The lobster could’ve been a whole lobster, that is the only complaint.

The staff was very nice. However one of our meals (filet mignon) came out well done after requesting medium rare. Then our dessert took long to come out, and it also came out well done as well.

We ordered the Futomaki appetizer and were very surprised (and disappointed) to discover it was deep fried. First time we've had deep fried futomaki and definitely not a fan. I couldn't se anywhere on the menu that warns how it is prepared. I ordered the mango & shrimp salad, but the dressing was too heavy and drowned the salad. We rarely remember to ask to please deliver the dressing on the side. I would hope all restaurants would ask up front. My wife ordered the encrusted halibut, but it smelled and tasted very 'fishy'. I ordered the Fillet medium, but it arrived well done so I had to send it back. Unfortunately, that left my wife with the choice of waiting for my meal to return and letting her food get cold or eating alone while I watched. Neither are a good choice. I told her to go ahead and eat before her food got cold. I should have just eaten the steak as is and advised the server. Joyvee was very good, by the way! Attentive and asked a lot of questions. When they returned my 2nd steak, my wife was already finished eating so it was my turn to eat alone. The server waited while I checked the steak and this time it was cooked as requested. Unfortunately, though, the 2nd plate had removed all the accompanying asparagus, which was the best part of the vegetables. Both of our plates were served with roasted potatoes, kabocha, tomatoes and other greens. But they were way too oily and buttery. I don't know if that is the cooking style for Roy's, but it was hard to eat. The setting was nice. Jay Paul was nice to accommodate our request to give us a window table facing the sunset. We were given a table for two facing the ocean. The one issue I had with seating was there was a ceiling light just behind me so I had to eat in my shadow. That was kind of a pain. We hadn't eaten at Roy's in quite a while. Last time there were a lot more customers and the tables were 'stacked' much closer together and was very loud. Seating now is quite roomy
