Nothing about our experience was for stars! Don’t recommend at all.
Nice property with ocean views. Food good and slightly less expensive than nearby restaurants.
They were out of a couple dishes we wanted and then our drinks never came because they ran out of one of the ingredients. Our waitress let us know this but not until we’d finished our meal. Overall we weren’t impressed. Food was decent but the whole dining experience left a lot to be desired.
This place was terrible, largely because we had a server who clearly did not want to be there, purposefully ignored us, told us incorrect information about the food, and did not even come back to see how we were doing...would not go back.
Unfortunately neither of our appetizers nor our meals were as described in the menu. The “crispy” Brussel sprouts, while fairly tasty, were not at all crispy and in fact had a moist coating. The spicy ahi poke was not in the very least spicy. The lobster Mac and Cheese had a very distasteful sauce and NO lobster. My husband ordered the crab crusted mahi mahi and will there was some coating on the fish, it was not crab. Overall an incredibly disappointing meal particularly because we were there for New Years Eve. We won’t return and advise against the Royal Ocean Terrace.
There are better places to go for the money you’ll spend here, though the entertainment was lovely.
Sushi was unbelievable. The prime rib and fish was also excellent. Beautiful view of the sunset. Server was very good. Lots of food with the dishes. Drinks were best we had in Maui.
Has to send our steak back twice as they did not know how to make it medium rare.
Hotel food with all the shortcuts. Some of our party enjoyed their dishes, but defrosted frozen lobster chunks, dry flavorless mahi-mahi, and pasta with globby Alfredo and bacon straight out of a 1972 cookbook were far from the luxurious experience the prices suggested. Weird overly familiar waiter, too.
Service was extremely poor. Wasn’t seated outside despite selecting this at reservation and sharing that this was our honeymoon. When we asked if we could be sat on the patio, apparently they won’t move people who have come for happy hour and have finished eating and just sit there and won’t leave.
We waited twenty five minutes for anyone to acknowledge our table and kept being ignored by the busboy filling table waters directly around us, despite making eye contact and motioning for waters. Eventually our server came and took our orders and we still waited another ten minutes until my husband finally went to the bar and got us some water in plastic cups. Food was okay at best, finally coming to our table, close to the 50 minute mark. Prime rib was over cooked as we asked what temperature it was already prepared at and the server didn’t know. It was likely cooked again to reach medium rare when he wanted it to be whatever it was prepared at for that day.
To top it all off, our server charged my bill with someone else’s credit card!
Only saving grace was the manager rectified the situation quickly without even telling him the entire ordeal. Live music was nice but based on comments from other diners around us, the service is definitely lacking and we weren’t the only table dissatisfied.
Lovely setting with good food and super service. And a great sunset in addition.
Food was good; sunset was wonderful. Prices were reasonable for Maui- 5 of us with 2 appetizers and inexpensive bottle of wine dined for $300 including tip.
Good resort restaurant with decent choice of food and drinks off two menus. Excellent service from Cara who is a credit to the serving team.
Breath taking ocean view!!! Breakfast special $9.99 included 2 eggs, rice and bacon. What a deal. Better to sit outside vs indoors. Indoors did not have air conditioning.
Marissa is so friendly and gave us so much of the Aloha spirit. We were seated outside and the flies were bothersome but once the food arrived everything was perfect. Thank you.
Great value. Great view. Perfect for families. This a great go to spot for lunch or dinner. The prices are excelllet for Maui.
While the food was good the environment felt like a cafeteria. Busy, noisy, lots going on.
As a guest of an establishment, I’m always interested to see how the food is, compared to the local restaurants. This place is just an ok restaurant. The view is great, the food is good and our server was horrible. I mean HORRIBLE! No surprises really, since he is not a native Hawaiian, but from France I’m pretty certain. I’ve had other servers here, at other times of the day and they have been pretty good, but not great
The check in was a disaster. Our waitress was darling but clueless. The food was not good. My tuna was tough and so was my steak. There was way too little of the wasabi cream sauce touted for the tuna and the peppercorn sauce for the steak was a heavy Worcestershire sauce with nary a peppercorn in sight. A very disappointing experience.
Food is OK, but not great.
Service is very hit or miss. There was no wine list provided when we were seated. When we asked for same we were provided with only a cocktail list. It seemed as if they didn't understand what we were asking for. Finally recieved a wine list on the third try.
My meal was served several minutes before that of my wife and daughter.
Even though we had a reservation, when we arrived they asked for our room number. When I stated that we were not staying at the hotel, and again mentioned our reservation, the hostess said she would see if there were any tables available. There were six empty tables within our immediate view.
Overall, a very unprofessional and mediocre experience from individuals who don't seem to care about customer service.
Rated food good because my husband ordered the prime rib medium rare and it was way overdone at medium to medium well. The mahi-mahi was excellent. The live entertainment was very nice.
Beautiful setting on the ocean, great food, wonderful service and even a mini show. Best value in Maui.
Service was extremely slow. Steak ordered med rare ad was WELL DONE!
Will not go there again.
Very nice place. Food was very good. The singer and hula dancer was a very nice touch.
Menu choices have changed
My food was not very hot when served ; meat and fish were very dry.
Great hotel bar and restaurant. Nice people and great service. Great flat breads
Excellent service from our waiter Grant. Kid friendly, relaxed atmosphere
It was busy so we did have to wait quite a long time for our food. It was worth the wait as the food was really good and everyone in our group of 6 enjoyed their meal. Our waiter(Grant) was terrific! His recommendations were spot on.
The location and service were superb. Out waitress was very attentive and made our visit very enjoyable. The food was good but as most things in Hawaii, over priced.
Food was fair, had steak that was mostly gristle. Ahi tuna was cooked through, rather than seared.
The welcome was like why are you here. The fish was overlooked. Sauce was meager. Service was lacking.
Hula dancers performed while we dined, live Hawaiian music, delicious food, beautiful scenery! The aloha spirit was here. I'll eat here again for sure.
Informal, relatively inexpensive, decent food. Not for foodies; outside seating area noisier more informal (beach attire}.
You are mostly paying for the experience. The scenic view of the beach is beautiful and there was live music and dances, literally right in front of a pool and shuffleboard.
You can get food that is twice as good, twice as much portions, for half the price elsewhere. Probably not at resort restaurants. The curry was watery, the fish was good but not outstanding.
The waitress was super sweet and attentive , but when we checked in the hostess was rude, telling us we didn’t make the reservation early enough (we just got off the plane, and booked for about an hour ahead). I understand if that was too short notice, but she could have told us in a nicer way.
Reserved a table outside for around 630 so we would see the sunset from our seats. There were a few families ahead of us to be seated so it took a minute.. not a big deal. Table was right up front, next to the pool area and with a STUNNING view of the sunset. A gentleman played guitar and sand and a woman performed traditional hula dancing. It was lovely! Service was good. Food was good.. I had the mahi mahi and my son had the kid’s short ribs. He also ordered the Mac n cheese because he was still hungry (big eater!) and it wasn’t very good. It’s not cheap, but in line with other Maui / resort prices. I also had the Maui Mule. Very good!
I was seated in a broken chair!!! If I was a heavy personI would have been flat on my bottom!
The location on the water front was good. The entertainment was also an unexpected surprise. However the food was only average. My dining companion enjoyed his meal. The overall experience was just average. The Neal cost was high.
Very nice meal with a great view and we loved the entertainment.
waiter didn't bring the bread we had to ask for it when our dinner arrived We were there for a birthday and we told him numerous times and he smiled never brought the complimentary desert instead we ordered desert and paid for it
some what disappointing
I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews about loudness, people in the pool, etc., but it was excellent - no one in the pool and an excellent ambiance. It did seem a little odd that apparently the way back to the resort from the beach is through the pool area and several people came through and also through the restaurant.....
The live entertainment was excellent and the food was very good as well. My wife had the prime rib and I had the Chicken & Veggies Teriyaki. Both were good.
Overall, this was a little bit of surprise. We went for the sunset and while overcast, still got some color, some great entertainment, and very good food. Between dances, the young lady was stringing leis and gave one to my wife which thrilled her to no end!
