Repeat good dining experience. Good service. One diner got GI problems right after dinner but nothing serious.
We have enjoyed dinner at the Royal Kyber approximately twice a year for the past five years. The quality of the food and professionalism of the servers has been consistently excellent. The menu is reasonable extensive. The Royal Kyber in our opinion is among the best Indian restaurants in Orange County is highly recommended.
We were blown away by the quality of the food at Royal Khyber, but daunted by the very slow service, although a number of waiters were sharing duties and the place was not overcrowded. We had to miss our film because the food just didn't arrive in time. We had allowed 1 1/2 hours for our meal.
So yes -- treat yourself to interesting food on an Indian theme, but be prepared to enjoy it in a LEISURELY manner.
This restaurant must be the top place for Indian food in the area, and the service and ambiance are also excellent. There are of course less expensive places for this cuisine, but for a special occasion I would certainly recommend this one.
Tonight the chicken madras was perfect! That and our waitress made this a great evening. Thank you.
We had a wonderful meal here. The ambiance and service were great. The chicken vindaloo and chicken tikka Marsala were delicious! We can’t wait to go again!
We were early in the evening having arrived from the east coast, so it was not very busy - good for quiet conversation. The service was very good and the food was excellent. We would go back if the opportunity presents.
The food is really good, far better than the other Indian restaurants we have tried. Definitely not a casual Indian buffet! The lamb shank is always a favorite, cooked 24 hrs and tender as can be. I had the mixed tandoori which was a cornucopia of spicy Indian meats cooked over their own special oven.
We've been there for birthdays and other celebrations and everyone has enjoyed it immensely!
Try it.
Absolutely fabulous experience with friends and the food was excellent . The ambience and service was outstanding . Sunil the waiter was very helpful, knowledgeable and made some great recommendations . Overall a gem
Wonderful food and service a dinning classic! Great place for a date night!
We've been dining at Royal Kyber for many years. Started when they were on Bristol Street around 20yrs ago with the great "white tent" decor and low prices with high quality. Their prices have gone up, the decor is fancier, but the food is still great, along with the service.
This was our pre-Valentine date and the first time we visited. We were greeted immediately and warmly, taken to our table immediately. The ambience was warm and inviting. The wine list included several of my favorite reds and the menu was extensive, varied and a good range of prices.
I started with the Indian Salad which was good, but similar to Arab Salad, Israeli Salad, Persian Salad, etc. My husband started with the Warm Eggplant Salad...clearly the very best eggplant I’ve ever tasted. I will be a regular, if just to have this salad. Anyone who enjoys eggplant must give this a try! Memorable!
I had the lamb chops and my husband had the Chef’s special lamb shank simmered for 14 hours. The sauce was out of this world — simply divine! My husband’s palate is discriminating and he was extremely satisfied with his choice.
The garlic naan was delicious, as expected, but the piece de resistance was the lychee panna cotta dessert. I have never tasted anything so smooth, tasty and creamy...beautiful to look at and even better to eat.
We will definitely return...frequently!
Wonderful as always
Well this was our second trip in 3 days of course we ordered the Reshmi Chicken Tikka again as I think that has become my favorite at that restaurant this time we ordered the saag paneer and mustard fish. Very good food a very highly recommended restaurant. Love it
We had gone on a short vacation to Newport Beach and we had heard a lot about Royal Khyber from friends and family. We ordered the Reshmi chicken tikka malai kofta and an Ajwaini paratha. Yum it was very delicious dishes and I started planning another visit with our niece who was coming for dinner in a couple of days. This place is very highly recommended try it
We eat all over Orange County and keep coming back to the Kyber. It is simply the best Indian food around. Service always amazing!!
This dinner was our second dining experience with Royal Khyber and we were not disappointed once again. The food is very good, service was perfect and atmosphere was warm and cozy on this New Years Eve night. We think it is the best Indian cuisine anywhere in Orange County, bar none!
Thanks to the chef and the staff at Royal Khyber!
Had a reservation on NYE. Had a flat tire on the way. Called restaurant to let them know. They held table for us! Amazing restaurant. Amazing food. We are never disappointed. The service is great. Best Indian restaurant around!
I have been going to Royal Khyber for years and have never been disappointed! The service is always outstanding and the food is always delicious.
Royal Khyber is our favorite restaurant
Overall was very flavorful. Loved the vindaloo and Panang paneer. My two kids really liked their yogurt drinks. A few of us were sick and didn’t want to be around people so we sat by the entrance door. The restaurant was able to get customers in and out fairly quickly and everyone looked satisfied. One thought though is the evening after we were all home and in bed my wife and youngest daughter were violently ill. Probably the timing and not the food. I ate leftovers and was fine but neither wife nor kid would.
As always the food was delicious but the service was neglectful. This was the first time we were not pleased with our service. Usually very attentive.
Great food
Royal Khyber is our favorite Indian restaurant hands down. Its very elegant ambiance with great service from a excellent staff that does care about the food and service. I've been coming here for over 25 years since back in the day when it was called Ghandi. I generally eat the Chicken Madras which is unlike any dish you've ever tried. You can order it mild but be ready, it has a deep rich flavor. Love it here and highly recommend.
Best Indian food I've ever had. It was excellent.
One of the best Indian restaurants in the OC. I commend the attentive wait staff for their service. In addition, the ambiance of this restaurant and the music, transports you back to India. Try the Vegetarian Thalli, Malabar Fish Curry and the Lamb Rogan Josh. Simply exquisite!
Best Indian in SoCal bar none.
Dinner at the Royal Kyber was of mixed quality. The Punjabi Samosa was outstanding, the best samosa we have ever eaten. The Butter Chicken was also excellent; flavorful but not too spicy. However the Seabass was only average. If the seabass had been better, our rating would have been five stars.
This was our regular visit to an Indian restaurant in Orange County. Considering all factors, I think Royal Khyber is the best India restaurant in OC and is reasonable in price also.
I try to make it 3-4 times a year and I love showing off that I know where the best Indian food is this side of the world.
Thank you again so much
Servings are rather small. The good ambiance, cleanliness an d excellent service help you forget about the wackiness of an Indian reaturant but in terms of food royal Khyber has nothing fancy to outstand a normal Indian reaturant except for the great variety of alcohol.
although we've not been to this indian restaurant in many years, we were remarkably pleased with the quality of the service we received. It was first class and far above what once was arrogance and inattentiveness that pervaded this restaurant in the past. Congratulations to the management and staff for making our dining experience memorable and effortless!
Oh,by the way, the food is good too...whether you're dining off the prix fixe or a la carte. The tomato bisque was sumptuous and flavorful (less so the ginger chicken broth). the Riata full flavored and the salmon special was delicate and appropriately spiced. We also had the prawn curry, which was mild and full of flavor. All in all worth a visit...though for Indian food it represents the pricing of the south coast plaza area....a bit over the top. But the service....memorable.
I took the woman I'm going with for a special occasion dinner before a concert. The food was absolutely outstanding for both of us! Excellent wine! The warm greeting and personal attention provided by the host, the owner's wife, and the servers throughout dinner were unexcelled. The superlative dinner really made our evening! This is absolutely one of my most favorite restaurants! Clearly an 11 on a 1 to 10 scale!
Dined here on a Friday night and they were out of 3 dishes we wanted to order. Party of 6 and the food came out at drastically different times. It was a disappointing experience. We have dined here before for buffet and that was great. With that being said, it is not worth going here to order off the menu.
Wonderful weekend brunch. Traditional Indian classics with a bit of an inspired twist. Great selection of warm and cold items, including desserts. Beautiful decor and quiet, elegant ambiance.
Best and most refined Indian in the OC. Impeccable sevice start to finish. Will definitely be back again.
Nothing special here. I was told this was the #1 ranked Indian Food on Orange County. I didn't find this worthy of any thing "special". Food was good, service good, nice place
Very nice environment, good food, friendly staff, one of best spots for fine dining but unfortunately very pricey.
We used the Living Social deal, which consisted of an appetizer, entrees for two, dessert and a glass of wine. We received attentive and friendly service, and we appreciated the detailed explanations of the various dishes. Everything was delicious.
The vegetables and their spices were done very well as well as chicken curries. When the restaurant tries to do veal shanks and chops, items not usually on an Indian restaurant menu, the spices fell flat. Very pleasant service.
