Roy's Beach House at Turtle Bay
The concept and design for the new 140-seat open –air restaurant are a reflection of Roy’s love for white sandy beaches and the ocean. Roy has fond memories of potluck gatherings on the beach with a variety of his family’s favorite dishes- a memory he hopes to create for you at the Beach House.
So please come and indulge in one of our spectacular hand crafted cocktails or choose from a selection of ice cold local beers while you discover the fresh ingredients and outstanding seafood, expertly prepared by our local chefs that have made Roy’s famous.
Very good food. They were also very accommodating to allergies.
The Beach house version is more casual than at Ko O’Liina on the south shore of Oahu, but the food is equally good. The open-air dining experience right on the beachside makes for a spectacular view. Highly recommend.
I had the crab cakes for an appetizer and they seemed more like a gourmet hush puppy with a hint of crab. The sashimi platter was fantastic.
The staff was very friendly, professional, kind, and accommodating. The food was delicious. The view was lovely.
Wonderful location, free parking with public beach access. The food was extremely tasty! Please get yourself messy by having the ribs appy and the peel and eat shrimp 👍 we must go there again!
Lovely location, good food and impressive timber decor put this restaurant into a class above most on the North Shore. However, having been recommended to come for the "view and sunset", we were disappointed to find the view was blocked by drinkers standing in the way of the view, past sunset. We were told they were not even diners.
On the service side, the place fairly hummed with more staff than knew what to do with themselves apart from trying to appear busy. This detracted from an ambience of relaxed dining and moreover created a sense of frantic busyness that was distracting and hard to justify, given so many staff.
Having recently spent a similarly-priced evening at the revolving restaurant in Waikiki without fault or blemish, Roy's didn't live up to the hype, leaving food quality as the possibly saving plus.
Great view of the beach. The service was good - good personalities. Food was amazing. Little spendy but great food.
Great server with great food.
Service was awesome! Food was Amazing! Our waiter was outstanding!
We dined at this restaurant three of the five nights that we stayed at Turtle Bay resort. This was a great way to get a good idea of what the restaurant is really like. The service each of the three nights was good with varying degrees of enthusiasm and attention to our satisfaction. We were able to try many different items from the menu. The macadamia nut crusted mahi-mahi was our favorite but the butter fish and the sushi were really good, too. The entrees all seemed to reflect the high prices of dining in Hawaii, especially on the North Shore. The specialty drinks were really good with the Roy's Martini being our favorite. Wines by the glass were really good and the chocolate dessert and the pineapple dessert were our favorites. Located right near the beach, it appears that in warmer weather there are tables on the outside also. The Friday night we went, there were a lot of loud people. The other mid-week nights were much more quiet.
A wonderful, delicious meal in a beautiful setting. Reasonably priced for Hawaii fine dining. Will come back again next time we visit Oahu.
Ambiance and Location are top notch! Quality of food sub-par! If you have ever been to a Land and Ocean restaurant, they have you beat in the taste test. I have eaten at your restaurants in the past, this location and Kona and feel you have lost it in the food category. I had the macadamia nut crusted Mahi Mahi. My plate came and my son and I were overwhelmed by the bad fish smell...I tried to ignore and take a bite of fish. The was so blah, uneventful, lack luster, I couldn't even bring myself to take but a few bites. The fingerling potatoes were much better then whatever you replaced it with...that I to only took maybe 2 bites of. Asparagus was nothing to write about either. My son had the cob salad and said it was ok and by the look of it to me was nothing special. He said the spring rolls were good, but nothing to rave about except for the dipping sauce. Molten lava cake was about the only thing I would say was consistent and awesome. This is my 4th year in a row eating at your place and it has gone down a notch every time in the food category. I kept coming back hoping it was just a bad night or different chef. next year I will have to go elsewhere. I couldn't answer if I would recommend as I would say location awesome, food poor.
Loved my filet. It was my birthday and I couldn’t hear a thing from the waitress/waiter or my husband.
I’m young so it’s not my hearing. The music is too LOUD and not so great. We are a LOCAL family. We will come back, however we will have our dinner in the bar. Maybe we can suggest your music be in the bar!
Hoping you succeed
Excellent spot beside turtle bay resort. We drove from Waikiki beach to Roys and spent the day at the bay beside the restaurant. Food was very delicious, and had a great view of the water. Service was also very good and not overwhelming. A must if you are at the north shore in Oahu!
Somehow Roy's perfectly blends fine dining with family friendly without dumbing anything down. The food was fantastic and I was equally impressed that the kids' menu was actually good, beautifully plated food. I would happily return for a romantic dinner. I would be thrilled to return with my children.
My wife’s Birthday Lunch. We’ve been living on Oahu for seven years. Formally wine Educators from NYC. Restaurants are a part of our life. This restaurant has it all especially compared to all of the many Roy’s on the Hawaiian Islands. Impeccable service from the greeting to the wait-service. We’ve been to both Ola and Roy’s and there is absolutely no comparison. The ambiance with rustic wood and super comfortable tables Just adds to the whole experience. The bussing is perfect. Never a dirty plate left more The a minute. If I could pick one dish of the many superb dishes, have the Spicy Ahi Poke Bowl. But everything is exciting. The wine list has some interesting treats. PS as a birthday treat we were given their brand new Lobster Roll which was as perfect as anything found on the Maine Coast in the State Maine.
Great food, and attentive staff. Beautiful view. Highly recommend!
Great way to end the morning after a short hike around the bay. The lunch and service were outstanding! Looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended!
There are very few good upscale dining options on the North Shore and Roy's Beach House is not one of them. The space is charming and quite beautiful during sunset. The staff is attentive and friendly. Items come out of the kitchen wonderfully. But the food itself is not up to the Roy's brand. You see a few of the well known classic Roy's items on the menu but they do not meet the standard of the Roy's brand that we have come to know from dining at many Roy's Restaurants around the world. The food is not bad, it is just not a true Roy's culinary experience. Sadly, the prices are in line with other Roy's Restaurants which hammers the value. The restaurant is a beach house. The food is actually beach house food, if you will. So give us beach house pricing. It would improve the overall experience and move this place to 4-5 star rating.
This place was absolutely wonderful. The food was perfect from the appetizer to the coffee & dessert. Service was impeccable & each person was accommodating.
Food was expensive. Tasted good. Main issue was with hostess stand. There were two tables on the beach open, we arrived with a reservation. They told us we could have the table, but then someone just sat down and they let them stay. While that happened, they gave away the other table. We then had to sit inside. After all that, the hostess basically said, oh well, too bad. Won’t ever be back, so maybe they accomplished their goal.
If you're looking for a high-end dinner on the North Shore, Roy's is the place to go.
My wife and I have traveled all over the world. Roy’s Beach House at Turtle Bay is the quintessential Romantic restaurant. Picture yourself being seated at a beautiful table by totally gracious hostesses and being served by a staff who encompass the true Aloha Spirit. Your view is a small idyllic beach and easily accessible swimming area. You gaze out towards lumbering Surf if it’s winter time as it is now. It is always breezy and never too hot due to the north shore trade winds. Your menu has so much to choose from and there is a quite decent beverage list. I’ve tried just about everything on the menu since Roy opened about two years ago and I have never been even slightly disappointed. If you have any questions about ingredients etc. any staff member is totally knowledgeable. For the second time my wife and I had The Spicy Tuna Bowl. For us it’s the best item on the menu. Roy’s is a true Destination Restaurant. MAKE RESERVATIONS. It’s a must. Early dinner is also a must since your view is basically east; Sunset!
What a great restaurant! Great food, ambiance and service. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a special dining experience.
My wife and I enjoyed the awesome appetizers with the suggested wine pairings. My Butterfish with vegetables were PERFECT! My wife had the short ribs and was moaning with pleasure. The lava cake and pineapple upside down cake was the perfect climax! Time for a nap 🍻🇺🇸
Overall it was great. The food was very good, service was very good and you can’t beat the view. The price however was too high. It’s not that we could not afford it but $180.00 for two with only one glass of wine each is too much!
I have always enjoyed the Misoyaki Butterfish and was disappointed that it was no longer on the lunch menu. The chefs prepared it for me anyways! I am a chef, so I understand that this messes with your mise en place. Mahalo nui loa!
Waitress spilled a drink on us and we got no compensation whatsoever :(
Roy's is great, it's the second time we've been there for a small family celebration.
The staff @ Roy’s located at Turtle Bay have been well trained. If you’re looking for an very quick and expensive meal experience then this is your restaurant. From the moment we were seated the meal was rushed with all the staff pushing us to quickly order without much reflection. I was quite surprised to be asked about my dessert order moments after the main course had been presented. I had no real issues with the food.. the meals were tasty and visually pleasing. I was just not expecting a “ turn and burn” meal with a bottle of wine on the North Shore of Hawaii.
It was our anniversary and the first table, a large 4 top, they sat us at was next to server stand and chairs were way to low for table. We moved to a two top and waitress, Victoria, took a long time to greet us, promising to come back for drink order. That was her communication pattern promising next course was coming in two minutes which morphed to ten. Victoria did not ask if we were enjoying our meal or we would have told her the potatoes served were cold. Busboy was attentive - we had water if no food or drink.
Overall we enjoyed are time there. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the server.
Wonderful ambience, great service from Averie and very delicious food served perfectly.
Fantastic food! We loved the simultaneously upscale yet laidback ambiance of Roy’s. The service was spot on and the staff very knowledgeable about the menu items and preparation techniques. The cocktails were outstanding! Our dining experience from Pupu to desert was exceptional. Roy’s is truly worth the money if you want a dynamite experience with outrageously great food.
Fantastic place! Loved the ambiance and the food! The wait staff was so friendly!
We are at Roy’s twice in our recent vacation. It is a magical setting, great food, and attentive staff. The butterfish and macadamia encrusted MahiMahi are exquisite.
Loved the atmosphere here, casual and beachy! As always Roy's menu is executed perfectly. The sashimi was excellent as were the oysters. Servers were on point with menu preparation and how presented. We had a good pace to our meal as well.
First time visit to Royʻs Beach House but we got what we expect from a Royʻs name. The restaurant is right on the beach - tho that evening the winds were howling. Other than that it was still a very memorable evening with wonderful service and food. I had the Prix Fixe Braised Short Ribs dish and my wife ordered the Misoyaki Butterfish. Both dishes were very good although my wife says she prefers the same dish at Royʻs Ko Olina. I love the Hot Chocolate soufflé dessert! Weʻll go back again in the future.
Exactly the beachfront lunch with a view that I was seeking.
