Rumpus Room is a great restaurant with some great tap beers and a huge whiskey selection set in a beautiful room. It's a European style gastro pub in downtown Milwaukee that combines adventurous but approachable, comforting food and one of the best craft beer and cocktail programs in the city.

The Rumpus Room offers a laid-back casual dining experience and features a spacious bar, an intimate dining room, a charcuterie area and a separate private event space. The menu emphasizes local, sustainable ingredients whenever possible, and the bar offers more than 20 beers on tap and more than 100 in bottles, plus a craft cocktail menu that changes with the seasons.

My wife and I enjoy Rumpus Room often, since we have season tickets to the theater across the street. Food is always spectacular! This time was no exception...first time having the braised pork shoulder, and it was great. Main reason for writing a review, however, was the service. Our waiter Nick was OUTSTANDING! They can be really busy on theater show nights, and in the past have gotten a little backed up. Nick had a full section, but he was completely on top of everything! Great attitude, very responsive. Overall experience was even better than usual!

Never had a bad meal here. I've come here 4 times a year for the last 5 years (special dates) and it's always a home run food wise. Never have to risk having a disappointing meal here, which is why I return. The atmosphere is excellent as well.

This was our first time eating at the Rumpus Room, however we have eaten at and enjoy other Bartolottas restaurants. The service and overall ambiance of this restaurant were great, however the food was mediocre at best. I had the scallops which was decently tasty. They were cooked just right and were served with carrots and a fennel paste. My husband and I always share our meals and he ordered the fish fry, which in both of our opinions, was gross. There were three large pieces of breaded fish, however the breading on the fish was overly thick and lacked flavor. I generally don’t peel the breading off of fried fish, but we both peeled at least half of the breading off. Also, the tartar sauce was very odd...I ended up eating half a piece of fish and a couple french fries and called it quits. We would not order the Friday fish fry here again. We will stick with the tried and true Lakefront Brewery or County Clare for that! Anyways, not great, we won’t be back, though the restaurant may be ok for a business lunch of something of the sort if you work downtown.

Fish fry was one of the worst I’ve had in MKE in 35 years, and significantly worse than the FFs we’ve been having at RR since it opened. Fish over-battered & under-seasoned, potato pancakes thick, over-battered & under-seasoned. They’ve been too thin on every other visit, now, they’re WAY too thick & taste like glue. Coleslaw good. In MKE, we commonly serve fish fry w slice of good rye bread. Beer vessels keep getting smaller: suggest you buy some pint glasses. RR seems headed in a very bad direction.

we had a nice time. the food was good and the environment was conducive to fun conversation. the service was slightly obtrusive -- we were interrupted a lot to ask whether things were OK.

We like to dine out on the occasions when our symphony night comes around. We discovered Rumpus Room is just across the street. Make our reservations and we are on our way. The service is great, the drinks come fairly quick & the food is delicious. Make your own charcuterie
is cool, every time we come in we are interested in trying something new! Everyone should try Rumpus Room at least once!

Great schnitzel and drinks! They had difficulty getting tables together for our reservation, had to wait 15-20 minutes with our group of 7 at the bar when we had arrived in time. After that, it was smooth sailing!

What a complete disappointment! Service was abysmal, one waiter for 10 tables, only got better when the place emptied. Food was nothing to write home about. Got the impression this place has not figured out what it wants to be when it grows up! Noise was ungodly especially there was a high pitch squeal that bothered many.

Rumpus room is one of my favorite restaurants and once again it did not disappoint. The pork schnitzel is incredible...but this time I got the sea scallops that were fabulous as well. Our waiter Kevin was fantastic and he went above and beyond. Love this place!
