As always, the Rumpus Room makes the evening perfect. Our table was ready on time, our waiter was great, the food; local cheese plate, pork schnitzel, wedge salad, cheese soup, homemade ice cream and a nice bottle of Cabernet was EXCELLENT! We were on our way in plenty of time to see Bill Murray, sitting in the seventh row thanks to a Bartolotta promotion.
Like I said: Perfect!
Very convenient for Marcus Center. fast, friendly service, casual ambience. Good selection of beers.
Michelle is a fantastic server; her recommendations are spot on! I think it is fantastic to get an honest opinion when trying to decide between several options. Today I let her choose my meal and it was delicious!
The pasta special (pork with tagliatelle) was delicious but was a small portion for $23. My husband was still hungry after finishing his meal. He then ordered the chicken wings which were chewy and slimy in texture. They were not appetizing!
This is one of our favorite places. The food is always good - and it is not the same usual things as is in every restaurant. The servers are always pleasant and on top of things. Their rewards program is one of the best.
Small menu, but sandwiches were good. Sometime when I go there I really want to try the charcuterie platter
Rumpus Room offers some of the best variety downtown. The bar and happy hour are great value and also quite unique. We enjoyed a fabulous poutine with crispy fries, baked cheese curds, and the right amount of brown gravy (not soaked like some places). Dinner this time was the Cuban sandwich and MKE cheesesteak. The Cuban was awesome! The cheesesteak was good but the olive spread was a bit too strong for me. Beer options are also fantastic. Our staple to go for downtown dining.
Dark, cozy, old world warm atmosphere. Excellent food and local beers.
Dinner before concert. Good cocktails and food! Quick and efficient
Great Food, Excellent Service! We will definitely return.
Great food. Good cocktails. Nice atmosphere. Definitely will go back. Husband had steak and said it was one of the best he’s ever had. I had the pork schnitzel and it was great. We had 2 gluten intolerant guests with us and they were very accommodating.
It was excellent as usual! Great service also from Nick. We’ll be back for sure.
We had dinner there prior to a show at the PAC. Great service, food and ambience. Very good value, too.
Another downtown gem nearby the Pabst and Marcus theaters. The brown sugar bacon and wedge salads are great apps, and the pork shoulder and 414 burgers are excellent entrees. Excellent local and regional beer selections as well as an amazing brandy old fashioned.
We tried the Alaskan Halibut special and it was delicious. I would get it again.
This time was not consistent with past experiences dining at RR. and I have been there about 6 or 7 times in past 18 months. We were celebrating my mom's 80th. Both my mom and I ordered the coulotte steak. My mom's was chewy and lots of grizzle. Server was kind enough to have her entree removed from bill. Mine was served luke warm at best; so disappointing. A couple of items that my brother ordered were forgotten too so we had to remind server. And though I gave my parking ticket for validation since we were also going to Marcus performance, it was given back as though it was validated. It was not. I had to pay the $10. In spite of server deficiency, I'm going to give her benefit of the doubt. It was crazy busy Wed night. I'm thinking she is new-ish too. But she, Cass was friendly, pleasant, very responsive and overall on her way to being an amazing server and she didn't cook the food which was actually the most disappointing part of the evening. Not sure I will ever order coulotte steak again.
The food was ok, but definitely not worth the price. It was $75 for my husband and me to eat dinner, and we only had 1 glass of wine. It was busy in the restaurant as we were there before going to see a show, but the wait for our food was longer than I would have expected. Also, when we were finishing our meal, we couldn't find anyone to fill our water glasses or ask for the check. It took more than 5 minutes for someone to come around with water and then they got our waitress who brought our check.
Always enjoy the energy of Rumpus Room and the great service. Too loud to get the romantic stamp of approval and the bar area is too crowded now with tables there. Takes away some of the charm when you enter and makes the place too “busy” when you enter and exit. Need a little more Gengler shut folks.
Fantastic meal and extremely hospitable waitress Kayla. Went early pre-theatre before crowds accumulated on a Saturday night. Special surf and turf was exquisite... Recommended by Kayla. Was difficult to find parking...since we had not been here before...but that was the only drawback ! Highly recommend this place for a great date night.
Lots of fun! And very good food! Met a friend for dinner had not seen in awhile. Had a couple of glasses of wine and split up a bunch of appetizers. the rib appetizers were wonderful as was the bacon and deviled eggs. Highly recommend for some fun and different food choices.
We had the fish fry which was excellent. The service was good. We were able to be seated right at 615, the time we had our reservation.
The only negative was the noise level. It was very busy and quite loud.
Food was good, beer was tasty. Recommend for an early dinner, HH.
This is a great place to enjoy wonderful drinks and excellent food. From the very talented bar staff to the professional wait staff and kitchen staff, a wonderful experience overall.
The service was spotty at best. We would have ordered an after dinner drink if the waiter would have returned. Very loud, but probably because we were seated in an alcove with one additional table seating 8. The sandwich i ordered was very salty. Cocktails were good.
Awesome food and drink selection! Love the ambiance and look of the establishment also!
Loved it! Great food, ambiance and service. I highly recommend it!
Our waiter was a bit overwhelmed by the number of people he was serving
Ambiance was fantastic and the decor. The servers were very friendly and knew the menu well. The noise level was a bit high which I guess the restaurant cannot control. The drinks menu had some great varieties and the cocktails were phenomenal. The cutlery/plates were very ordinary looking. The food was just standard. There did not seem anything creative on the menu although the ingredients did look well chosen.Overall not the greatest food experience although will go for ambiance, cocktails and starters.
Went for my birthday. Great beers, service and specials
Great atmosphere, great service, and great food! We had never been to Milwaukee and were visiting for a concert. Great place to eat before the show. Highly recommend!
My wife and I enjoy Rumpus Room often, since we have season tickets to the theater across the street. Food is always spectacular! This time was no exception...first time having the braised pork shoulder, and it was great. Main reason for writing a review, however, was the service. Our waiter Nick was OUTSTANDING! They can be really busy on theater show nights, and in the past have gotten a little backed up. Nick had a full section, but he was completely on top of everything! Great attitude, very responsive. Overall experience was even better than usual!
Very good as always!
Never had a bad meal here. I've come here 4 times a year for the last 5 years (special dates) and it's always a home run food wise. Never have to risk having a disappointing meal here, which is why I return. The atmosphere is excellent as well.
This meal was disappointing at almost every level.
This was our first time eating at the Rumpus Room, however we have eaten at and enjoy other Bartolottas restaurants. The service and overall ambiance of this restaurant were great, however the food was mediocre at best. I had the scallops which was decently tasty. They were cooked just right and were served with carrots and a fennel paste. My husband and I always share our meals and he ordered the fish fry, which in both of our opinions, was gross. There were three large pieces of breaded fish, however the breading on the fish was overly thick and lacked flavor. I generally don’t peel the breading off of fried fish, but we both peeled at least half of the breading off. Also, the tartar sauce was very odd...I ended up eating half a piece of fish and a couple french fries and called it quits. We would not order the Friday fish fry here again. We will stick with the tried and true Lakefront Brewery or County Clare for that! Anyways, not great, we won’t be back, though the restaurant may be ok for a business lunch of something of the sort if you work downtown.
Fish fry was one of the worst I’ve had in MKE in 35 years, and significantly worse than the FFs we’ve been having at RR since it opened. Fish over-battered & under-seasoned, potato pancakes thick, over-battered & under-seasoned. They’ve been too thin on every other visit, now, they’re WAY too thick & taste like glue. Coleslaw good. In MKE, we commonly serve fish fry w slice of good rye bread. Beer vessels keep getting smaller: suggest you buy some pint glasses. RR seems headed in a very bad direction.
All was good
The food was incredible and the staff was very polite and enthusiastic! Great place to eat.
The ambiance is great... Hip, chic, casual. Good cocktails, excellent food, and fantastic service.
