We dined on a Sunday and were among the first tables seated at this BYOB bistro. The restaurant decor is lovely, but the many windows give on to the parking lot and the busy road beyond. Sheer or translucent light-filtering window treatments would add to the intimacy of the dining room before sunset. To start, we enjoyed the charcuterie board with 2 cheeses, 2 meats, grilled bread, olives, fruits, fig jam smear, and a morsel of honeycomb. The frenched chicken garnished with tomato and a slice of artichoke heart served over mashed potatoes with scampi sauce was moist, tender, and delicious, as was the bouillabaisse with fresh halibut that my husband enjoyed. The ample grilled broccolini were firm and tasty. For dessert, the churros with dipping sauces were very crunchy but a tad too dense. Service was kind and attentive. Overall, a very pleasant meal, if just a bit pricey for the experience.

The food is outstanding for a local restaurant. Probably the best in Toms River. Menu choices could use a fish option. If you’re a meat lover this is your place. Prices are high but quality is excellent.

Hi Rosemary, thank you for taking the time to write this review and provide your feedback. We( often have specials running on the weekend that include whatever fresh fish options are offered from local fisheries. We will also take into consideration adding similar options esp. for summer as requested. Thank you for your recommendation.

MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE BEEN HERE A FEW TIMES FOR A WONDERFUL EVENING OF DINING . WE STARTED WITH THEIR NAMED WEDGE SALAD WHICH CAME TO THE TABLE WITH A WONDERFUL PRESENTATION BY CHRIS (OUR WONDERFUL WAITER ) OUR SECOND WAS 2 PRIME RIB SHORT RIBS WITH WHIPPED POTATOES AND SIDE ONIONS ADDING A NCE TOUCH OF FLAVOR. MY HUSBAND HAD A COFFEE ALONG WITH A CREAM BRULEE -I COULDN'T HAVE ANOTHER BITE - BYOB ALSO - RESERVED FOR FATHER'S DAY !!!! CAN'T WAIT !!!!

My husband and I had a lovely dining experience at Rue 561 Bistro! Emma, our hostess, and Chris, our server, were attentive and gracious, with excellent grasp of the menu and esteem for the chef/restaurant. The atmosphere is ideal for “friendly fine dining” …pleasant music, seating lay out fostered comfort and quiet conversation. Our meals and desserts were delicious! Rue 561 Bistro offers a fine dining experience that our area has been lacking.. We are already planning another evening there!

A hidden gem that is being discovered by more people. At 7 PM last night there was a good number of people dining. Chris the waiter is always wonderful and attentive with a smile and genuine small talk. The owner (I guess) was there to see that everything went smoothly. I had the wedge salad, pork chop and side of Brussel sprouts. Date had Short Ribs- everything was delicious and perfect. If you have not been here, put it on your list and BYOB

Rue561 Bistro was such a pleasant surprise We passed it many times and decided to go on Saturday. The food was outstanding,waiter Chris was excellent and the owner stopped by to say hello A very good experience all around. We will make it a regular stop
