Took out of town friends
We were glad we made a reservation as a lot of people with no reservation were waiting to be seated when we arrived! We were taken to our table right away and did not wait long before our waitress came by. We took the prix fixe menu - $39 for appetizer, main course and dessert, $49 if you ordered the steak which we did... that is where I was a little bit disappointed as my steak was a bit fatty and not medium as I requested but more on the rare side. Our appetizer on the other hand - tuna tartare - as well as our dessert - crème brûlée - were simply delicious. Still I find Rue 57 a bit pricey for what they offer.
I will go back though and try something else on their menu.
Last Friday night was our first time here but we will be back again! The food was fabulous, with large portions (chicken and salmon), and the service was comfortably spaced out. We had plenty of time to walk to our Broadway show from the restaurant.
Fun, energetic atmosphere. Excellent waitstaff. Delicious food. Tables punishingly close together. I lost half my drink when a diner tried to wedge between our tables to sit down. He then sat uncomfortably close to me for many minutes until he dragged himself away from me on the banquet.
Great service by both the hostess and the wait staff
The menu is diverse, food for every taste. Menu items are fairly consistent, not too much variance season to season.
We've eaten at Rue 57 several times and usually are very happy with food and service. This day was different, unfortunately. My mussels arrived cold. The waitress disappeared when we requested ice for our drinks, sweet n low for tea and even a glass of water. We did not complain to management and probably should have.
Best tuna maki ever. Noise level too loud and I’ve never paid $50 for three maki rolls. Too expensive even for NYC
Delicious and wonderful atmosphere!!! Server very attentive and sociable!!
I had walked by this restaurant numerous times & thought it looked beautiful & it was always packed. So when the opportunity arose for my friend/business associate & I to meet for lunch it happened to be in the perfect location, so i booked a table. Definitely lived up to my expectations! My friend had the 3 course lunch for $29 (!!!) & I had the house martini with 3 blue cheese stuffed olives & the small steak tartare. Wonderful service, beautifully prepared fresh dishes & a first rate martini. Although the place was busy, we were able to have conversation & the service was on point but unobtrusive. Exceeded my expectations & I look forward to returning!
Always a delightful experience. One of our very favorite restaurants in New York!
One of my favorite restaurants in nyc. Always great food!
We dine here whenever we are in the city. Love the food and atmosphere.6
Great table. Great food. We were in and out in time for the opera without feeling rushed. Portions are incredibly generous
They rushed us
Came here while on trip for my Birthday. Wish I could’ve ordered off dinner menu, but the chicken soup is best I’ve ever had, and everything was great! Coming back soon! Thanks much!
Great food selection. Perfect location. Great service.
I love Rue 57! It is a wonderful NYC experience and a great value!
Everything was great. I particularly enjoyed the pix fixed lunch choices. Healthy and delicious.
Always a reliable place to go in the area! The service and food are pretty consistent.
Perfect spot for long lunch; loved the prix fixe meal but also many excellent choices from main menu. Sushi was a nice unexpected option.
Excellent service and food. We booked again after they served us prior to a trip to the theater the previous evening. The staff on both visits were very friendly and helpful - a waiter called Richard was especially good.
First I want to say is our waiter was AWESOME! Unfortunately I didn’t hear his name when he came to the table. But I do know he’s been working there for 18 years and has 2 children that he adores.
Anyway, the food was awesome!! I had the meatloaf and it was delicious! Hit the spot after being outside for hours watching the marathon. My husband had the skirt steak and said it was great. My cousin had the roasted chicken and she said it was very tasty.
Oh I also had one if the BEST dirty martini’s I have ever had! Especially that they had the blue cheese stuffed olives!!
I would definitely go back!! Give it a go!!
Great place we will be back
Perfect date night restaurant. Drinks were outstanding, and the food was incredible. It's not easy to turn meatloaf into a gourmet dish, but they did it. Fantastic!
Hugely overpriced for the listless service and substandard food. The skirt steak I ordered was of average flavor but tough as nails. Fries were curiously cooked. The place is packed with locals and tourists and the noise level is the highest I've ever experienced. Take your money and run!
Here for the marathon. Met people we know who are also here for the marathon.
Always a great spot for lunch / brunch and drinks
The people at this restaurant could not be nicer. Love everything about this place, people, ambiance, food. I’ve come with friends for dinner and most recently for brunch. Love it!
We've been fans of RUE 57 for some 20 years ... before several other french-style 'bistros' arrived in the neighborhood. RUE 57 remains #1 vis food & drink, service and ambiance. We've just moved into the building above, so I expect we'll continue to visit and entertain at RUE 57 on an even more frequent basis than we have in the past.
Brunch was excellent. French toast and pancakes were terrific and service was great. Highly recommend.
Despite having a reservation we had to wait for a table. It was so noisy we co in lent hear each other without shouting and it was so dark everyone was using torches on their phones to read the menu!!
It’s supposed to be in the style of a french brasserie NO it isn’t anything like one at all.
My burger (very french!) was served in a dish. It was impossible to cut up in a dish. The fries had so much garlic sprinkled on them they were inedible. Two course and two glasses of wine ended up being $178 with “discretionary “ tip.
My tip would try somewhere else.....
Noisy and dark. Otherwise good food. Somewhat pricey, but that’s probably the position of the restaurant.
Although this visit was not the best due to inattentive wait staff and our table being so very close to the next diners, the menu provided many options and the food was tasty.
Halibut was overcooked ( but tasty) and meatloaf only ok. No one asked for feedback on the food quality.
A bit noisy for conversation across the table.
Had both a waitress and a waiter - not the least bit friendly or pleasant
Food was good
Service and drinks were very good, however, we weren't pleased with our meal.
Salad was overdressed. Entrees, fair.
Dessert- profiteroles bland. Tasted as if previously frozen.
Great value with a great atmosphere. Service was excellent as well. Food was excellent for the price. Definitely the best value meal we had in NY City.
All good. Can’t beat the French Onion Soup!!
I like this place. We had great, attentive service. Delicious food. Beautiful setting. A bit too loud for myself, but my friend wasn't bothered by it.
