RUBS BBQ Américain Ratings and Reviews
After having listened to their ads for a few years, I finally got a chance to take in Rubs on Prince Arthur. It was delicious.
Our party of 6 thouroughly enjoyed the evening. Specialty drinks and great food. I indulged in the smoked burger with Brie, and wow, it was fantastic.
Our only good complaint was that the nacho platter, while exceptionally tasty, was a little cold. But that didn't stop up from devouring the whole plate.
Glad I chose there to celebrate my birthday. Would absolutely go again.
good BBQ, Very tasty food. Tried mixed platter for two with brisket, chicken, ribs and pulled pork along with side of fries, slaw and beans. All was very good although portions were too large and could easily enough for 3. Only drawback was a little on pricey side although portions were huge. Overall would highly recommend.
We returned to Rubs for a second time. Everything was delicious! We had the Texas platter for four, and there were three of us who were very very hungry. We polished everything off and practically licked the plate clean. Sides ordered were smoked veggies (outstanding!), baked beans (soooo yummy!), spicy fries and coleslaw (loved that it was a vinegar dressing!).
On this second occasion the brisket was a tiny bit dry, but still very delicious. It was my daughters graduation from McGill, and the house sent her a gorgeous piece of cake, which she devoured! Many thanks!!! We love your restaurant for reliable and delicious comfort food that we can count on!
Overall, Rubs was a bit of a let down. The service was great and servers very charming and attentive, but the ambiance felt like a sports bar and not in a good way. Further, the ribs we were all so excited to try were extremely dry and difficult to eat.
My pulled pork sandwich was okay, but wasn't heated all the way through. The sides, with the exception of the fries, were really small portions. Indeed, my meal left more empty white space on my plate than food.
Came for a big delicious meal, but was sadly disappointed.
Hats off to the gang at Rubs! We were a rowdy group of firefighters and they did not disappoint. We were able to sample many of the appetizers and they all hit the mark, we enjoyed the blooming onion the most. For dinner John recommended the sampler platter and it was outstanding! Everything was expertly smoked and was still succulent and juicy. If you go to Rubs be sure to check out the Beef Ribs! We ate and drank ourselves silly until we rolled ourselves out into the cold Montréal night.
The good was succulent. Staff were friendly And one of The owner came ans chatted with us. For a monday lunch it was empty (vacation Time probable) but i can't know of staff Will be as Incredible if it was packed. Anyways, we ate The texan plater for 2 And it was incredible.
I was at the downtown location recently with 5 friends. We ordered a wide variety of dishes from the menu and everything was outstanding. Service was good as well.
Their cocktail menu needs a rework I think; it seemed like everything included maple syrup. I had a cocktail which was basically Bourbon and maple syrup, and there was far too much syrup in my drink (yes, I mixed it well). My only other (minor) complaint would be that our table of 6 was rather cramped, and we would have preferred chair-height tables rather than bar-stool-height tables.
Overall the food was quite good but there was no ambiance at all (it was a Tuesday evening) and the decor is very sober. The bacon appetizers are excellent. The smoke shrimp were very good and were cooked just right. The sweet potato fries were amongst the best I had, especially with the tasty chipolte mayo. The smoke and fried macaroni was so so. The beef ribs had a really nice smoke flavor, but I found the meet to be a bit dry. The bull-dog margarita was a nice experience.
