The food was very good. Our server was new and just learning, so we cut her a lot of slack. The only negative is that the wine list is WAY over priced. It is very hard to find a reasonable wine to accompany your meal. This is an expensive restaurant that doesn’t really justify the price.
Enjoyed a fantastic meal this evening. 3 market fresh halibut entrees and one fillet. Topped off with incredible desserts.
Service was outstanding and the meal presentation was beautiful.
The Hostess went above and beyond to make sure our meal was satisfactory. We had a senior with us that had dead batteries in her hearing device. She went and found replacement batteries in their office!
The port reduction with the fillet was incredible as were the mashed potatoes and asparagus.
The halibut was fresh and prepared with a crust and rice with cilantro. Excellent.
This restaurant deserves your attention!
Great wine and beer selection. the Filet, Steak Skewers and prime rib sandwich were all prepare to our liking. Excellent wait staff. Nice desert and coffee menu. Recommend for that special dinner with friends and family.
The patio was pleasant. The fish of the day was halibut. Cooked perfectly! And the Pad Thai with egg was great.
Arrived at 8:00 pm on a Friday night. We ordered 2 appetizers to start and a bottle of wine. Out of one appetizer and the wine. Proceeded to tell us they were also sold out of burgers. We reordered another wine and they delivered the wrong bottle. We were one of only a few tables occupied and yet we were there until after 10:00 pm. Very slow- overpriced
Every time we go to Rumour we love it. This was the first time we went when there was live music. That added much to the evening.
The food was really good but they appeared to be seriously understaffed and we had to wait a LONG time for everything. We felt bad for the server as it wasn’t her fault but not sure we’d come back because it took 2.5 hours for dinner.
You need to put “Pre-Griz Game” eating
And “post-Griz game eating” as choices
We always come there before or after a game!
Server was good, I really enjoyed my meal (smoked salmon fettuccine) but my wife's (prime rib) could have been seasoned better and potatoes were kind of blah, as was horseradish for prime. Deserts were very good and well presented. Mentioned anniversary during online reservation, but went unreferenced at restaurant, making it meaningless to ask. Traffic noise was not pleasant, as we were asked if we wanted to sit inside or out, chose inside and wound up being sat next to open door (even with ample available seating away from doors). Still pretty decent experience overall.
Excellent short ribs. Love the Rumour burger - my favorite go-to!
I like Rumour, but I wish I loved it. It is a great option in Missoula, but sometimes they are understaffed, and I think this is what is keeping me from loving it. The food service and wine service are great, and the quality of the food has really improved. Colleen and John (the owners) are almost always there, and that is a good thing. There is live music from time to time, and they are wine nuts, so the selection is awesome.
They keep getting better. We chose Rumour partly because of the full bar and partly because the design would be a treat for my brother, the designer. The food was great, from the burger to the market fish. The range of the menu is another reason we were there. They're become top of mind for us. They really should for lots of others.
Very special find with unique, well thought out, creative menu. The ambiance varies depending on where you choose to be seated. The service was superb.
Excellent food and service. On my favorite list.
We were visiting Missoula, and this was the best meal we had all week. I had chicken tiki and my wife had fish. Both were excellent. The restaurant has an extensive wine list and the prices were correct. We sat outside and it was quite pleasant. If we come back to Missoula, we will certainly come again.
Came in late, but everyone was welcoming and so friendly. Sean our bartender and waiter was awesome. Food was delicious, creative and well priced.
Cocktails had no taste, not even sure if there was liquor in them. Menu forgettable. Space is beautiful, only wish the food was up to the decor.
Great food, great service, and excellent food and drinks. This was my first time at Rumour, and I was really impressed! Thanks. I will be back for sure!
Had a Father's Day buffet for dinner. It was OK but a little high on the price and selection of food was limitied.
The meal was exquisite . The atmosphere open and friendly
Brunch was fabulous with various delicious offerings. Sitting on the patio on a beautiful Mother’s Day with a special drink and live light jazz music in the background was perfect.
I have celiac disease. The waitress was very aware of dietary restrictions and accommodated me easily. The service was excellent as was the food. And the wine list was fantastic. I would strongly recommend visiting this restaurant while you are in Missoula! If we return to the city, we will be back.
We loved the spicy fries! They’re amazing! We had the market fish and were disappointed. It did not have much flavor - the whole dish was too subtle and was quite expensive! The main dining area is very loud! The next time we come we will try to sit in another area!
The service workers were very friendly and capable!!!
We had a great meal with family and friends. Great server and great food. Thanks...
Dinner service begins at 4:00 PM according to their website. We arrived at 4:00 and all the doors were locked with people waiting outside to get in. We finally called their number and the owner stated yes they were open. We told him the doors are all locked and people waiting outside, so he came down to let us in and told us he would try to find staff to assist us... (apparently staff either doesn't know when they open or no one has been directed to unlock the doors for customers). My husband also had to report to the owner that the men's room had no soap in the soap dispensers.
Appetizer was burnt. Sent it back for new one. Food was just okay, nothing special, but pricey considering the entrees did not come with any sides, so you had to pay extra for salads, etc. (My fish tacos were small and the two small tacos were served on a small plate with nothing else on it. The pasta dishes were served in pasta bowls, just a heap of pasta, nothing else with. They also do not serve any bread before the meal). This place has fine dining prices but seems to specialize more in bar food.
The waitress was friendly and accommodating when we asked for something. Desserts were good.
We've been here several times and LOVE it. Finally a place that we can go and actually have a conversation without all of the loud noise. The ambiance is perfect for a date, couples night and special occasions. Seating is comfortable and the owners are always there visiting with the guests. Food is a little spendy but worth it for local ingredients and it's delicious.
Friend in town from out of state.
Memorable--in the sense that I will never set foot in this place again. The "salad" consisted of wilted lettuce obviously days old, with a vial of tasteless dressing on the side. Having never in my life sent a dish back to the kitchen, I sent this back. Ordered coq au vin for an entree. What came out tasted like it had been prepared by a hamburger flipper. Grossly overcooked chicken, done to sawdust. The whole dish totally without taste and bearing no resemblance of any kind to actual coq au vin. No bacon. BTW, no bread or rolls were served with the meal--and the table faced a bank of televisions. The place has the ambience of a casino but postures itself as a fine-dining establishment. If crap if your idea of fine dining, then hurry to Rumour.
Eating here was an amazing experience, amazingly comfortable seating and amazing food and wine! The waiter was a ton of fun!
Greg, our waiter , was great! We went early , so very quiet, which we love. Great atmosphere and food was fantastic. They are not including tip in the cost of the food anymore, so don’t forget to tip!!!
I have hosted 3 business events at Rumour and the food and service have been more than exceptional each time. Highly recommended!
The service, food, and drinks were exceptionally good and good value. We truly enjoyed our experience!
This is our third visit to Rumour and it is fantastic! First we went for an Anniversary dinner; then Brunch with 3 generations; and our last visit was a gift for our friends. And every single time we found the experience to be perfect! On our last visit we were fortunate to have been serenaded by an excellent musical couple that created a delightful mood that allowed for conversation. On top of the superb food and professional service we were truly pleased with their efforts to be green and local. It is now our Restaurant of choice in Missoula!
I have been here several times now. The food is always top notch and the service has improved immensely. It is a very nice place for couples or a work group gathering. The wine selection is awesome and priced well. This time I ordered the halibut. Aside from a great meal with crisped rice and perfect veggie, the halibut was cooked perfectly all the way through. By far the best halibut I have had in Missoula.
We went for Valentine's Day Dinner. Our dinner ticket got lost our meal was significantly delayed and by the time it was discovered the Special that my wife had ordered was no longer available. Our Server agreed to comp our dessert which was nice but then we got the wrong dessert. It was a busy night and we had late reservations but overall the experience was somewhat comical.
Was disappointed with there not being wine flights and the fries that came with my burger were bits and pieces of fries that weren’t really edible so I didn’t get many edible fries. I ordered a double cosmopolitan martini and it barely tasted even like a single but I love the owners so we will be back!
Pad Thai was amazing last night but next week it might be entirely different. I hope not!!
I came here last summer with a few gal pals and was not impressed. The waitresses "forgot about us" for at least 20 minutes until I politely addressed them. The food was thumbs down. When it came time to have my employee appreciate night, they all wanted to go to Rumour. I decided to give it a second chance. I don't know if they got new owners, a new chef or both, but we all had an awesome time! The drinks are amazing, our waiter, Dave, was wonderful, the Owner came by the table to see how we were doing, and the food was SO MUCH BETTER. WE spent 4 hours there eating good food and drinking great cocktails. Superb all around! I plan on taking my husband there to celebrate my birthday next month!
Good food, boring presentation, and overpriced for what you get. Waiter provided good suggestions for wine. Everything tasted good and staff was nice but it didn't leave me wanted to go there regularly. Instead of the waiter saying "you're welcome" we received the "no problem" response which is true to the younger generation but unprofessional. At one point, a lady approached the table and asked how everything was. No idea who she was because she didn't introduce herself. Odd. Nice, rustic atmosphere in the room with the garage doors. I would go back for a special occasion.
John & Colleen are excellent hosts. We have gone there for weekend brunch almost every weekend and their Eggs Bennie are the best I've seen. Rumour is one of the best places for weekend brunch in Missoula...good food, good ambience, good service...not to mention great breakfast "drinks". SEA
