This place has a nice ambiance and super friendly staff. My pub steak was a little salty but everything else was really good.
We came to Milwaukee to attend the MSO, and staying at the St Kate’s Arts Hotel our favorite dinner spot is naturally the Rumpus Room. Every time we visit the Rumpus Room we feel like we are seeing our good friends. Katie the bartender greeted us as we sat down for a pre-prandial Happy Hour drink. The Wisconsin Old Fashioned and the Rye Old Old did not disappoint. We ordered a Meat the seasoned mustard is delish paired with the salumi slices and the sharp cheese, olives, and crouton style bread.
When we moved to the dining room, Ron was our server at table. He recommended several dishes to help us decide, and we chose the Scallops with Heirloom grits and of course our Cheese Curds favorite as appetizers. For entrees we selected the Cuban Sandwich (very tasty) and a beef filet with wedge salad. Ron’s service was impeccable and we enjoyed chatting with him throughout dinner. For dessert we shared the Stout Brownie topped with ice cream.
Overall a great experience. The drink pricing is a bit spendy, but the liquor is top notch. The chef creates interesting dishes with balanced and unique seasoning choices that are well integrated into the dishes.
Really wish they could figure the congestion issue from where you enter to the host stand. Gets very crowded in that area.
Also, the metal chairs get uncomfortable really fast.
Food and service are amazing.
Great food and service, as always! I cannot wait to visit again when this Coronavirus nonsense is over.
Worth checking out. Cheese soup, is a must!
Food was great. Service was wonderful. Got there early, by the time we left, the place was pretty full for a weeknight.
The food we choose was delicious. The salmon was especially tasty. The lemon tart filling was nice and tangy with the right amount of tart but the crust was too hard.
Last summer we were in town for a show and dined at the Rumpus Room. When we knew we were coming back to the area to celebrate our anniversary, we just had to come back! Cassandra was an excellent waitress and the food was delicious. We usually don't do dessert, but did decide to get the Kentucky Pie. No regrets there, it was phenomenal! Thanks for a great evening!

Outstanding atmosphere, well crafted cocktails, and delicious meals. The appetizers were understated in their description, they were lovingly created with the high quality ingredients and very satisfying. The menu was diverse, playful, and did not fail to deliver. The wagyu ribeye melts in your mouth. Service was excellent, always present when you needed something, but never overbearing. This is one of Milwaukee’s true hidden gems. Don’t miss out!
Had a great time! Enjoyed the Old Fashion at the bar before dinner & had plenty of time to enjoy dinner. Staff was attentive but not bothersome!
Enjoyable meal before we went to see Lion King at the Marcus
We were on our way to attend a play and decided to start our evening with dinner at the Rumpus Room.
It was a busy place!
As always the food was excellent! (We have been there numerous times to eat!)
Our service was average. It seemed like they were short handed for staff. Our waitress was very nice and friendly but would disappear for long periods of time.
We will be back because we enjoy the menu there and the atmosphere.
We loved our server, Cass! She was excellent and so was the food.
Food moderately priced, but no bread, nothing prior to your meal. Missing half my meal so had to send it back. Service pretty good but it’s VERY loud in the restaurant. Was there for a date with my husband and we had to almost shout to each other.
Historically one of our favs but lately the food has been too greasy, too predictable, too heavy. A bit disappointing.
Went to dinner before the theater with friends and service was prompt, rumaki and bacon and eggs apps were delicious. Three of us had the fish fry, which was very good and my wife had the salmon, which was excellent.
Fantastic service! We had a large group for a retirement dinner. Everyone loved what they had!
We arrived for our 5:30 reservation and were very rushed the entire evening. It had been awhile since a friend and I had a chance to catch-up. We ordered a bottle of wine, which they were out of. They charged us the same price for a bottle they serve by the glass, which was obnoxious. We kept being pestered to order and pay. The restaurant was not busy so nobody was waiting for our table.
I was disappointed in how casual the servers are dressed. It was way too casual for the fine dining prices and atmosphere. Plus when I made the reservation I said we were celebrating a birthday but nothing special was done. The food was very good though.
Food was amazing
I get things change. But when I ask for something you don't sell any more, then when I ask for part of what it used to be, I sort of expect it to cost part of what it used to. Like with the whiskey from around the world flight - used to be 30-40ish dollars. For FOUR one ish ounce pours of misc booze from distant lands. Neat right? Literally went there solely for that. Don't have it any more. Fine. I'll have the one ounce pour of Lark, which was once one of the 4. Guess what that cost? ... THIRTY DOLLARS! I guess, shame on me for not scouring the menu for something that used to be included in a flight for under 40$. lol. Cmon. Not sure how an adult could serve me that knowing full well I wanted the flight originally and still sleep at night. Furthermore, the Wagu Eye of Ribeye is shockingly tough. The toughest Wagu anything I've ever had. Also, 10$ for two of the smallest scallops I've ever seen... and I actually feel ripped off. We used to come here all the time after shows or before. Never again. I almost said something there, but I think our server could see my frustration and actually ran away from the table after tossing the bill at me last out of our group. If OpenTable didn't email me and ask, I wouldn't have bothered. What used to be my favorite place for awesome whiskey is now crap. Flights of Makers Mark? Snore.
The food was delicious and came quickly. It was a little pricey for the portion size, and we were there on a busy night before a Bucks game so it was quite loud and full
Incredible food!!
Came for the happy hour yet to find out the happy hour did not apply to the restaurant tables and only the bar, that was not stated on the website menu. Was VERY disappointed the staff did not recognize our frustration on it and did nothing about it but dismiss. Stayed in the dining room because we had reservations and bar was full at the time. Wish the happy hour applied to restaurant it would have made the experience ten times better.

I dined at the Rumpus Room tonight 2-19-2020 before The Lion King at The Marcus Center. I had reservations for 2 at 6 o'clock and we were seated when we arrived at 5:50, the place was packed and guests were waiting for tables. Excellent service as our drink order was taken right away, we ordered entrees when our drinks were served. My girlfriend had one of the specials, Lobster Risotto and I had Pork Schnitzel both were excellent. Dinner was served in about 20 minutes and we were out the door by 7. I recommend and will dine again at Rumpus Room based on our experience tonight.
Took over an hour to be served soup and salad. Soup was not warm. Food overall wasn't bad but for the price the value was questionable.
Overpriced for such a small portion. We ordered the pork shoulder. Portion was about 4 ounces including one ounce of fat.
Never again
Very accommodating for my gluten free allergy and had fabulous service and good specials. Highly recommend.
The waiter forgot to put one of our meals in to order! And they didn’t feel appropriately apologetic - just a “whoops” and we had to wait for that meal! It almost made us late for the theater. Even after the waiter had assured us we’d be on time. Food was tasty but that left a bad taste in my mouth. They didn’t even offer to take it off the bill. I would have liked a little more attention to this.
Valentines Day with my wife and yes it’s good to date your wife lol this is our second time here and it was excellent! Wife got the filet I got the NY strip steaks were the best we’ve had at a restaurant in a long time. The waitress was fantastic always checking in making sure we were attended to even when she had a full room. I would highly recommend and yes we will be coming back!
I haven't been there for awhile and happy I tried it again. They have chenged the menu, food was very good and we had a nice waiter.
Price wise, a bit on the expensive side. The food was great, the drinks so-so (one came to our table wrong, but was compensated which was nice). If it is crowded expect it to be noisy. A little slow on service at first but it was very busy when we arrived so that is understandable and we did get our food in a reasonable timeframe.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!
The food and drinks were very expensive. Scallops were great but drowning in butter. Grouper special was very small and dry. My daughter had the bacon flight which she loved and the Korean Ribs which were good. Would not go back as for the three of us our bill was over $200.00
Our waitress was great! She was very courteous and pleasant!
Nice place, ambiance with convenient parking. Unfortunately, the pork schnitzel and fried chicken sandwich Nashville style was disappointing. Both were either overdone or just dry, old meat. The bun bottom for the sandwich could not hold up to the Nashville slaw or sauce. The wet stuff should have been on top of the chicken. Definitely not what we would have expected from a Bartolotta restaurant. The Rumaki was good.
Just not a good execution on dinner. We were asked how everything was and as I was replying with a so-so it's OK, the server was already about 5 feet away and moving on to next task. It was busy, had a show to go to, but I would have liked to have given feedback on the spot.
Great beer list. Excellent (not outstanding) pub food, priced slightly high
We were seated immediately at the type of table requested. Our server came shortly after and took our drink orders. She returned to take our dinner order and the food arrived promptly. I had the blackened shrimp pasta. The pasta was cheesy and the shrimp had just the right amount of heat. I also had the Brussels sprouts which were delicious. Great night of dining.
We made a comment that we asked for the booth, and the Hostess said it was for 5 more guests. Then she seated a group of 4 people right after we sat down. When telling this to the Waiter, he just said "Do you want to order drinks now?" He did not care
