Royal Exchange Ratings and Reviews
I've passed this place many times, and have had drinks here on more than one St. Patrick's Day. This time I went with a girlfriend and we had a nice bite and bottomless iced teas. We both enjoyed the Taco Tuesday offerings and a huge plate of amazing french fries! The tacos were flavorful and well-appointed. The shrimp was my personal favorite, with succulent shrimp, but could have used a few more shrimp. The pork was a tad bit dry but very vibrantly seasoned. Our server, Octavio, was excellent, friendly and very welcoming. He insisted (with a huge smile on his face!) that we return soon, which we will. I plan on making this a regular stop each time I head to SF.
Took a good friend for late lunch...2 p.m.
Place largely empty...quiet. Wonderful service.
Very good salmon platter...variety of grilled veggies
They put a candle in birthday mousse and our
waiter (a honey) even sang with me!
Check it out.
An informal business lunch. Half of us had burger, and the other half pasta - which was the special dish of the day. I am pleased I chose the pasta. It was creamy, with plenty of bacon, shrimps and asparagus - an unusual but very nice combination. My colleagues who chose the burger were not as pleased with their dish, and I must admit I have seen burgers servede with nicer extras elsewhere. The meat looked good though. Service was great. The Royal Exchange is a really good option for lunch in the business district.
The waiter polietly(and without being asked) split an entree my friends were sharing, we were seated quickly and served immediatly. However, I disliked that we weren't allowed to make a reservation at noon (presumably because they're too busy to accept reservations at that time) And we were "repremanded" for trying to pay with any more than 3 credit cards (our table of 6 asked to split the bill evenly between all of us-we weren't even picky enough to ask the the salmon go on MY card and the salad on another). All in all, it was a 50/50 experience, most of the good was offset by most of the bad!
The only bad part was the hostess who was very rude to our party due to the fact that not all 12 of us showed up at the exact same time. The back room was perfect and our server was excellent. The bill was pretty outrageous, but as it was a successful game one of the world series we were all a little too intoxicated to know if it was incorrect.
I love Royal Exchange. I love it so much that I go, sometimes, twice a week. The food is deelish. They have a great happy hour menu and service is great. Staff is fun and very tentative. Awesome spot to watch sports as well. My friends and I enjoy meeting at Royal Exchange. It is our favorite stomping ground.
Royal Exchange is a great place to go for lunch in the financial district when you want to do something special with your friends. If you make a reservation on Open Table you will have one of their back booths waiting when you get there. Their menu has a wide selection of salads, sandwiches and entrees. My favorites are their black & blue salad with steak and blue cheese and their hamburger.
