A local "island"traditional spot. My wife has dined here since she was a kid. Lot still the same but miss the garlic cheese bread appetizers. Very nice staff, friendly but not bothersome.

Well The Royan Hawaiian used to be a place you could go and have a reasonably priced meal and that maybe why it went out of business Now it is has reopened it isn't affordable a bowl of is soup is $10.50 maybe I'm old-fashioned but that seems pretty steep.
I ordered the salmon all a cart and I mean all a cart there was a piece of salmon about 4 to 6 ounces and that was it on top of a piece of pineapple.

The Royal Hawaiian is a Laguna beach Icon and hot spot. Food is great and authentic. Tropical cocktails outstanding and a bar crowd after work and weekends. Live music in the bar on weekends....just a fun Laguna spot with an Island flair! Love this spot

I have never posted a review on anything before but I just had to this time.If it's not broke don't fix it. Of course I don't expect it to be just like the original but come on! Most of the specialty drinks are over $15. And they are not good. I wouldn't mind the price if it didn't require me to hold my nose to drink it. Six in our party and not one of us liked their version of a tropical drink! The food was ok but way overpriced for what you get. Again, don't mind spending the cash but don't nickel and dime for every little extra thing. Four very small pieces of garlic bread $5. Really. A mixed green salad that taste like it came straight out of a bag, $13. I was happy the restaurant came back but they have ruined everything. Friday night and the place was darn near empty! In all honesty, I should have heeded the other reviews.

My wife and I love this place. It's like a bit of old Hawai'i. It feels like you're somewhere in downtown Lahaina. The food and service is excellent. I can't wait to go back!

Wonderful Tiki Bar! The drinks and food were great! We really enjoyed sitting at the bar. Our bartender was Brittany, she was great! We loved the steel drum player also. It was a really fun night out and we will be back next time when visiting Orange County.

Live music (one-person acoustic); great service; healthy, tasty food; reasonable price; and a fun atmosphere--if you haven't been back since their reopening, you owe yourself that favor! Ask to speak to to General Manager Michael; I keep telling him he needs to start doing stand-up comedy.

Food was great. Hostess tried her best, and waitress was friendly. Recieved very rude service from Brian (Bryan). Heard great things about this restaurant from coworkers (OC Weekly)- planned ahead and made reservations. We were seated 45 minutes late, and at a table- when we specifically said we would wait for a booth. Had a giftcard which we were told we could not use. I really don't complain typically, but this was one of the worst nights out that we've had in quite some time. Very disappointing because the food was really tasty.

Was excited to visit for the first time since they reopened. Our party was four for dinner. The breakdown: Appetizers - mid range. Dinner - certainly expected better. We had three burgers, ribs, and fried rice. Rice was mushy, the rest was, again, mid range. Drinks - above average. Service - again, mid range. Would go back to give them another chance, just because I have high hopes for any tiki place and hope they can do better. If not, looks like just drinks in the future on our way somewhere for dinner. I really hope they can do better!! Mahalo!

They need to work on service. We sat for a long time before someone took any part of the order and the menus were left on the table almost the entire meal. The new owners did a fantastic job putting the historical location back to its original charm. The food was decent but very overpriced for what you got. I ordered the mahi mahi and it was $33. It was fine dining prices with out the fine dining experience.

After being a local institution for 50+ years, then sadly being closed for many years, it's great to see the Royal Hawaiian back in action with a contemporary menu including vegetarian options, delicious unique cocktails, and a beautiful island atmosphere. They have a Happy Hour and evening entertainment in a fun bar area too. So we are glad they are back and hope they will find a loyal following this time around.

This place was a bit of a drive for us , but totally worth it. The French toast with macadamia nuts was great, but the Mai Tais were even better. Will definitely try for dinner soon.

So HAPPY this place reopened. We were so sad when we went by and saw closed about 2 years ago, but low and behold the neighborhood gem is back and back for good. The food is great loved the Mahi Sandwich and can't leave out the wonderful Tiki drinks. This is the 2nd time back in the last 2 months. The first time I brought a group of 6 ladies (on a tour) from Virginia, and we closed down the place with some great music and Tiki drinks. So happy the Royal Hawaiian is back.

We were so glad we checked out this Laguna Beach landmark. The atmosphere was great, food was wonderful and the drinks were amazing! Jack was a very personable and attentive server. A little expensive but for the quality of food, drink and atmosphere, I would expect to pay these prices.

Aloha!! We have been going to the Royal Hawaiian for all sorts of occasions for over 50 years. We were sad when it was sold and remodeled. Went there twice at that time and were very disappointed. It had lost all of its' charm and ambiance. Seemed very sterile and cold. Prior to its' 2nd closing, we had already pretty much given up going there. When we found out it had opened up again, we were excited and figured we should try it one more time. Glad we did. The food is great, the staff is awesome and the service was excellent. We plan on going there for our small wedding reception after our ceremony at the Gazebo in Heisler Park. While it will never have the old charm and ambiance as we remember, they have brought back some of it. Extremely pleased with what they have done!!! Highly recommend for special occasions or just a wonderful meal out!!! Gotta love those Lapu Lapu's!!! Mahalo!!

Usually go there for the fun in the bar. However, this place has been turned into a great place to eat! Micheal the new manager. has brought on a lot of new people that love what they are doing. Having fun while doing their job. So refreshing to see in a tourist town. The food was fabulous. The drinks are spot on delicious. Definitely will be back.

When we checked in, the hostess thought we wanted bar seating but I'd (obviously) reserved restaurant seating for my 15-year-old's birthday dinner. Then it was a bit of a wait for drinks, waters and ordering. However, the manager that was filling in as a server saved the day by being funny and attentive. The food didn't all show up on time or as ordered, but we had fun and enjoyed the restaurant (which my husband had been to a million times from his youth to adult life). The whole family was happy to experience this historical gem. Three of our party ate the ribs and absolutely raved about them. All in all, it was a great night and everyone would go back again.
