Was good not great. Service was mediocre.
Love this place. Its one of our favorites in Jax. Food is always excellent, plus Manhattans to die for! Rue Saint-Marc actually changes their menu frequently - so even if you go often you are treated to a change!
I love Rue Saint Marc. Service is always friendly and the food is always prepared to perfection. Great cocktails, too
From the fantastic cocktails and inspired apps to the perfectly cooked fish, Rue Saint-Marc once again shines bright. The wine menu is diverse, well conceived and priced such that anyone can enjoy a nice bottle without sticker shock. The staff are all pleasant and efficient, with a constant eye on customer service yet without hovering. One of our favorite restaurants in JAX.
Very good dinner. Excellent service. Dessert were just ok.
Great place for cocktails and a light bite to eat with a date.
Mary Kate was very professional even when the people at the next table were OBNOXIOUS to her
I reviewed the menu which had no vegetarian entrees before going and when we ordered we said we wanted the Happy Hour specials and we wanted 2 checks one for each couple. My brother ordered scotch the waitress brought him vodka. When she brought the one check for all 4 we sent her back. When we checked the bill we didn't get the $2 off of the wines which was the happy hour deal.
Amazing meal!!!! Go for the duck and stay for the cocktails!
Everything about this restaurant is warm, inviting and professionally managed. Intelligently modified, yet classically approached French gourmet is paired beautifully with a bar staffed by energetic, whimsical and creative mixologists...making this a great place to eat, drink and unwind while being pampered properly. We’ll be back again and again, thank you for being Rue, Rue! :)
The food here was pretty good and rather pricey. The ambiance is interesting (ultra-modern) but very noisy. The waitress was surly and the service was clearly sub-standard.
One of our favorites! Food is superb and the staff is great....highly recommend it!
We went to rue Saint Marc on a whim before an event. The menu exceeded my expectations and the food was delicious. The duck confit croquettes were incredible and the creme brûlée was one of the best I’ve ever had! Great wine list, friendly attentive staff, I will definitely go back! Great spot for a pre-event dinner, girls night, date night, special occasion, or business happy hour! I liked it much better than taverna and town hall (both of which I really like). A must try! Menu changes seasonally so there’s always something new and fresh to try.
Wonderful scratch cocktails served by efficient, smiling and pleasant wait staff.
I love the ambiance of this cozy restaurant. The appetizers are creative, quality ingredients, and delicious.
Can’t wait to return!
Food was great and the wine was selection was great, but the red wine was room temperature. It should have been about 10-15 degrees cooler for the quality of wines they were serving.
This place is consistently excellent. Imaginative and good cocktail menu, great wine list, and delectable food. The wait staff is knowledgeable and sensitive to your preferences. Had locally sourced shrimp and regional snapper delicately prepared with a superb cucumber and whipped feta salad. We visit often and we love Rue!
My husband and I visited Rue Saint Marc on a Saturday evening with reservations for 7:30 and were promptly seated. The restaurant was busy and a little on the loud side but we did Not mind. It had a nice vibe and the wait staff were great (especially Jake, our waiter). The food was very good. We ordered the Scallops as an appetizer and both of us had a Market Fresh Grouper special offered that evening. Although the food was very good, we especially enjoyed the extensive and very creative cocktail menu! We will definitely return!!
I tell people to go here all the time, love everything about Rue Saint-Marc!
We love this place! The food is incredible every time! Tried to add a picture but it never showed up! The owners are always there and always on top of the BEST of everything! Including the freshest from local gardens for your salads AND great wines, not to mention very tasty cocktails, not your average place here! It’s outstanding!
Food is always amazing, as well as the service
I was excited to RSM but I can't say I loved the experience. There is literally nothing french about this place. The ambiance is that of any other "industrial farmhouse" styled place: open, noisy, and "hipster-esc". The food was probably one of the most disappointing experiences I've had in awhile. We ordered the eggplant beignets as a starter and they were meh. Beignets are supposed to be delicate and light, these were dense, over-fried, and quite boring. The saving grace was the goat cheese and honey drizzle, both delicious. For salad we chose the artichoke barigoule, it was soooo bland. I have never in my life tasted an olive with absolutely zero flavor until I met this salad. Finally, for entrees we ordered the roasted chicken with fine herbs and the Mayport shrimp. Things significantly went down from here. First, we had to wait over 30 minutes to get our entrees. The excuse was "the chicken takes longer to roast," info that would have been great earlier on, as we had a time deadline. Regardless, we enjoyed our cocktails (truly the highlight of the experience) and imagined them roasting a lovely quarter chicken to perfection. When the food (FINALLY) came, what a huge disappointment. The chicken was cut into square strips of chicken breast with some sort of gravy - my husband compared it to eating a Swanson oven-ready meal from the 70s. The Mayport shrimp was anything but fresh - it had the taste and texture of previously frozen shrimp and offered zero flavor. On the plus side, the waiter was attentive and the drinks were good. The experience was overall pretty disappointing, especially since the reviews are decent for this place. If you're looking for delicious french food with European ambiance, I suggest looking elsewhere. If you're looking for a place to grab a tasty cocktail, this might be your place.
Wonderful dining experience from the excellent food to the staff that not only made us feel welcome, but made us feel like a part of the family!
The food was very good, we had multiple small plates that allowed us to sample several items. The dessert, Parisian flan, was underwhelming. It did not have the texture or flavor of flan, it was more like creme brûlée without the carmelized sugar.
Our server was lovely, friendly and knowledgeable. The one major detraction from the evening was the hostess. Initially we were sat at a small table next to the bathroom. We had an early reservation and there were multiple open tables. We requested to move to another 2-top table farther from the bathroom door. The hostess argued, stating she had another 2-party reservation arriving in 15 minutes. I suggested she seat that party at the table by the bathroom. She was quite rude about the entire situation, and we overheard her negative and condescending comments about us to our server. Also, we noted that no 2-party tables were seated for at least an hour. We were offended to the point that we discussed leaving the restaurant, but decided to stay. I’m glad we stayed as the dinner was very good.
Very good meal, done well, with good service. Would return.
Love Rue. My favorite place in Jax.
Everything is great- casual or more dressy, this is the spot.
The staff is excellent.
The food is creative and fantastic.
Good price point.
Another win for the Medure brothers!
If you want some of the best food in Jacksonville, and as an added bonus, has a french flair, then Rue Saint-Marc is the place to come. The entrees are mostly in the $35 range, salads around $10 and ALL the drinks are really well done. The presentation of drinks and food is really something special and the service is so attentive without being too intrusive. Yeah, I know I'm gushing about this place but it is really THAT GOOD. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The flavor, the flair, the presentation is all really 5 stars.
The food is always consistently high-quality here. I am vegan and the chef always makes a vegan plate out of the vegetables and sides available on that particular day. It is always absolutely delicious and I greatly appreciate the effort to accommodate those of us who do not eat animals or animal products.
We really enjoy this restaurant. Everything that we have tried has been excellent. Excellent service as well.
Outstanding craft cocktails, good wine choices, unique appetizers, attentive service. Seafood presentations were very flavorful without overpowering the very fresh fish. Unique desserts, comfortable seating, seated immediately with our reservation. Highly recommended.
the menu is always fresh and current with the season. You can tell lot's of care is poured into the prep of each item. The service is quick, knowledeable but not hovering. Good energy and vibe-- I love it on a rainy night--such comfort with friends and good food. the bar is amazing--one of the best in Jax! Beautiful cocktails with huge selection of unusual liquors.
The flank/skirt steak was excellent. Noise level sometimes makes it tough to hear conversations.
When we first arrived, service was great and efficient. Once we got our soup/salad, the server basically disappeared for the rest of our meal. She was serving customers on the patio and walked by us about 10 times avoiding our eye contact. We waited 20+ minutes to get our entrees after the soup/salad and had to hurry to eat because we were going to a concert after. The entrees were warm at best...definitely not hot, especially considering how long we waited. My steak was also too rare, but the server never checked on us to see how our meals were. The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance and the menu is unique for the Jax area. Really disappointed in our first (and maybe only) visit after a friend highly recommended it.
Went in for my birthday dinner and this place was incredible! Meredith was our server and she was super knowledgeable about cocktails and cuisine and was always ready with a great recommendation based on our preferences! Everything was delicious and very fresh. They even handmade gluten free pitas for my wife who has an allergy. The attention to detail and exquisite service set Rue apart from many other restaurants we have visited. Great job!
Delicious. Definitely get the eggplant beignets and the hanna cotta was divine!
Sharing the small plates allows one to try more of the incredible dishes and can certainly satisfy the hungriest of all. Of course the full plates are fabulous also....especially if you happen to be with folks who don't like to share. I have never been disappointed!
Our first visit. We were there early before a concert. My daughter had the lamb and said it was one of the best she’s ordered. My husband had the flounder and it was also very good. I did the cheese plate with a salad also wonderful. Great wine selection. Great salads. The Happy Hour small plates looked great as they went by. We will go again.
Impeccable food, presentation, and service
Consistently good and varied menu with stylish French flair using locally sourced ingredients. Wait staff is top notch and ACTUALLY KNOWS THE WINE LIST! This is often rare. Great cocktails and a sort of bright but intimate Parisienne ambiance. Our Go-To restaurant. Thanks, Rue!
We were at Rue during their Happy Hour (4 to 6) and tried several of the Happy Hour plates that were offered. They were outstanding and we enjoyed all of them. The Roasted Red Pepper spread, the fish sandwich and the Eggplant Bignet were my favorites. The Eggplant Bignet was absolutely delicious and I am still pondering when I can go back and have it again. You must give it a try. It is sweet and therefore a really good ending to the other items. Enjoy!
Really awesome! Very pleased with my choice of dining there last night. They accommodated us even though my group of 3 swelled to 5 then to 7 at the last minute! Our waiter was totally on top of my allergy issues and my beetroot appetizer and flounder entree were perfect. Everyone cleared out their plates to the last little morsel, then had dessert and coffee. Wines were excellent. Great time and we will be back!
