This was our 2nd time dining at Rumi's Kitchen at The Avalon location. The waiter is not as friendly as the waitress we had for the first time.
He is doing everything he supposed to, but he was lacked of enthusiasm and didnt smile. He seems very serious when taking our orders and doesn't bother to carry a short conversation with us. But I saw he was more attentive to other customers. He probably checks on others twice before he would come to our table to check on us. Sometimes he passed by our table, don't even bother to greet. I don't know why, but the only reason I can think of is because we are Asians? Did I mentioned the waiter was also Asian?
When I booked via Open Table, I specifically stated the occasion was for a birthday celebration, we didn't get any treats, not even a happy birthday.
When spending this kind of money for a birthday dinner, I didnt expect to receive a service like I had last night. I would not go back for special occasions.
my kids lovve this place. I really wish they had some imported beers or at least an expanded beer list and not craft beer.
Outstanding food, service and we will be making it a regular stop in our food places!!
Delectable food as always, and we really enjoyed the outdoor area since we aren’t dining inside during the pandemic. The service was excellent, we got a table in the corner, and felt very safe despite how crowded the restaurant was on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
Food was great!
What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We love sitting at the bar and meeting new friends . The food and cocktails were great! The Love and Poetry cocktail is divine.
Rumis is always so delicious and we love coming for years!! The Avalon decor is beautiful.
I had been to Rumi's a few times. Experiences were predominantly positive, but then I had one bad experience that left me frustrated. I let the manager, Artie, know, and when I visited again, he absolutely went above and beyond to make sure our experience was great.
The food is absolutely divine. I've never been disappointed. I've been to several countries in the Middle East and have a pretty deep love for food (among other things) from the region. Rumi's Kitchen NAILS it. It's delicious, high quality, authentic food. The salmon and sea bass are incredible, the chicken barg is lovely, the falafel is a favorite, can't go wrong with any of the eggplant appetizers, the tenderloin is fantastic, the flourless torte, sorbet, and baklava are a perfect finish, all of it is wonderful. Start with a cocktail, don't skip apps or dessert, and you will leave beyond satisfied.
Brett the server was attentive, knowledgeable, and added little touches to make our experience great. He heard one girl in our group was a vegan and remembered when it came time for dessert. Very thoughtful!
Thank you Artie and Brett for turning a less than stellar experience around. Any restaurant can have an off night. It is how those nights (and guests) are handled that makes the difference.
I'm looking forward to my next visit and will continue to profess my love for this place to everyone who will listen.
Was rushed by the server. After she tried putting new cutlery down for the main (when we were half way through the starter), knocked my fork on the floor and actually touched my food that I had in my hand - she was that close. Persian sunset cocktail and creme brûlée was delicious. Lamb shank and Kashmir badenjoon mediocre. Acoustics made it difficult to follow a conversation. Shame, I adore Persian food.
Delicious food. Excellent service. Always a great experience.
Our servers were phenomenal and the food was truly delicious.
We stopped in for appetizers, and they were all delightful! We had the falafel, mast khiyer, and mirza ghasemi. Delicious!!
All was delicious and service outstanding....as always!
This is the one restaurant where COVID has been a good thing. The tables are no longer packed so tight which makes it a better experience
LOVE love loved the food. It was too crowded and too loud. I was made to feel "wierd" if I did not a mask on...but you all clearly don't care about social distancing. I could have touched people sitting at the tables on each side of us.
Great food, as always!
Had a few friends in from Miami and they loved every minute of their visit. Service was awesome.
Valentine’s Day double date! Delicious food, great service, pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend!
speechless ... it was just wonderful ! very loud though , but that’s ok . also, if i may suggest , it would be nice to have a special vip room behind the curtains or something like that , but again , overall just an amazing place !
My new favorite place. Love everything about it. Always impressed.
Rumi’s should be a national treasure! The experience was so good, in such a difficult environment, they make you forget about all the issues in the world.
Thank you!
We had a reservation for 6pm and we were promptly seated at 6pm. We knew exactly what we wanted so placed an order right away. Restaurant seemed to have a lot of to-go orders and our order was clearly not prioritized over to-go order. We didn’t get our food until 7:07pm.
The restaurant was also not following social distancing guidelines. They were absolutely packed and we were sitting close enough to the people to our left and right where we could clearly hear their conversation. Probably less than 3 feet away.
Not a good experience.
Rumi’s was busy for Valentines Day which is wonderful to see during a pandemic. The lamb kabobs had great flavor! Our server was very sweet and attentive. Definitely recommend!
Valentines family dinner. It was incredibly crowded. We had to move our table closer to the wall so the wait staff would stop cutting through.
Service is always 100%. Apps are always 100% and worth the $$. Entrees?? Chicken Barg consist of 14 gallons of rice and a very small piece of overcooked chicken. I’ve ordered this dish multiple times and the protein keeps getting smaller. I get annoyed spending $$$ and leaving hungry
Incredible! From start to finish. The mushroom hummus that our server recommended was delicious, and the entrees were great too.
Valentines Day
If you are looking for a place that is bubbling with excitement with impeccable food and great service, this is your spot. Everything was fresh, flavorful and visually appealing.
Excellent service, even on a busy holiday Saturday night, wonderful food, everything at the right temps, beautiful presentation.
Super loud as always but such a great place! Very professional but a bit cramped as well if you are concerned about that. Enjoy!
Excellent food and service. We dined outside and they had ample heat lamps !
I loved it...Superb! The food and service are excellent.
Rumis is the best restaurant north of Atlanta. The food is always delicious and fresh. It is our go to for entertaining friends and family. The staff is amazing, and the energy of the place is energetic and fun!
It was a great experience. Will be coming back soon.
Our server was excellent. The food is always amazing!
We love Rumi’s. The food is amazing and the service is great.
We haven’t eaten inside at Rumis during the pandemic...this was the first time eating inside the restaurant, and, unfortunately, it is very crowded inside and does not feel like proper social distancing guidelines are being followed. We were seated uncomfortably close to fellow diners. We observed other guests complaining to the hosts about the seating.
Maybe takeout is the way to go...
Food was great as always. But if you’d like to social distance, do not go! We made a reservation for 4:30 to beat any crowds, however a lot of other people had the same idea. They sat people at every single table. We had someone at the next table less than 2 feet away. We were the first table to sit down and they put the next group right next to us. Within 30 minutes we were surrounded by other guests and very uncomfortable. At that point we ate quickly so we could get out. Rumi’s used to be my fav at Avalon. I was very excited. But sadly no more. We will not be back. They did not care one bit about our safety. They only wanted a packed restaurant. They have lost a raving fan.
The food was just ok
Good food, Mediocre service. Server screwed up our appetizer. Had to tell two other servers before we could get it fixed. No acknowledgment from the server or manager. Staff has no regard for social distancing or Covid protocol. Lots of masks worn below the nose, and lots of face and hair touching. Greeter was the highlight of the service experience.
Excellent food, great service. Food is pricey but definitely worthy of a higher price tag than most competitors.
