As usual everything was very good. Service was excellent. Christine was great.
Most amazing burger and love their fries. Got the mussels this time - really great flavors. The actual mussels were extremely large so some were too big a mouthful for me, but that with the fries were a great meal!
This was a delicious well paced lunch and a very charming restaurant.
The service was very timely and everyone we spoke to was very polite. The food was outstanding and was exactly what we were in the mood for today. 12 out of 10, would recommend.
We were there on a very busy Saturday night. Our server seemed overwhelmed, and was snippy and inattentive at times. I ordered the duck frites. The meat was tougher than I liked. However, the seafood is outstanding, and the wine menu is sure to please everyone. I will certainly be back for happy hour.
Love the raw bar . Oysters were delicious. Food was excellent. My duck and hand cut french fries, was excellent. Set up the bar had great cocktails the bartenders were upbeat and knowledgeable. They have a very nice menu
Service was slow, drinks were not great and the food was underwhelming.
Incredible house-made charcuterie. The best mortadella I've had outside of Italy. Our waiter was attentive and congenial, and surprised us with a lovely salad because "you're the nicest customers in the house!" Very sweet. Wine list could have a little more depth, but overall serviceable. We tasted from every part of the menu except desserts and were really happy with every dish. Highly recommended!
Food and drinks were excellent. Our server was very nice and the food came out quickly. My only complaint was the hostess did not greet us when we arrived, but stared at us waiting for me to say something. It’s only a small complaint, but it was not the warm reception we’ve had in the past.
Superb sauce on trout cooked to perfection!
A beautiful space with excellent food (and simply amazing bread, by the way) . . . My wife and I sat at the bar for dinner, and it was great! . . . excellent wine selections and delicious cassoulet . . . and we particularly enjoyed Rebecca's friendliness and delightful energy.
Excellent service and food!
When you walk in the place seems to have been there for 50 years, the dark wood and all the settings, the mood lighting and the easy flow of service.
The food is superb - a relaxed casual version of Laurel - all the quality is there!
Service was impeccable.
Drinks fascinating, wines very thoughtful and unusual.
I can't wait to go back and bring other friends and family who I know will love it!!
It was good! The food was tasty and well prepared but the flavors didn’t wow us. However, it was a solid meal and the service was very professional and tentative. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back but I wouldn’t say no to an invite to eat there 🥰
Great burger. Soso Bloody Mary. Will be back for the burger again. We wish the Champaign selection was a little wider and better quality.
The food was good but the service added to the experience greatly. The ambiance was wonderful and although there was a lively group nearby at the bar, we could hear ourselves and our waiter.
Great Value, Great Food. Waiter was knowledgeable and friendly.
Great food great drinks...fabulous experience
We waited quite awhile to be served a cocktail at the bar, but once we were served it was great. When we weee seated for dinner, I found the service to be very attentive without being obnoxious. The manager (or hostess?) was particularly on point. Her customer service skills are exemplary. I would definitely return for another French 52 and delicious burger. The space is casual and very loud, but that’s what a bistro should be! We will be back!
Excellent food, but too dark, too noisy, tables crammed too close together.
This restaurant is amazing. I got the burger....which I have gotten before. It is one of the best burgers in the city. The charcuterie board was also outstanding. Highly recommend. 👍🏻👍🏻
The service is wonderful; the restaurant cozy and interesting--and there's great potential there. I'd try it again. The escargot was delicious but my duck was overcooked. I left thinking this is a respectable 8 on a scale of 10. Not quite a 10. But it may have been me. Worth trying.
Server was very sweet and ambiance was exactly what I was looking for! Duck was a little over cooked for my presence but all else was very delicious as well as appetizers! Dessert was also scrumptious!
Food was good --just not great. Typical French fare. The only deviation was an Indian take on the broth for the mussels. Not sure why this restaurant makes the top lists fir Philly.
the scallops were fabulous. the duck & frites was nice. great portions.
Shrimp cocktail, escargot, trout. Very good; not exceptional. Very good cocktails and wine. Liked the ambience very much. Will go back.
One of the best brunches we have had in Philadelphia. Drinks and food were excellent. We will definitely be going back soon. Highly recommend!
Great spot. Wonderful service and creative fare. Will definitely return
RB was excellent. This was our third time dining with them, this time for my wife’s birthday. We went during brunch and had a great one feasting on the seafood tower, charcuterie board, and many cocktails. It was a great way to start the day and the wait staff were very attentive and nice. Never felt rushed and food order was well spaced.
Great spot , food and service. Loved it.
EXCELLENT FRENCH BISTRO FOOD AND ENVIRONMENT LOCATED IN HISTORIC OLD CITY SECTION OF PHILADELPHIA
We love dining at Royal because it's the space that first sets the tone. Exposed original brick and flooring, dating back to the building's origin. Earlier is quieter for dinner before the after work crowd starts coming in and the bar gets filled up. There is a dining room upstairs and a patio in season. All of the dishes we sampled this night were outstanding. From Pork stuffed olives, to PEI oysters, to escargot, to the Steelhead Trout, and the 72 hour Short Rib. Cocktails, both the Happy Hour offering, and one of Royal's current staples on the cocktail menu, did not disappoint. We sat at one of the two tables at the window, so before darkness set in, there was people watching too. Great place in Old City.
Overall, nice restaurant. Possibly the best burger I've had in my life. Great drink list as well.
Great spot for a night out with friends or a date.
Fantastic lunch. The shrimp salad sandwich was excellent.
Great service, great food....I felt like I was back in Paris! Cocktails are fab as well👍🏻
Friday nights are busy in Philadelphia and we had a five person table so the experience was different from previous visits. For the most part the food was excellent--the oysters were fabulous--but one dish did arrive lukewarm and it was a dinner special so it should have been automatic that steak and potatoes are eaten warm if not hot. Service was a little off but for a Friday it was still professional.
I had high hopes but we went for a business lunch and service was slow. Took 40 minutes to get us lunch. Sandwiches came we all got the Jamon, my bread was burnt and overall just not a good sandwich. I did think fries were the bonus but ultimately not great experience for what was a positive business meeting.
