Ruby’s and Roses is a new dining experience located in the heart of Pleasanton, California, offering an elegant atmosphere focused on American cuisine and craft cocktails. We drove an hour from San Francisco to try this spot. Beautiful restaurant with very pleasant wait staff. I wasn’t sure what to order so we tried the bone marrow for appetizer. It wasn’t seasoned and the bone marrow held alot of grease. My husband ordered the French toast which was tasty! For entree, I had something the “loco” something or another (can’t remember the name) and it was supppperrrr bland. I sent it back for a grilled shrimp Cesar which was much better. Overall, I give the restaurant a 3/5.

We tied two specialty cocktails and neither one was great. Some of the food was good (lobster noodles, blackened salmon & ribeye), some was lacking flavor (chicken piccata), and the service fell short during the entire meal. Our table wasn’t cleared between apps and our main, so our table of four was scrambling to hand off dishes to receive our entrees. The salmon came out much later than the other dishes. Waters weren’t refilled until I brought the service to the managers attention. I can tell the potential is there to provide good service because they had the various bus staff. The manager tried to make it right, but even after talking to him the service did not improve.

The food was amazing but the service wasn’t there. My friends and I went to celebrate my birthday and our server brought out the birthday dessert and gave it to my friend and told her happy birthday when we all clearly stated it was my birthday and I even had a birthday sash on. My cousin had ordered a plate to go for her husband and instead of handing it to her he places it on the floor. Some of the other waitresses were rude when we were asking simple questions and just walked away. It’s a beautiful place and the food is amazing but like I said the services was not all that great.
