternoon Tea at the Banff Springs! The staff were extremely accommodating of my dietary restrictions and for that I am very grateful. We really enjoyed the food, the views and the service, and hope to be back soon!
We took Grandma out to Banff for High Tea in the Rundle Lounge and the whole experience was wonderful from the view, to the delicious treats with tea. We even had asked for a special request for our young Princesses and the Fairmont went above and beyond to put a little extra sparkle in their day. Thank you to Sandy and the rest of the team we could not see behind the scenes that made our trip out with Grandma and the girls so much more than we were expecting. I highly recommend taking a little extra drive to Banff to visit the Fairmont for tea.
Great afternoon high tea! My fiance and I loved it! We asked for a seat with a view and they delivered!
The wife and I went for High Tea
Air conditioning would have been nice because it was hot.
We had a wonderful experience having tea at Rundle Bar! Lauren was lovely and we really enjoyed the Canadian tea. There was also a live pianist. Beautiful views of the mountains!
Not as regal as it’s been over the years since the modern renovations, little more Gatsby than Royalty. David was an amazing server and made the experience that much better. The game of Croquet in the courtyard after was a nice finish.
It is the most beautiful setting to experience. The staff were all so friendly and attentive and the food so expertly prepared and presented. We all enjoyed our experience immensely
Wonderful service. Excellent food and quality.
Lovely afternoon tea in wonderful surroundings and very disciplined Covid 19 protocols in place
Though the refurbishment of the Rundle Bar is beautiful the ambiance of afternoon tea has changed and we were really disappointing. Previously afternoon tea was upstairs with a beautiful view of the mountains. There were table cloths on the tables, the teas were brought to the table so you could smell them. For such an expensive treat the ambiance was sorely lacking. I want to say a huge kudos to our waitress. She was lovely.
The move from upstairs at the Rundle Restaurant to downstairs in the crowded sun room area was a huge disappointment because the view is obstructed by the patio, fences, serving equipment for the outside tables, and people. Part of what has kept us coming back for high tea for many, many years is the experience of the high tea, and most importantly, the dramatic view we enjoyed from the upstairs seating. We have brought many groups of people over the past 25 years (groups of up to 15) to enjoy the experience along with the fabulous views - it was a winning combination. It is not worth what we spent (we brought friends who had never been to the Banff Springs for high tea) without the view afforded by the upstairs seating. We have always thought the experience is 50% the high tea and 50% the amazing views and this combination is what has kept us coming back for so many years. I don't think it will be such a draw for us in the future, or an experience we will recommend to others - not for the high tea.
Afternoon Tea was fun for the family. Amazing views.
Nice atmosphere, high quality service, delicious food. This is the lovely place where you want to return.
Very nice place. Beautiful surroundings, very comfortable place, and the top service expected of a Fairnmont Hotel
High tea was such an amazing experience. Was very tasty. The tea and snacks where high quality. The atmosphere is very fancy.
The snacks were too sweet too dry. And the waitress even told me that gorgonzola is safe for pregnancy?!
We had excellent service! Canapés that are a bit lighter (less gluten) would be appreciated. The salmon was delicious but it rested on a thick (too thick) cake like canapé. The scones were good as well as the creams to accompany them. The desserts were delicious too. The classic cucumber sandwich was a success. Thank you for the memorable experience.
Unfortunately the booking was moved to a different restaurant which does not have the same ambience or feel as the Rundle Room
The lack of an enforced dress code also takes away from the overall experience
The first time I went for High Tea at the Banff Springs it was in a beautiful room with amazing Mountain View’s. However, on February 23rd the regular room was under renovations and the tea was in a room which had zero view. The food was great but the atmosphere was lacking. I won’t go back until it’s back in its regular spot. I wish we had Ben notified before.
My 96 year old Mother and I spent Valentine’s Day in Banff waiting for our 2.30 reservation for High Tea in the Rundle Lounge only to be told that the tea was in another area of the hotel which meant pushing her wheelchair with oxygen in tow outside and through snow and ice to the “The Gate House”. After finding the correct floor 17th (no one around to ask), we were seated in a room with no view of the resort or mountains. A young man served us “High Tea” which consisted of stale sandwiches and scones...never to see him again. After finishing our cold pots of tea.. I flagged down a female server and got our bill. Banff Springs ...Truly Disappointing and I will be writing to their Executive.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are very sorry to hear of your disappointment, particularly on such a special occasion. As the Rundle Bar is currently under construction, our Afternoon Tea is being served in Castello Italiana. This is noted on our confirmation email and discussed over the phone when we confirm reservations. While Castello Italiana does not have the same views as Rundle, this newly renovated space has 360 views of the Castle and Sulphur mountain.
Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. This is always a nice treat
High tea at the Fairmont is currently being served in the Gatehouse Italian restaurant. While we have nothing to compare it to while the Rundle Room is being renovated, the atmosphere was still quite lovely. The service too was fantastic- we were looked after by Kurtis.
Unfortunately the food was quite disappointing - sandwiches were very dry and scones like bullets. We felt like the items had been prepared earlier in the day en masse and left out. Certainly a lot of food but nothing I would return to try again.
My fiancee and I had a wonderful time at the Banff Springs Hotel for afternoon tea. Emily, our server, was extremely knowledgeable, attentive, warm and welcoming. She truly elevated the experience for us.
Great food and great service 😊
Attended high tea with my 3 year old for her birthday. She loved it! Thank you!
What a lovely way to spend a chilly afternoon with my daughter.
It will be great when they can relocate back to usual venue but cannot fault service or food,
I wish I had allowed more time!
The afternoon tea at the Banff Springs Hotel is world famous. Unfortunately, the Hotel is having renovations where the afternoon tea is usually held.
I certainly missed the view. The mountains are an absolute attraction and I missed them terribly.
While the food and service were 100% top notch....I really wanted to just enjoy that amazing view with my afternoon tea.
We enjoyed our High Tea experience. As we had had previous High Tea at other Fairmont resorts we had a level of expectation that was met. The food was incredible and the portions more than satiating. Unfortunately due to renovations the High Tea was served in the Castillo Italiano which took away from the ambience. As well they were short staffed that day and we waited quite some time to be acknowledged and seated. Service was otherwise wonderful!
I absolutely loved the high tea experience! We got to smell the teas before choosing which one we wanted to have. The food was amazing - I’m usually a bit fussy about what I like, but I loved pretty much everything they put out for us (there were only one or two I didn’t like as much). The service was fantastic. The only downside was that the Rundle Bar is under renovations, so we were in the Castello Italiana instead. I did know this prior to booking, but I thought we would still have amazing views since we were in the middle of the mountains. The view was okay, but the windows were small, and only one of the seats faced the window. I would still recommend this experience, but I’d also recommend waiting until the renovations are done so you have the best view to go along with the experience.
Our server Meghan was awesome!!
I took my 8 year old for a high tea birthday and it was amazing! I am gluten free and there was so much to eat. It was incredible. Indulge in this high tea experience. Disclaimer, Jan -April high tea is not in the Rundle room.
This review is mostly for our waitress, Sara. She was extremely warm and knowledgeable about the menu. We felt right at home in this gorgeous setting. Sara was super accommodating and friendly even while busy with multiple tables. The food and tea were very well presented and tasted just as delicious. The breathtaking view is definitely the star of the show up there. Highly recommend trying!
Excellent service, breath taking view, and delicious food! I would definitely recommend their experience.
Enjoyed afternoon tea for a relaxing time. My server was excellent and very knowledgeable about the art of tea.
My only concern was the music level coming from somewhere. Too loud for my taste.
Our server, a young East Indian fellow, was superb.
We came for an afternoon tea. So much food, so come hungry. Great experience.
The service was slow on Saturday. We felt like we were waiting for everything. Usually at afternoon tea it’s quick to get your tea and food and then they let you enjoy and check in on you to see how things are going. We waited approximately 45 minutes for the tea pots to be refilled with hot water. It almost seemed like the waitress forgot about our table.
Delicious desserts and amazing tea selection! Well presented.
