Roy's - Kaanapali
Nice ambience, but overpriced. We ordered two different fish dishes. One was dry, and the other one had very little memorable flavor.
We’ve been here many years prior. We had an early reservation and it took over an hour to get our meal. The fish was mushy which is so surprising for Roy’s. We had to ask to remove our plates to pay the bill (20-25 min after we finished). no dessert for us.
The noise level and dining environment will never allow this place to actually be a fine dining experience. We have loved Roy's for years, but the move to the golf course has ruined the experience, and we will not return.
What a price to pay for such a bad overall experience with great food.
Our waiter, Mike, was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. Great value on the kids meals with appetizer, first, second and dessert all included. We always go to Roys when we come to Maui.
The food was good. The food would of been amazing if the service was great. My husband and I felt we where being ignore. Our waiter never really checked on us we kept having to get his attention if we needed something. My husband drinks was always empty. The bus server was amazing. He kept making sure if we needed more water. I wish we could of left him the tip instead of our server. We did notice the server was always paying attention to the other tables couples that where a lot older then us. I was very disappointed with the service. Especially for what we paid and being a lil bit of a high end restaurant. I would not recommend this place no one and would not come back. Just so you know we went on Saturday October 12 about 7:15 and we where sitting right back end corner.
Great food and we were treated like royalty!
Grateful to have a high level experience while enjoying vegan food.
We visit Maui at least twice a year and always eat to Roy’s. I’ve never had a bad meal. The food is consistently excellent and often unique. Reservations are honored in a timely fashion and the staff is consistently friendly. My only suggestion, this time only, is that the dishes be cleared in a timely fashion. Perhaps the waiter was new, but by the end of the meal we still had our edamame dishes, cocktail glasses, unused wine glasses and appetizer dishes still on the table. It was unappetizing, but didn’t detract from the food we were eating.
We came here to have a nice dinner on our honeymoon. We made our reservations for 6pm and got in right away. We were sat at a nice table in the corner. The service was good and the people were very attentive. We had the chicken and the salmon. The chicken was a bit rubbery in texture and didn’t have a lot of flavor. The mashed potatoes and vegetables were good. The salmon was cooked just right. We had the chocolate soufflé for dessert and that was delicious! All in all, you should definitely come here, just be prepared for the high prices. You’re definitely paying for the name, not the food.
HAVE GONE TO THIS LOCATION BEFORE. HAD RESERVATION BUT WERE SEATED NEAR THE BAR AT HAPPY HOUR. IT WAS LOUD, AND FOR AN ANNIVERSARY DINNER, NOT PARTICULARLY APPRECIATED. COFFEE WAS LUKE WARM, WHICH I HATE TO SAY SEEMS TO BE THE USUAL FOR ROY'S AND SHOULD BE IMPROVED, BUT OTHERWISE, THE USUAL ATTENTIVE SERVICE AND EXCELLENT QUALITY FOOD.
Everything was delicious, but that was the best Lumpia I’ve ever had.
Truly an enjoyable dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
It is a bit on the pricey side and I reserve it for special occasions.
Fabulous food, ambience, and location. Everything was excellent.
Really good food with an amazing view of the golf course.
My lovely wife brought me to Roy’s for my birthday dinner, and it was delightful. The service was fantastic. The food was excellent. We come back every time we visit Maui as they have never let us down.
A special note: I am a wine collector and very picky about my wines. As such, I stick to tropical cocktails when I visit Hawaii as I always regret drinking wine in Hawaii - it just doesn’t ship or store well in the tropics! But here at Roy’s I know I will get a great glass or bottle of wine because they know what they’re doing, and ship&store their wines properly. Order with confidence.
Always great food and service. Prices have gone up since our last visit 6 years ago.
The Butterfish and Chocolate Lava Cake are must have!
Great experience as always. The food was superb. I highly recommend it. The place needs an update but it's not bad.
Roy's is always consistent on a high level. We come here every year and it never disappoints us. Have the ribs and definitely the Frying Dragon Roll for appetizers. There is nothing like it. For Entrees the Butter fish never gets old. Order the chocolate soufflé early for dessert, incedible!
Awesome food and scenery! Will definitely recommend to others.
Food was amazing, compliments to the sous chef and the rest of the kitchen!!
The attention of the wait staff has decreased as appears to our past yearly experiences and the experience we had in Wailea this vacation.
Sept 26/19 - Another very memorable dinner at Roy's - Kaanapali - attentive and pleasant table service, first rate food and delivery. My 3 course Prixe Fixe meal with selected Beef Short Ribs entree was sensational and the Chololate Soufle dessert was the perfect finish for my wife and I to share.
Amazing food and wait staff! They were all so nice and accommodating! Thank you for making our night special
Always a favorite must go to when we are in Maui. Love the food and service. Wehadamother great time. The Butterfish is still amazing. Never gets old.
2 of us ordered Opah. One was under-cooked and the other was over-cooked. Other 2 entrees were good not exceptional.
Food was great. Service was spotty at best. We observed more than one other table having issues.
Ordered the duo seafood plate with ahi and butter fish. Very delicious. I ordered the BLT salad and a sushi roll. I requested the roll as my entree. It was served as my first course. Consumed after my salad. The salad was good but could have been served colder. The spicy ahi roll did not have very much ahi. Disappointing. The wait staff asked about dessert, which was funny because we ordered the chocolate soufflé with our main courses. Overall experience: Just OK!
Great food and great service! Celebrated my birthday and it was a memorable experience that I plan on repeating next year when I return to Maui!
Not the same as 10 years ago at the old location...
Yes, would recommend Roy’s to friends and family. Food was excellent but we would desire more time between starting with drinks and serving the main meal accompanied with wine. Seemed more rushed than necessary. Overall, a very good birthday celebration.
Roy’s lost his touch. Food was average at best. The chocolate molten cake was a brilliant idea 20 years ago. Even Cheesecake Factory has stop doing it. My wife and me were celebrating our anniversary, and we chose Roy’s to celebrate the event. No one at Roy’s seem to care about it. Long story short, I will not be back.
Fine dining at its best-food service, food, ambience were outstanding. The restaurant maintains its high quality.
We went to Roy’s while staying on Maui for our anniversary. Their location in Lahaina does not have the same ambiance as their old location. The food was still good!
This was our first time at Roy’s Kaanapali. We hosted some friends from Hawaii Island. We had a great meal, beverages and wonderful time. Service was outstanding, friendly, very quick. We had a great time .
Delicious food. Great staff. Could use a dining room makeover
Very nice though
Very accommodating with vegetarian menu. Attentive staff, all working as a team. Our waiter, Calvin, was a consummate professional. I am looking forward to coming back.
My wife and I were looking forward to dining at Roy's on Maui. We had many excellent meals there, but had been away for several years. Unfortunately we were very disappointed at the quality of the food and service. My wife's meal of ceasar salad and grilled chicken were completely devoid of flavor. A had a very good sushi roll as an appetizer, but my butter fish entree was average. Our waiter was inattentive at best. We requested bread, which he said was warming in the oven, but never made it two the table. We also heard two tables near us complaining of over cooked food and a burnt lobster side order which cost $28.
We have been coming to several different locations for 25 years. The food was great, but with an $80 steak, my husband didn't have what he wanted to. 3 years ago on the Big Island was the last time we had dinner at Roy's.
