By far, the best prepared and tasty meal I’ve ever had.
The meal was reasonably good and it was generally good value for the money. The fish dish my wife ordered was a bit overcooked and dry. The meat dish I ordered was just fine. It was not a great meal but it was perfectly acceptable. Our server was excellent.
Appetizers were wonderful. Andre was as explained by the waiter and was very very good. It was a little pricey but not not compared to the rest of the restaurants in this area
Favorite restaurant on Maui. Always have lunch there every year when in Maui.
My wife and I had dinner at Roys during a vacation trip.
AMBIENCE: the restaurant is located in a golf facility building so it feels more like a country club restaurant - more spare and functional.
FOOD: Seafood is a strength of Roys and our seafood risotto and fresh fish of the day plates were very good (better than most Roys I have dined at).
The baby back ribs appetizer was delicious.
Their renowned chocolate soufflé was a bit overcooked/dry but still tasty.
SEVICE: very good - friendly, professional, attentive
The Best of the Best!
Very good as usual
Power went out after our drinks were served. After waiting for 30 minutes without any news we got up and went to the front desk and told the hostess we were leaving. Had to wait an additional five minutes for our bill for the drinks. There are better restaurants in Kaanapali.
Every course was outstanding! The service was wonderful. This was not our 1st time and we will continue to go back
We love Roy’s and have been coming to many of their locations for 30+ years. The restaurant was dark with all but 2 sunshades pulled down obstructing the view. We had to insist we wanted our shade up. We didn’t experience adequate lighting in the dining room to make up for the darkness. We hope this changes and we will come a different time of day than sunset in the future.
There were four in my party and we all agreed that the food was just okay. Nothing to write home about. The table next to us was occupied by eight boisterous men that ruined our dinner. They had a good time but we did not.
All the staff we interacted with were incredibly friendly and hospitable. I ordered the prix fixe menu which included a ceasar salad with crispy calamari, a small surf and turf of short ribs and grilled salmon, and pineapple upsidedown cake to finish. The calamari was incredibly fresh and tender. The short ribs were buttery and fell apart deliciously and the entree also included a delicious cheesy potato gratin. The dessert was the perfect finish with the pineapple fired and warm served with ice cream on the side. My husband got the meatloaf and really enjoyed it. The restaurant looks out onto the golf course so we had a vast and beautiful view with our meal.
Anniversary lunch . The chocolate soufflé was extremely good you have to order at the giving of your order . Great fish specials.
We have been to several different Roy's or Roy affiliated restaurants on different Hawaiian Islands and they do not disappoint in the quality of their food.
Our server and service was great, just was not and enjoyable entree. Celebrating our Anniversary and didn't wish to ruin the evening. The food was bland with little flavor, and the ribeye was ordered medium and was served undercooked at medium rare, even after returning it to cook more, it was still rare in the center. And yes I truly know the proper way a steak should be served. The macadamia crusted Au had absolutely no flavor and was quite rubbery. Truly disappointing
The Appetizers (ribs and shrimp skewer's) and the presentation of the entre were excellent.
The taste of the entres were quite disappointing. Definitely not the way I wished our anniversary dinner to be.
But we thank you for your service just the same. Just wanted to provide an honest opinion of our experience.
Food was very spendy for what you get
Everything else was fine
Food is mediocre and overpriced, however the service was great.
Service was good, the food was a huge disappointment, no dressing on the salad, chicken egg rolls were made with ground chicken didn’t care for them.
Thie particular Roy's has the great food common to other outlets, but it is a bit higher priced than on the mainland. It is also a bit less swanky than many outlets. But the service is truly outstanding (Junior wasour servicer
Wonderful! Went for our anniversary they were so sweet made us a delicious anniversary dessert! The staff was fantastic, kind and so accommodating. Food was so delicious!!
Fabulous as always. Great atmosphere, service, and food.
Mark took great care of us! We are volunteering at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Stopped in for scheduled dinner. We had an incredible meal with incredible service from Mark!! Food was superb!!
OBTW, we were driving home to Wailuku tonight (Saturday) after working the tournament. Called and was able to get into Roy’s for an early dinner. Staff rocks, food is the best..and Mark. 👍🏻👍🏻
Our waiter Mark was great. Food was as good as we remembered. Much quieter than normal due to Covid restrictions.
Our server, Mark, was fantastic. So friendly and helpful with food selection. Thanks, Mark!
The food and service were the best we've experienced on Maui. The only downside was that the table next to us had two children with very loud games playing. Sadly, the parents were both on their phones and unattentive as well. As annoying as it was, our server gave us a complimentary desert and I sense that it was an accomodation. This is a "must" restaurant.
Matty D is always a great host! Thanks Matt!
The food was not exceptional by any means, but the service was gracious and the ambiance was pleasant, not to mention the few choices to dine in for lunch in the area.
I thought the steaks were tough and not the quality we have come to expect from Roy’s
Great food as always from this wonderful chef.
We love mainland Roy's and was hoping for something special with the special (higher price!) Sunset Prix Fixe menu presented to us on New Year's Eve. If there was a mention of this different offering on the website, it wasn't evident at the time that the reservation was made a few weeks earlier.
With that said, we were pretty disappointed with the quality of the sides offered to us and the usual ribs weren't even an option. The potatoes were greasy and bland, round medallions that definitely had a better texture than mom's pot roast potatoes, but not up to our expectations whatsoever. The view of the golf course is beautiful here and the service was on par (ha!), however, it feels like Roy's is a tired country club restaurant at this location. Also, there were about 6 options on the prix fixe for the main course but only a single cheesecake dessert option, so the usual Chocolate Soufflé was not to be had. In hindsight I guess I could have asked for a special order, but at $100 per person for prix fixe you would think they would pull out the stops a bit more.
I'm normally not one to write reviews, but suffice it to say Roy's Ka'anapali was fine if you've never been to Roy's. Otherwise, go back to the other one you enjoyed.
Nye. Was a wonderful dinner!
Great as usual. We’ve been to Maui 5 times and have eaten at Roys three times and it is always great.
Wow wow wow… This place lives up to the reputation of its founder and its master chefs. Finally, we ate some dishes in Maui that lived up to its reputation. Desserts were from some other world. Junior took care of our table and he was one of the friendliest guys we came across in this industry. The prices are incredibly fair - Now I am starting to think if we want to try any other high end restaurant in Maui.
I can’t recommend this Roy’s. While it’s not awful, we were looking forward to a dining experience. The service was mediocre. We were provided with a less than stellar wine list…all offerings were also “by the glass.”
The Caesar salad was actually a garden salad. No croutons, but included cucumbers and tomatoes. Very odd. The short ribs were delicious and the shrimp was perfect. But the rest of the food was very ordinary, but at fine dining prices.
We won’t return to this location.
Sylvia, our server, did an especially fantastic job. Loved her suggested wine pairing and course recommendations. Food was delicious. Timing was impeccable. Every staff member we passed welcomed us and were very cheerful in general. Great vibe.
Our reservation was at 145 so we ordered from the lunch menu.
The ribs were as good as I remembered!
Dawn our server was terrific. Gave us just right amount of attention
Our server, Dawn, was excellent, attentive but not obsequious. We split a BLT salad which was delicious and plenty for 2 people. I was happy to see Butterfish on the menu, which is a favorite of mine. That said, there was just too much “stuff” on the fish. Butterfish is delicate and would have been delicious just on the soba noodles, but it’s’ flavor was drowned out by all the vegetables and sauce. My husband was looking forward to steak and lobster but it’s no longer on the menu. He ordered the Kauai prawns on saffron rice, an again, found the flavor overwhelmed by lots of veggies and sauce. I was gifted a beautiful dish of Lilikoi sorbet with berries for my Birthday, which was perfect, light and refreshing. We try to eat at Roy’s each year when we come to Maui and will continue to do so, but in the future I’ll limit my choice to something with less ingredients.
Always a pleasure at Roy's Kaanapali. Mark took exceptionally good care of us, with great recommendations. Looking forward to our next Maui trip to come back here.
We had a wonderful evening overlooking the golf course. Sean took excellent care of us through the evening and made perfect recommendations.
The calamari and butterfish were outstanding. Chocolate soufflé was perfect - dark chocolate and not too sweet. Nice end to a nice evening.
Great view and excellent Roy’s fare at a classic location. Excellent service, this meal was the highlight of our day!
