One of the best fine dining restaurants in the area. Never disappoints. Had the duck and lamb, wonderful. Menu varies.
Great place for a special occasion or a romantic dinner. Arrive just before sunset and have a drink on the back porch to watch the sun setting.
Been there three years in a row for anniversary. Menu limited and hasn’t changed, limited deserts there were three couples there and they ran out of the lemon tart and no one I saw had ordered it?
The special was incredible. What a great place to go for a special occasion. Everything was exceptional.
Extremely disappointed with New Years Eve.
I have eaten there many times and food was always first class. Our group all got different dishes and none were anywhere close to past! We chose Rowland’s even though we had to take a 5pm reservation due to bookings - so disappointed!!!
My wife took me there for my Birthday, it was lovely and we felt welcome and relaxed. We started in the sitting room and had a glass of wine before moving to our table. Felt European style dining. No rush, the table is yours all night. We both loved and appreciated that. Excelente wine selection. Staff manager was professional and offer great recommendations with wine list. Overall we truly enjoyed our time at the Rowland’s restaurant on Dec 23rd 2018 one gem in NC.
Only issue is with signage. We were there on a very dark night & it was very, very difficult to find the entrance & even harder to find the exit—dangerous situation here!
We had a wonderful family dinner here. We were able to catch a beautiful sunset before enjoying handcrafted cocktails in front of a cozy fire. The menu and food was outstanding. Wonderful service from the entire staff - especially Todd and Kara. Would definitely recommend for that special occasion.
My mom, best friend and me decided to treat ourselves to a fine dining experience at the renowned Westglow Spa’s eatery Rowland’s. Here is our experience: I made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner on Open Table more than a month prior. The menu wasn’t posted at the time and we were hoping it would be the seasonal menu. They finally posted it online and it was traditional. Very traditional. Okay. At a restaurant of this caliber I did not expect a buffet. I didn’t see that any where on their website but, I may have missed it. I’m not usually a fan of buffet because my mom is 83 and it means I have to make a plate for and guess what she might like. Luckily, (or not) there weren’t very many options s. And nothing creative or chef-y interpretations. A cafeteria style-large chafing dish-luke warm-dry as sawdust buffet. When we got there there was three pieces of white meat that had been under the hot light for lord knows how long. It looked (and subsequently tasted) like shoe leather. There were some bright spots. The mushroom dressing and corn pudding were delicious. The gravy was also delicious. Everything however, was under seasoned.
After our first pour of wine, the server never poured again. She was quick to remove our plates when we went back for desert (pie was the only option; pumpkin, pecan and apple) (and no ice cream available) she took our silverware but, never came back with more and she disappeared for 20 minutes! I had to track down the silverware and bring it back to the table. I don’t know about you but, I just don’t think I should have to put up with any of this for $75 buffet plus wine. We were all super disappointed.
Excellent food and service
We celebrated a birthday and an anniversary. Everything was perfect!
What a fabulous find in Blowing Rock! The food, the service, the ambience were all outstanding! Our server, Lucy, was charming and delightful and truly added to our overall experience. We will definitely return!
Excellent service and food.
The best lamb I have ever eaten! Exceptional service and delicious food in a gorgeous location.
Amazing experience all overall!!! In addition to the spectacular views outside, the ambiance and food inside left us wanting to come back for more. We will definitely be back!!
Rowlands at West Glow is a quiet beautiful setting with excellent food and service. It is elegant but unpretentious with a very friendly staff.
Great food and incredible service. Highly recommend!
I was very disappointed with their dining experience. My meal which I would rate as poor was the miso Seabass with the forbidden rice and bok choy. There was absolutely no seasoning on the rice or the bok choy. For $45 you expect your meal to at least have some taste and the limited amount of the portion was sad. I guess they bank on the fact that you would use the different salts that are at the table but that is absolutely ridiculous. It was our 30th anniversary and they knew that upon the reservation being made and we were seated at a table on the enclosed patio with everybody and their brother was seated in there and voices carried horribly. There was a table with 3 ladies that had very loud voices. Very dissatisfied with our meal.
Amazing, must have experience!
Best brunch in the High Country!
We have dined here several times now and love it! It is one of our favorites.
We requested a table on the patio and were able to experience the true “westglow.” Beautiful setting. Food was lovely as was the wine.
Excellent; very enjoyable experience. Looking forward to another Sunday brunch there.
For the setting, the decor, and the prices, Rowland's gives the impression of being a special dining experience. Unfortunately, it doesn't deliver. Our dishes, from appetizers to entrees lacked flavor, and in one case, a rack of lamb, was undercooked and heavily salted. Overall, a disappointing dining experience.
Everything was terrific. The best restaurant in the high country—Without equal.
Everything was perfect! Gary dies an amazing job managing everyone’s special needs!
Staff is very friendly and accommodating. They let you enjoy the evening at your own pace. Food is beautifully prepared and presented. Must stay for "glow time" ... watch the sun go down behind the mountains from the patio.
Great as always one of my favorite places to eat anywhere!
There were eight of us for a friends get together. Great food and service. Highly recommend.
Great, romantic dining experience during our visit to Westglow. Ambiance is sublime and dining in the sunroom area (which we did) was very peaceful. When it was time for sunset, our server informed us and told us we could get up to watch it from the west porch with drinks in hand and return to the table at our leisure (as it was ours for the night). Can't wait to return to Westglow and enjoy another dinner here.
Second time at Rowland's. We went there to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. Service was excellent from the host to our waiter. We had the Surf and Turf special and a rack of lamb. For dessert we had the lemon tart. Everything was superb!
Incredible food in the most gorgeous setting ever! You can watch the sun set over the mountains from the front porch of this immaculately restored historic home. The dining room is beautiful, intimate and romantic with fine linens, china and silver. The food is delicious - we had the sea bass and the lamb - both prepared perfectly. The service was very professional and attentive.
Overall a nice experience. My steak was tough and not juicy and very pricy. I should have sent it back. The other parties in my group were satisfied with the food. I would return for a special occasion. Ambiance is great but we couldn’t sit outside for a drink as there were only 2 tables and they were taken.
We enjoyed a relaxed, unhurried dinner of excellent food and had outstanding service!
We had a great dinner. The trout and the duck were delicious! We topped it off with strawberry shortcake.
The restaurant is on such a beautiful site and the inside is just magnificent.
We went for a most elegant Brunch.
Everything was perfect. A wonderful way to spend a late, relaxing Sunday morning.
Setting , service and ambience was outstanding. Excellent wine list .... food was very good with excellent presentation .
Overall package is a compelling value ... will definitely return on our next visit to Blowing Rock.
This was our third time at the restaurant in the service by far was the worst. Water was never refilled plates were left on the table for extended period of time and even the balsamic and oil to dip the bread in was very poorly done. Way too much vinegar. There are a lot of good restaurants in Blowing Rock and I’m not sure we will be back
We began our visit watching the sun set on the back porch with a glass of wine. Dinner was then inside in the sun room. The food and serve were first rate as usual. The wine list is superb.
