Rumfish y Vino - Ventura, CA
We love this place. Great atmosphere, food and cocktails!
Tim, the asst. mgr was also our server and he was great to talk to. The food came out very hot and both of our dishes exceeded our expectation. The outside ambiance was great. We will definitely come back here again when we are in the neighborhood. Thanks Tim for the recommendation of the food.
Rumfish is a great find! Creative menu, delicious food, served promptly by gracious staff. We will return next time we are in Ventura.
We had a table of 10, 5 Birthdays and had a great eating experience. Our waiter Brian was really attentive and just a great guy.
Fabulous old California ambience with fresh, creative cuisine and friendly staff.
Love this spot. Probably the nicest vibe in Ventura. Good food, good drinks, great atmosphere (particularly the outdoor seating w a fireplace and lemon trees). Solid service. Accommodated a group of 13 no problem. Wish there were more veggie options, but there were enough.
I love sitting outside at Rumfish! Between the fireplace and the heaters and the blankets I'm always warm enough.
Good food. Nice location with indoor and outdoor seating.
It was fabulous!
My wife and son and I were in Venture over Memorial weekend for my son's running of the Mountain to Beach Marathon. I picked Rumfish based on all the positive reviews on several social sites. We were not disappointed. We were seated immediately for our 6:30 reservation at an attractive patio table with overhead heater. The arbor above the table housed a lemon tree stuffed with large ripe lemons. We started dinner with the Conch fritters and drinks, mine a Mezcal cocktail that was delicious. The fritters were tasty and fresh.
For entree we had a vegetarian bowl, fish tacos and a seafood stew. All three were delicious, freshly prepared with bright flavors and textures. Service was prompt and courteous.
We will definitely return when back in venture and I recommend Rumfish to everyone.
We had dinner on a Saturday night. The place was busy but the noise level allowed for a nice conversation. Our Server was excellent - attentive and with a point of view on the drinks and menu items, which I really appreciated.
The food and drinks were just OK. The BBQ Pork Chop was overpowered by the pickled onions. The caribbean fish stew was overpowered by the habanero - so that is all you could really taste.
The conch ceviche was pretty basic...I think I had higher hopes on flavor intricacies.
The drinks were similarly overpowered by one key ingredient. So the spicy margarita was just the chilli powder taste. The Lavender cocktail we ordered tasted strongly of lavender - not allowing for any other flavor to come out.
If you are more inclined towards a lighter and more sophisticated touch in flavoring, this is not the place for you. If you like to really taste one dominant flavor, you'll love it.
We had a pleasant time and was not offended by the food or drink, but we won't return.
The food, service, choices, drinks, EVERYTHING was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute at Rumfish. Good to know they provide free valet in this out of the way site, although we had a lovely walk from Main Street.
Graduation dinner. Staff couldn’t have made it easier. Delicious food and great ambiance. Beautiful evening despite the rain. Enjoyed sitting in courtyard. Innovative and delicious craft cocktails.
Exceptional! Went for a graduation dinner. Food was very good and the service equally good. The restaurant even called me to let me know all was prepared for our dinner. Great spot.
Lovely outdoor patio dining
( inside also available) great food choices, good service & value.
Give it a try👍
We go here primarily for the ambience and setting. The design is amazing and you feel great eating here. The food is very good and we always have our favorites (pork belly, gourmet hamburger, the mussels) we can depend upon. Great for special occasions as well as dates and family and friend hangout get togethers.
Gem of a seafood restaurant with limited (compared to bigger places) but interesting selections well executed. We tried conch cerviche, halibut cerviche, a seafood stew and a chorizo hash ... all different from the usual fare, but good and served attentively.
We love Rumfish. The Mexican flare is delish.
The outdoor patio is the best in town and service was great last time we went, even though it was busy.
Pleasant setting, interesting cocktails, good food. What else do you need?
The ambience is so beachy, outdoorsy and relaxed, I love it. The food is great, with a short menu list, but the drink list is lengthy.
The patio is a wonderful space to eat and enjoy food and friends. Service was great, food really tasty. SO glad a good restaurant like this has been added to Ventura.
The food and service was outstanding, it was our 33 anniversary the best dinner in all our years together.
We enjoy this restaurant when in Ventura, but this last visit was telling regarding the noise level—the dining room was empty, the area we always avoid because of sound concerns, and the patio was a scant crowd as well on a holiday Sunday evening, Cinco de Mayo. The dining room is usually full and the sound level with conversations bouncing off the ceiling and walls is unpleasant. We go to the patio for relief. This night the “music” was too loud on the patio and way too loud inside. Is the current operating theory in restaurants that the less people the louder the music to make it seem livelier? A vicious cycle is then created with sound levels driving patrons away. This seems tragic since the restaurant’s setting is so lovely, the food so good and staff so eager to please.
Great food and drinks, great atmosphere, and great value!
Highly recommend it!
All was great in terms of food-service, these folks do a consistently great job....but we were hoping for an outdoor table (ambiance is great and outdoor capacity is same or larger than indoor), but there was a private event booked. Wish we would have been informed between time we made the reservation (2 weeks before) and our date. That said, indoors was very busy/energetic as a result, which is normally ok for me, but a bit too noisy for our group.
That said, we did not add a note to our reservation requesting outdoors, lesson learned, my bad.
Family birthday celebration X’s 5 and all were given ice cream dishes!👍🏼 food and service were tasty and friendly, respectively. ♥️
For whatever reason Ventura is lacking modern, single operator restaurants. Plenty of multiple unit fast casual options, but very few restaurants that pay attention to simple, well prepared food with seasonal ingredients. Rumfish is one of the few restaurants in the area that make an attempt to be a community oriented establishment, keeping the menu simple, lots of fresh and local ingredients, some innovation, keeping it close to the beachy, Central American cuisine with fun cocktails inspired by the cuisine concept. Menu is short but smart..plenty of options to snack and drink or have a nice bottle of wine and interesting main course. While the food is fairly well executed, you don't get the experience you would in a top 100 restaurant in LA, but in Ventura who wants to drive to LA for dinner? For the money, the fun atmosphere (sit outside) and good food and drink, if you're in Ventura and want good meal, take an Uber and enjoy!
Love the outdoor patio
Our lunch was much better than one we had at the restaurant during its first year.
Service was excellent, especially since we had a party of 9.
Might try dinner again.
Fabulous atmosphere, Superb service, great and unique dishes to select from - and vegetarian friendly. Love the patio
One of our go to spots. The craft cocktails are amazing as is the food. I have a hard time choosing an dish, because they all are so wonderful! I have never gone wrong with just going with the chefs special of the day either. I think we have tried everything on the menu at this point and keep coming back.
Appetizers were very good. The hanger steak dish has been changed and is ruined. What used to be an exquisite masterpiece now is a couple of piece of what seemed to be poorly done tri tip with potatoes. Fish dishes were great as usual. Menu could use some new items-has been the same now for a few years.
Go back to being creative again. I love the venue but menu and presentations are getting worn around the edges.
My personal favorite in Ventura. Exceptionally good food, festive cocktails, great wine list, outdoor fireplace, tastefully decorated with blue and whit decor and great napkins .... cushions and blankets if you get chilly! Very friendly staff ... doesn't get much better!
Love this restaurant. It’s my favorite restaurant to go to in Ventura with my husband, friends and guests visiting from out of town. You just can’t go wrong at Rumfish Y Vino.
The tacos I ordered though tasty, much smaller than anticipated, like street tacos, and nothing else on the plate. My husband's Weygo burger was huge, however. Taste for both was above average. Sat outdoors. Restrooms are out of the restaurant.
We have been here several times and have enjoyed ourselves each time. This has become one of our favorites for weekend lunch.
Great on every level, food, atmosphere, service. Peruvian ceviche and pork belly posole were excellent. Had a wonderful dinner. You won’t regret dining here.
Our server was awesome! Love the vibe on the patio.
Had the tuna melt- bread not grilled-just warmed and a little too buttery and soggy. Wine selection just ok. Patio is lovely however which helped make up for the meal.
Good find, no wait and lots of space. Much better than the two other places we tried that were on the main strip.
