We go to Roy’s every time we’re in Maui and it never disappoints. Food is consistently delicious, fresh and beautiful. In fact, we go more that 2 times and this visit, we’ve gone to Roy’s 4 times. We would have the blackened ahi every day!
Our waitress was awesome. However, the food wasn’t good... we ordered their short ribs, fried chicken, rib eye, & sushi...... because it was our first time there we tried everything and wasn’t impressed..
Everything was perfect. We will definitely go again. Am really glad that they are open for bisinesss again.
We loved the food, the friendly service and quiet ambiance.
Roy’s exceeded my expectations. From appetizers to dessert. We had sashimi sampler, a couple sushi specials that had butterfish on the rolls and ribs. All mouth watering. For the entree I had monchong perfectly done with Mac nuts. My husband had they honey glazed ribs, fall of the bone good. And of course chocolate soufflé for dessert. The Keiki meal was amazing - carrot sticks to start with gourmet cheese quesadilla and for entree we chose hibachi salmon with rice and veggies and ice cream with sprinkles. Overall, amazing food and service was unparalleled.
A group of three of us went to Roy’s to celebrate a birthday, and we were so delighted with our evening. This was the first time we had come back to Roy’s following weeks of temporary closure due to Covid. The restaurant was immaculate, there were fewer tables than usual that were spaced far apart. Our server, Konrad, is also a manager at the restaurant. He was polite, efficient, jovial and a real gentleman. Our dinner was superb...delicious fresh fish with to die for sauces, fantastic calamari and shrimp pupus, and a couple of the specialty Roy’s Yamaguchi sushi selections. There was a surprise dessert we shared in honor of the birthday. In all, we could not have been happier with the entire experience. We applaud Roy’s for their excellent in customer service and food as well as clear and present attention to all health considerations during this difficult time. Thank you! A hui hou!
We enjoyed everything about our evening. Food and service were amazing.
Wonderful food and atmosphere! Would highly recommend and will return again! Thanks for being open!
Made to feel very safe with their Covid protocols
Mahalo for a great night out!
Wouldn’t have wanted to spend my girlfriends birthday anywhere else but here. The food is TO DIE FOR. It was both of our first times here and won’t be our last. The fish was cooked to perfection, friendly service. We drool thinking about this place.
Have been here many times pre -pandemic and always enjoyed the experience here. In its current operating ability....its
not a good place to have a meal. Stand up only at the Bar, no bar stools...not good for anyone that can’t stand for a long period to have a couple drinks and pious. Meal presentation in a typical Roy’s style was non existent. Both our meals looked like To Go in a styrofoam box, everything piled on top of rice or fries. I’ll wait to go back here after the pandemic is over.
It’s was open, don’t know how long... support our local restaurant
Thanks you for being open during these tough times. My wife and I enjoy date night. Food , service and view brought us back the next night with the kids. Staff was on point. MOD thank us for coming back . Restaurant was super clean and service was amazing.
We will be back..
The best meal we had in our week on the island. Not even close. Servers were aware but not hovering. Tremendous.
Roy’s never disappoints. The filets were perfectly cooked and delicious. The service was outstanding. We will return
Good food as usual. Quality service in comfortable setting.
The food was unique, beautifully presented and delicious.
The food was amazing and the service was top notch. The attention the servers gave to us made us feel at home.
Everything was delicious -the crab cakes, fish and of course the chocolate soufflé. A must order!
From start to finish it was great
Menu could use updating, but everything is excellent.
For a special occasion, Roy's is the place to celebrate. Great service and no one cooks fish better than Roy's.
I really enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend!
I don't often write reviews or give recommendations, but the Misoyaki Butterfish was one of the best meals I've ever eaten.
What you come to expect at a Roy’s. Friendly, excellent service. Delicious vegetarian options. The butterfish is outstanding. And stay for the chocolate soufflé.
Fish was over cooked
Duck was over cooked
Roy’s was fantastic! The food and drinks were Absolutely delicious and were cooked perfectly. The menu and specials were off the charts! Our waiter was really good, the only reason I knocked service down was in regards to the server helpers, I felt they lacked some of the attention to detail and refinement worthy of a restaurant of this caliber. All in all we had a wonderful meal, great view of the golf course and watched a beautiful sunset. We’ll be going back to Roy’s. Wonderful place!
The food and wine were excellent. The service was just barely acceptable, courteous but not friendly.
Fish was excellent. Wife had Monchong and I had the Butterfish. Must have chocolate souffle!!
Ordered steak...one ribeye and one fillet. Neither was particularly tasty. Veggies good. Enjoyed the pineapple upside down cake. Overall just okay.
Excellent server who was knowledegable and very patient. Explained the menu and made very good recommendations
Food was excellent and the atmosphere was energetic but not noisy. Very easy to have a conversation with other quests at your table
Had a great dinner here with my sister. All our food was excellent. We were well taken care of by the staff. Sat at a table at the back of the restaurant so it was nice and quiet for a change. Highly recommended.
We have been going to Roy's Restaurants in various locations for about 30 years. This visit was the most disappointing visit to Roy's we have ever had. Our server, Johnny was great; however, the food was terrible. We started with the Szechuan Baby Back Pork Ribs
which we returned---they had some kind of over-salted brown paste on them that was horrible. We have had this same dish many times and they are usually delicious. We then had the BLT salad which had very little flavor and the greens were not fresh like so many other restaurants in Maui. We have been missing the Butterfish which is one of our favorites so ordered the Butterfish Entree...it was also missing flavor and some of the beautiful glaze that usually gets browned in the cooking process...so disappointed!!!! Lastly, we had the Souffle which was the ONLY item in our meal that we finished---it was the only item which was cooked properly with a nice melted chocolate center. I think the kitchen staff at this Roy's needs more training in the Roy's menu staples. (Note: we have been to 12 different Roy's locations and eaten at Roy's hundreds of times).
Decided I had enough fish for the week so decided to try the prime rib. Never saw it before on the menu but knowing the good quality of food we figured it had to be delish! But it was not! No seasoning, meat on outside overcooked and very tuff, meat in inside too rare. The piece was flavorless and tuff. I would suggest they improve or remove!
There fish is still best choice!
We love Roy’s. The food has never disappointed in the islands. Glad to get in for breakfast with the current location. My wife always gets the classic Yamaguchi blacken ahi and always loves it.
This was our first time dining at Japan
We weren’t overly hungry so decided to share a few small plates - I think they call them pupus. We had the ribs which were very good - tender with a lovely glaze. We also had the butterfish which was exceptional. Definitely a dish I’d have next visit. The only mediocre dish we had was the sushi. It was okay but nothing special. Our waiter was great and we liked the upbeat feel to the restaurant.
Amazing food and service! We were first seated by a loud party and waitress requested we be moved without us even asking. Seafood was fabulous, butterfish was great and desserts were also amazing. We are planning on going back before we leave the island.
Great dining experience as usual. Dinner was great but I really come for the.lava cake it can’t be beat!
Nice location in Maui. Beautiful views of the golf course. The server was very attentive. The meal, as always, outstanding. Our biggest complaint was the noise level. It was very loud and difficult to hear each other talk. We'd come back though.
