Truly, a fine dining experience, unequaled ANYWHERE in the southeast. Pricey, but worth it!.
I had the sea bass and the kale salad and loved them. My husband was well pleased with his steak. The bread and amuse bouche were great. Our friends both ordered the meatball and found it too heavy, spicy...but they loved the truffled polenta served with it. The service was excellent and they gave us a seat by the fireplace which was perfect for a cold and blustery evening.
My husband and I dined recently at Rowland's to celebrate our anniversary. When we arrived, our table was sprinkled with red rose petals and had a card from the restaurant thanking us for choosing Rowland's for our special occasion. The food was creative as well as delicious. The service could not have been more welcoming. The restaurant and inn are located in the 100-year old mansion of North Carolina artist Elliott Daingerfield, and the view is amazing. Roland's is adjoined by the Westglow Spa, named #1 destination spa for 2017 by Travel & Leisure. All in all, this is a very special place.
Loved it, really
Best Ever Anywhere!
As always, wonderful experience from the cocktails to the meal and especially the chocolate finale. Thanks for making my Mother’s 75th Birthday so special.
We dined at Rowland's based on a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed. The staff, ambiance, menu, drinks and our food was all excellent. By far the bast dinner during our stay in Blowing Rock. I would highly recommend Rowland's to anyone who enjoys fine food.
Have been here several times before and service was always great. This time not so great, not sure if she was new, but she was very inattentive. Food and ambience was great as always.
I love this restaurant so much! Not only for the incredible setting but the new chef Dustin hit several culinary homeruns ! I highly recommend Rowland’s!
Great Food .... service slow since not crowded at all ....enjoyed a table side visit with Chef .... really good dinner
Lovely place for dinner. Our server Tyler was excellent. Food was fabulous. Will come again.
Everything was outstanding from the valet parking through the dessert! Our waiter, Austin was attentive, answered our questions and made some outstanding recommendations. Make sure you save room for dessert--apple crisp and the chocolate cookie were our choices! The restaurant itself is beautiful!!
I really wanted to love this place. The location and restaurant both are just a tad off from great...it’s this little things... attention to detail, knowledgeable wait staff, that cause this place to miss its mark!
Magnificent setting, elegant ambiance, impeccable service.
I am a world traveler (and old so I have been everywhere). I must say that starting with a glass of fine champagne on the classic veranda with open Blue Ridge views before you ranks among my Top 10 settings.
Yummy food - cooked perfectly with delicate yet proper seasonings, and presented with artistic flair. Creative appetizers, with our choices outstanding (tomatoes, pork belly). Entrées were more conventional - certainly gourmet yet just short of exciting a foodie. Because of that, I rated food 4 stars given "4 1/2" was not available. Maybe I was spoiled by everything else being perfect.
Can not summarize it better than "we will return."
My husband and another couple had dinner here on Saturday evening. The service and ambiance was wonderful. The chef needs some help. My homemade noodles stuck together like glue. Three of us had caesar salads which were presented beautifully but only a small amount of dressing and store bought croutons This is a relais et chateau. The croutons need to be hand done not out of the box; the salad needs more dressing--not just lettuce with 1 Tablespoon on the plate--the spa salmon does not need so many vegetables. We were all disappointed with the meal. I am so sorry to say this but we expected a better dinner.
Food and ambience are way above average. Truly amazing. The service needs to be up to the level of the food and atmosphere, particularly for the price of the food.
We were there on a Monday: it must be difficult to maintain intensity 7 days a week. Owners/managers of successful businesses develop programs to insure maintainence of high levels of service to patrons. At all levels in the business there should be the clear understanding that the restaurant business is very competitive.
When we arrived for a reservation, our table was not ready. We were sent to the bar in the meantime but there was no bartender in the bar. After waiting at least 15 minutes we are taking to our table. Service was poor throughout the evening . They had ran out of at least 3-4 things on the menu. A very pricey place for the service received.
Sunday brunch, after church. If you see my Westglow Spa reviews you will see excellent. Rowland’s brunch was a less than positive meal. Grits were cold - the butter would not melt into them. A side portion of French Toast was also cool enough the butter would not melt. Eggs Benedict was offered w ham- whoops, out of ham. Service was very slow. It was the kitchen’s issue, not our server’s. Ambiance is lovely - it’s a shame.
The setting is beautiful, the staff is excellent, and the food is very, very good. Because the table was ours for the evening, we were able to start with drinks on the outdoor veranda watching the sun set over the Blue Ridge. The dining room was located within the beautifully appointed 100 year old mansion, and the seating was elegantly understated. Our waitress was a good combination of attentive and unobtrusive. All within our party of 4 thoroughly enjoyed dinner and dessert. For a lovely dining experience, I would definitely recommend Rowland's.
the location and views are wonderful in these mts...the service was excellent however the food for both my wife and I came out cold the presentation was lovely and they took our dinners back and replaced them with a newly cooked dinner(not just warmed) they came to us after the meal with a check that removed the price of the entrees they requested we pay for the drinks, appetizers, etc but did not want to honor the $20 point redemption, which I did not dispute....I would recommend the restaurant to friends but unfortunately we were just visiting 700 miles away from our home in florida and will not be able to return in the near future
This is an awesome restaurant. Every element of this dining experience is special. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious. We also capped off the experience by going out on the front porch and enjoying "glow time" which is the beautiful sunset over the mountains. I look forward to returning.
This was an outstanding experience. Ambiance was absolutely delightful; we shared a glass of wine on the beautiful grounds before seating for dinner.
The service was excellent as was our meal. The restaurant and the views are stunning. My wife and I wondered why we had never eaten here before. We had brunch and walked out on the veranda and enjoyed the views afterwards.
Beautiful setting, high expectations which fell really short. Service was way too chummy for the price and setting. Food was a big disappointment, filet was way overcooked after clarifying with the server what temp we were talking about. First course was also a disappointment, mushroom tart was really dry, not as described. My wife's pork tenderloin was cooked and presented well. For the price, it was at best fair. They need to review their food quality and cooking process.
We enjoyed the time we spent at Rowland's , the building was interesting and the food and service was great . We will teturn the next time we are in the area!
Wedding anniversary celebration for our friends. We all were impressed with our food and the ambiance of the restaurant. Built in the early 1900's and last remodeled in 2005, a lot of the original character of the building is still there. Great place for special occasions and a romantic evening.
This is a wonderful venue but the service was painful. It was not the fault of tbe server as there did not appear to be many diners on the building.
By the time the entree was served i had forgotten what i had for a first course. Like most things in life, timing and rhythem are the keys to a plrasant experience. You can only live on your reputation for so long.
Been to Rowland's for a group luncheon, Mother's Day Brunch and Sunday Brunch. Brunch prices very reasonable and food was delicious.
Cocktail prices a little high. Will be back.
It was our first visit for brunch. it was excellent and a very nice way to enjoy a Sunday brunch.
Exceptional world class food with spectacular views in elegant setting. Be sure to ask for Sandy, a terrific server with bubbly personality who will definitely help make your dining experience a lot more enjoyable!!
Beautiful setting, presentation and food.
The location, scenery and atmosphere was wonderful. The restaurant has a porch where you can enjoy the sunset and cocktails. The food and service was exceptional. Fabulous restaurant! We will return!
Unique presentation and perfect preparation makes Rowland's a dining experience, not just a meal. This is a personalized resort treat not to be missed on a visit to Boone, NC. The converted mansion and grounds elevate the spirit and expand the appreciation of the better side of mountain life. If price is no object, this is the best of Boone.
Absolutely beautiful view and ambience. The food was delicious and the presentation breath taking. The polenta fries are incredible. Our server, Carl, was excellent. His suggestions and descriptions were perfect. My only complaint was no one in our party saved room for dessert.
Unbelievably wonderful! The food was outstanding, as was the service and the setting. It easily exceeded our expectations. We look forward to our next visit.
WOW! I booked this restaurant for friends that were coming to visit Boone. They were first time visitors to our home. First of all, I chose it because it was open on a Monday evening and that alone is a rare thing here in our part of the mountains. Then, it also had wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor and Open Table. There are some spectacular restaurants in our area and I was hoping this would be one of them. It is! Not only did we have a cozy table for four in the library but the hostess gave us the history of the resort. Dinner was almost ready to be served when we were invited to witness the sunset behind the mountains. They held our dinner while we basked in the glow of the setting sun. The food was spectacular. I had the NC snapper and my husband had the capon and one of our guests had the pork. We splurged and had dessert too. I had the lemon tart special and my husband had the chocolate cake and milk. This was a very special evening. We all left feeling quite sated, both in body and spirit.
This place is fabulous. Great atmosphere in a unique setting (we dined in the library). Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Although it's a very high-end restaurant, it's still fairly casual and definitely welcoming. The food is fantastically prepared.
Fantastic dinner in a lovely setting - amuse bouche was incredible (would have loved an entire platter of those little morsels for my dinner!) My husband had melt in your mouth bison and I had lamb. Dessert was perfect, service was exceptional (Erin) and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal on the pretty porch. Would definitely return. Yum.
