The food is always consistently and reliably great here, and I eat eat here regularly. The ambiance inside is really nice, like a Parisian bistro. Outside can be a bit loud, but you can’t expect otherwise on the corner of a busy Midtown intersection, but that’s also part of the ambiance - it’s very Manhattan, and wonderful for people watching. The service is superb. I just miss the old regular menu. It’s still only about half of the pre-pandemic menu. But I’m just glad they’re open.
Excellent food and service. But the restaurant was too warm on a very hot day and staff tries to clear dishes before one is finished. This is a problem in many restaurants. But overall this is a wonderful restaurant.
The quality of food is always consistantly good. The staff is professional in every way. Great people watching place. Terrific buzz around the place. Perfect location.
It was average and the restaurant was too warm
Very accommodating to our larger group. Was unable to reserve for 8 so made two for four. When we arrived they set us up for 8.
Service was lackluster. I understand that it’s going to be mostly hands off due to the pandemic but waiting 15 minutes for drink orders and then needing to flag down your waiter to place your food order because we were waiting another 15 minutes is really unacceptable. Sushi is no longer on the menu so it’s mostly French bistro fare which was all tasty. The truffle pasta is a winner. Steak was a bit over our requested temperature. If you want a perfectly medium steak ask for medium rare. Medium was more medium well and we didn’t want to bother sending it back because the waiter was so slow.
Close to my office
Enjoyable atmosphere, food and service.
A lovely lunch. The atmosphere was what I consider casual but elegant. Food was excellent.
Our waiter was one of the best!
Food was excellent and the hostess corrected the salad to our liking! She was very helpful as well.
Love this place! Every time I come to New York I come here. Great food!
Mussels tasted good! The alcohol was ok. The staff were very helpful as well. Great place to go, would highly recommend!
Everything was great but they did not have anyone in charge of the service outside, and the service was just incredibly slow.
We sat for 10 minutes before anyone even offered us water. It was a further 10 minutes before someone asked if anyone had taken our order
I had to ask 3 times for the salt and pepper.
Everyone was very nice and friendly, and the food was very tasty, but the organization for the outside tables was simply shambolic.
And It’s not like it was busy because this was 3:30pm and the restaurant was almost half empty.
There were two younger women seating people who seemed to be confused and we’re trying to do each other’s job. Either one of them could have looked outside every five minutes to see whether people were being served.
Amazing food and service..... always a go to place for us when in NYC!
The food and service were outstanding. Best Dover Sole ever!
The food was not great and the menu had changed, the service was ok, but the overall experience was just average.
Had dinner here shortly after they reopened after COVID. Although it was pleasant outside, I asked for a table inside. All of the French doors were open which keep the dining room cool, but not quiet. There is a lot of street noise.
The east /west coast oyster starter was very tasty, plump oysters with both mignonette and cocktail sauces. For a main course I had the steak au pointe with pommels frites w/truffles. The center cut strip loin was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the au poivre sauce was the perfect accompaniment to the thick juicy steak. The special dessert was a chocolate mousse cake served with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Very dense and moist chocolate mousse, delicious.
Very good food and excellent service. Good experience
Nice place for late lunch after the museum.
Limited menu but lots of options for brunch or lunch. Great food and service. Would recommend, one of favorite meals in NYC.
The food was tasteful and I like the variety of it, but I understand that during the pandemic help might be hard to find but why not shift your waiters to areas that were busy. We were sat their first 20 mins to take our orders and our waiter only checked on us when he gave us the bill. We had to ask other waiters for things. Again, I understand during pandemic times staff might be limited but should shift your help if there’s busy areas
We ordered 2 of the specialty cocktails and they were undrinkable - Lychee martinis. I have never sent a cocktail back but I had to for $15. I ordered a whiskey sour, which again was not made correctly - how on earth can you screw up a whiskey sour??? Food was great though. Delicious chicken.
Great outdoor space, delish food and wonderful service!! Will go back again soon.
The hostess was outstanding, nice and very pleasant to make all feel very comfortable
Haven't been there in over 10 years. The place needs a revamp - revamp the decor, the menu, the seating. Great location. Great space but needs a refresh.
We have been to Rue 57 several times over the years but this our first time since the pandemic. I’m sure it’s because of the current state of affairs but we weren’t all that impressed with the limited menu. Service was great and the appetizer we chose and the entrees were excellent, just look forward to the return of a fuller menu.
Mother’s Day brunch. Wonderful experience!
We haven’t been to rue 57 in years and my wife and I had brunch there this past Sunday. I believe the restaurant had only just opened up on Friday due to Covid related closure. The meal did not disappoint. We love this place in I took my wife there for Mother’s Day brunch. It was terrific as usual although quite empty compared to previous years. We love going there for brunch and then walking over to Central Park. Look forward to our next date afternoon at rue 57
Good ventilation, friendly staff and delicious food (had the Chopped Cobb chicken salad) Good to be back after the long nightmare.
Great weekend brunch spot.
House Sirloin Burger was excellent!
So happy this classic French bistros is back. Fabulous lively neighborhood.
Always one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants!! So happy they have re-opened for inside and outside dining--we have missed being there- The food-staff and ambiance is always wonderful!! Our go to place for breakfast-brunch-lunch and dinner!!!
Place not very crowded, but service took too long
The tuna tartar was good - better than the last incarnation- but not as good as the ORIGINAL incarnation! Wasn't crazy about the mignonette sauce for the oysters.
Chilean sea bass was excellent! My friend's salmon looked very good. Love their French fries but didn't order this time as I like to share them. Missed the sushi (limited menu until they get back to a higher capacity. Can't wait. Favorite place to sit is near the open windows but not on the street. We were in the back.
Fue excelente todo
Lovely evening with friends who haven’t been together for more than a year ! Restaurant had tables set far apart and appeared to follow the rules of only 50% occupancy. Our reservation was at 7 but we wanted to visit awhile before we ordered which we did and no one tried to rush us ! The food was excellent ! I had a juicy crispy plate of fried chicken which came southern style with a waffle and choice of sauces and syrups. Both my friends chose a marinated skirt steak which came with a generous serving of fries which were crispy and delicious. All the dishes were well prepared and attractively served. Rue 57 was a fav place before the pandemic and it will remain that with its much anticipated re opening !
Been going to Rue 57 for over 25 years. One of my go-to restaurants near Carnegie Hall.
We had brunch there and we sat inside. The separation between tables was very comfortable, the service was great and the food was good.
So great dining at Rue 57 - a New York institution. My salad, scallops and beignets were all delicious and the service was great. Look forward to going back soon.
Always enjoy Rue 57. We eat there several times due in t our visit and it is always good.
