Rumpus Room Ratings and Reviews
It's nice to see that the restaurant added some "specials" aside from the regular menu. Our choices were from the specials and were delicious. Service is always prompt, professional and friendly. Servers are vigilant about ensuring food is served in a timely manner if you have an event that you are attending after dinner, such as a MSO concert.
This restaurant never disapppoints us with tasty and featured food such as the Signature Bacon, Scotch Egg, Pretzel, Pork Shoulder and Sandwiches. The service is very considerate as well. Great ambience too - People are talking but the noice level is moderate and just adds to the neighborhood style atmosphere. I can't wait to go back there again.
We had a really wonderful time at Rumpus Room. The menu had just changed to the fall menu and the selections were lovely. We especially enjoyed the new Fall pork dish. And the cheddar selection, I think it was a 12 year, was out of this world. Of course, we can never pass on our basic favorites, the cheese curds and the bacon strips, I hope those never leave the menu. We only wish we would have had room to sample desserts, but the dishes are very hearty and large portions, so we had no room left. Our server, Patrick, was incredible as always. No matter how busy things are, he always slows down to have the exact conversations we want and he knows every menu listing inside out. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone I know.
Stopped here for dinner before the performance at the PAC this weekend. Service was poor: took a while for server to stop by table, she then asked if we were on a time crunch, said no, we were seeing the show but it starts at 8 and we were there at 530. She then poured our waters and walked away. Did not take drink order. Watched her stop by both tables on either side of us, clearing plates, bringing food, bringing check, before she came back to take drink order. Food and everything else was wonderful. At close to end of meal, server stopped by and asked if we needed boxes, said oh probably not since you’re going to show and left again. I still was holding the sandwich in my hand, mid bite. Finished meal and had another drink at the bar instead of getting dessert and another round of drinks at the table.
We had tickets to the show across the street and thought this would be a great option given the location and that it is a Bartolatta restaurant which we have had great experiences at in the past. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed and, surprisingly, the food was the disappointment. We ordered the wings which were bland and fatty and the entrees were nothing to rave about. In particular, I ordered the Salmon which lacked flavor and was under cooked for almost a $30 price tag. I would have been better off, and more satisfied, with a burger for half the price. We will not be back
We met friends prior to the Symphony, and chose Rumpus Room partially for the location. We wanted something light for dinner so our group of four choose appetizers and salads. We had arrived in time to have happy hour priced drinks and appetizers, and our waiter was accommodating as we had a short time left to get our order in prior to happy hour ending. We ordered deviled eggs and rumaki. The rumaki was fine, although greasy. The eggs seemed to have a layer of "oil or butter" they were sitting on and the yoke though creamy had an odd taste. The salads were the biggest disappointment. Three of four of us ordered the Prosciutto and Burrata Salad and the 4th person ordered the Simple Salad with Chicken. Neither salads were dressed well, almost flavorless. The Simple Salad was just that with about 3 oz of Chicken.
The Prosciutto Salad had so little prosciutto you barely saw it, the Burrata looked like a poached egg, and was very soft, this salad also shaved asparagus and artichoke advertised and it was so thinly shaved you could not easily find it. It was such a poor excuse for a salad that cost $12.95.
Then one person ordered the bread pudding for desert, it was really a piece of cake, without any sauce or topping. We will not be returning!
We had a disappointing experience at Rumpus Room on Saturday evening. As it was a lovely night, we asked to be seated outside; however, the outside tables seemed mostly forgotten--although there were half a dozen occupied tables. Everything was on the slow side, and when drinks were served they didn't even come with a cocktail napkin. The condensation off the glasses dripped all over us and the table. No condiments or salt and pepper were on the tables, and while the server was friendly and helpful, problems were evident. Especially for their prices, they need to up their game.
