Restaurant was closed, we had to go looking for a place for our guests
I'd review for the setting, but the service has always been poor when I've gone to this restaurant. It seems like they need a manager or something. Not very organized.
I researched places to take my daughter for her 16th Birthday, made a reservation here thinking it would be a special lunch for us and was so disappointed when we were told that the dining room wasn’t open when we arrived. I don’t understand why I was able to make a reservation online if you weren’t serving people? I guess I should have called to confirm. Not excited to try again as a result of this experience.
Horrible service, served burnt food, no clean glasses for beverages, no orange juice for brunch, no brunch drink menus...the list could go on and on. Had to use our phones to look up menus on their website while we were at the restaurant.
Waited for over a half an hour for coffee and server never even took our order. Service was horrible and they weren’t even busy.
My wife and I were excited to try Rowhouse for brunch. We had only had a private event (birthday party) there earlier this year and were happy with the experience then. So, we wanted to try it out on our own. What a disappointing dining experience. We were "greeted" by a very lackluster host who looked annoyed to have to seat us after handing us our menus to carry ourselves (kind of strange) to the table. After being seated upstairs we waited 15 minutes before ANYONE came over to take a drink order. This first impression was the theme that continued on. After the 15 minutes of waiting, a server came over and asked us if anyone had been over to take our orders. We said, "no" and then he took our drink order. Another 10 minutes passed before he brought our drinks (which were really good; nice cold mimosas). He was not apologetic at all and seemed very flustered even though the place was NOT BUSY. I ordered a basic breakfast plate with over-easy eggs, bacon, sausage, hash, and toast, which also was very good. My wife ordered a breakfast pizza that she really liked too. BUT, my food came out first. Then, (no exaggeration here...) my wife's food came out 20 minutes later. All the while, our server never came over to apologize or explain the situation. he just avoided our table. I had drunk all my water and the glass remained empty for the next 20 minutes until we left. We order 2 more mimosas before the pizza arrived, which took another 10 minutes to arrive at our table. My food by then was cold.
At the end, another server (not ours) came over and apologized for the extreme delay in getting the pizza and comped our drinks. This was very nice but could have been avoided completely. Sadly I would not go back because the lazy service of most of the staff members. We continued to get the impression that few staff members even cared to move faster to provide good service. My wife and I are very patient people but this was too much even for us.
They were out of half the menu. We sat and the waitress came over to let us know that they were out of all pizzas, all of their bowls and practically all of their juices and smoothies. I told them that I was vegan and the only reason I picked this please was because of the pizza and that they really didn't have any other vegan options, so she went down to the kitchen and returned saying no problem they can do pizzas for me. Not sure what that was about. They still didn't have items that my friends wanted so we decided to leave and go to Betty's. We went for a Saturday Brunch. It looks like brunch may not be their forte. I imagine they would be better for dinner. Venue was beautiful
We loved the ambience. The food was terrific and wait staff was courteous and attentive.
Food was good overall, albeit pricey. service was good.
The toast is terrible and a terrible value. 1 piece of stale toast for $3. It’s pre-sliced and allowed to become stale prior to toasting. I honestly can’t believe they serve it. The server tried to pass it off as “crusty”. Crusty bready is still supposed to be soft inside. While they did bring an untoasted piece, which is how I discovered it was stale - and a biscuit...they had the audacity to charge for both the original toast and the replacement.
The juices are amazing. The pizzas are fantastic. The pastries are delicious.
Our server was great. The food was mediocre at best. The avocados were awful tasteless & stringy. The cheddar chive scones aren’t what they used to be. Very bland. Got some juice to go and it took forever and was very disorganized not to mention she tried over charging us. This was our 2nd attempt to give Rowhouse another try in the past 2 months only to be disappointed again. It’s changed since summer of 2018. Won’t be going back for a long time.
Went to RowHouse for brunch with my kids to celebrate Father's Day - - the new menu is outstanding and the food was excellent. The biscuits, eggs and gravy was original and my son loved it. Banana and berry french toast was delicious, and the prosciutto on the breakfast pizza was like the kind served in Italy (and the crust is amazing too).
Excellent all around. Good ambience (the interior is a must-see!), great views of Delaware Avenue, and efficient, friendly service. Food was affordable and creatively prepared; the vegan burger was a particular highlight.
the menu that was provided as opposed to the menu online and from previous visits were completely different. the menu had very limited options so we enjoyed a drink and then left.
We have eaten here before for breakfast and really enjoyed it, but unfortunately this was not the case on this last occasion. After someone finally showed up to take our order, we waited over at least an hour and a half for our food to arrive. In fact, we waited a very long time for everything. When we finally got our bill, we had been overcharged for sides of food that were part of the standard descriptions on the menu. In addition no one seemed aware of or even acknowledged the lack of good service. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but we have decided to go elsewhere the next time we have breakfast in Buffalo.
Bar area closed for private party and loud. Out of food and beverage items and the smell of wood from oven was strong. Menu limited.
What a great place!
Our food was amazing, the building and decor are absolutely stunning. The manager stopped by at the end of the meal to make sure my guest and I were satisfied with everything. Only comment is that our waitress, although very efficient and accurate in terms of our order and timing, did not smile once the entire night.
This place is supremely overpriced. $90 for my mother and I for Mother's Day brunch is just ridiculous in Buffalo. Two of us got the buffet (which really you can only eat one plate of), my mom got ONE free mimosa (free to moms only) and one additional, I got a latte. = $90 plus tip. I've lived in New York for the past 15 years and even I think this was a total rip off. The food was fine, but buffet food is never amazing.
We had an amazing Mother’s Day brunch here. The food was excellent; there was a buffet with many options and everything was top notch. They even sent us home with extra pastries leftover from the brunch. It was a lovely atmosphere and we really enjoyed our esperien. We will definitely be back.
I had been so looking forward to a dining experience at The Rowhouse. When I checked the website and menu for Sunday brunch, I noticed 11 - 2 and a lovely menu I was truly anticipating. However, arrived Mother’s Day to learn it was a buffet brunch. Was not aware and was not expecting to not be able to order from the menu. Nothing on the website noted an all you can eat buffet option only. I was very disappointed to not be able to try the menu listed on the website. Also $32 per person was not a good value considering no Mother’s Day brunch cocktails (even mimosas) were included! And, our waitress didn’t even know if the Rose wine was dry or sweet. She was certainly nice but also made a mistake and charged us for 6 people for brunch instead of 3 (which I certainly caught and had her fix). Not sure if I’ll ever try again as I’m not sure what “Saturday + Sunday brunch at Rowhouse” on the website even means??? Do you normally serve breakfast menus items during brunch time except for Sunday holidays???
Food on brunch buffet was completely cold. It was also completely boring and uncreative. Pastries were good, not great. For the price, there should have been an omelette station, or at least freshly made waffles or pancakes. Those items were not even on the buffet. Beautiful place, such a shame they can’t get the rest right.
I’ve been there before and liked it very much. The service was very mediocre Saturday night. It did not appear to be very busy so I’m not sure what that was about. I ordered the Porkchop off the menu which was delicious but bloodier than medium...the restaurant itself is lovely however and I’ve had good experiences there in the past so I do recommend it.
There were a few noisy people at the bar which made it unpleasant for some in our dining party.
I have had a good meal in the past. This was the first day of a new menu. One half chicken was under cooked. The strip steak was a poor cut of meat for the price. They were not able to bring all meals out at once. All other meals were tasty. If unsure, I would stick with the pizzas. They were apologetic and gave complimentary bottle of wine and desserts.
Hopefully they work things out.
I have visited this establishment on multiple occasions for the environment and unique architecture. However, each and every visit has been disappointing regarding the food... including my most recent visit.
Time of day: Lunch
Party: 5 - very few patrons at time of visit
Beef on weck - not as advertised; it was a salty sloppy Joe with a dabble of horseradish
Caprese sandwich with chicken - dry (bread and chicken), no flavor, did not seem fresh at all
Chicken panini - dry chicken, over toasted, meager filling to bread ratio
Side salads (entire table) - wrong dressing on 2 salads; presentation non existent (looked like someone reached into a spring mix bag)
Service: waitress was nice, however, waters never refilled, never asked how the table was doing; returned to table multiple times because she made mistakes with the menu as well as items not being available and requiring changes/substitutions.
At this point I am unlikely to return or recommend.
The restaurant was overwhelmed with only a few tables to serve. Our server didn’t know the menu, our food was cold and took forever.
My son recommended Rowhouse to us, and we took two other couples with us for brunch on Sunday. We were all enamored the minute we walked in the door - and our experience only got better from there! We found the menu appealing - and ordered 5 different items between us - all of which were excellent. We also shared a couple of baked goods, which were delicious as well. The prices were very reasonable and the service was great. What more could you ask for? We'll definitely be returning!
They weren’t even open despite our reservation!
We made reservations because the restaurant is across the street from our hotel. They were closed when we got there, with a small sign saying they would not be serving that night. Luckily, we were able to get a table at a place I used to frequent around the corner. Inexcusable!
Food selection was eclectic yet tasty. Variety for everyone. Great ambiance.
Very interesting brunch menu. We had the French toast and the market hash and both were wonderful. Fresh squeezed juices were a delight and be sure and stop at the bakery on your way out for a croissant (or three)!!
Waiter was ill informed and inattentive. He did not go over what was unavailable from menu. Had to ask for beverage menu. Was told upon ordering breakfast 1 choice was not available. Was then told the french toast did not have apple but had berry compote, it came with apple. I ordered brunch burger. Description states lettuce and hollandaise but when it came was missing both. I asked for the sauce as the burger was burnt and overly dry only to be told they didnt have hollandaise today. I'd expect to be told that upon ordering or to have the sauce made. It's not a difficult sauce to make. The bun was clearly old and we expressed our distaste for the food but no attempt to correct was made. This was an extremely disappointing brunch. We had such high hopes as the venue is gorgeous and the menu concept sounds amazing. Execution was pitiful.
Wonderful food, friends and ambience. The service was outstanding and the menu had some delicious choices. Dessert was equally delicious. We especially love the old architecture of the Rowhouse Bakery and Restaurant. We will go again soon.
Food was terrible and extremely overpriced. Go somewhere else.
We love Rowhouse Bakery and Restaurant. I was confuse by the Open Table app, because is did not have updated information about Easter Brunch. There was the regular menu rather than a buffet that the app indicated. The food and drinks were delicious. However, the server was very distracted (and the place was not that busy). She forgot our order, brought us the wrong drinks and food, and almost gave my credit card to a different table. We'll go back, but I expect better service.
Disappointing. We attended Sunday brunch and looked forward to a nice meal. When we were poured coffee, there were no spoons in our napkin roll; only a fork and knife. Coffee was very strong and bitter. I ordered “The Plate” at $15 and my eggs were undercooked, grits were cold and clumpy, greens were just warm and the biscuit was ok. I chose not to send it back. Short rib hash was just ok. However, smoked salmon on avocado toast was very good. Orange juice and sun juice were flavorful. Bill with tip was $90. We stopped at the bakery for a few goods to take home, but we won’t be back.
Great food and excellent service. The building was beautiful and I feel like I could go back there many more times to try different things.
I made reservations well in advance for what I thought was an Easter Brunch Buffet. When we arrived, we were seated immediately by a very friendly hostess and greated by a wonderful waiter. We were handed a menu (which was strange for a brunch buffet). I went and asked the hostess about the buffet and was told the chef quit 3 weeks ago and they did not have time to organize the buffet in time (strange again as the menu was probably already decided by that time). Ok, well that sucked as we were really looked forward to a brunch buffet. I was also confused that I was told it was all over social media that they were not having the buffet...I can tell you, it was not on Facebook or Instagram, nor was it on their website. A heads up call would have been great. I made reservations through Open Table, so they should have had all my info. Disappointed, we decided to have brunch since we were there. I ordered the very overpriced French Toast (it was 1 slice of bread with apples and chantilly cream) and freshed squeezed orange juice which was very flavorful. My 2 companions ordered the Plate (2 eggs anyway, bacon, greens, grits, biscuit) the scrambled eggs were cold, the greens were some sort of pickled green stuff, the grits were lumpy and the biscuit was undercooked. All-in-all, we did not have a good experience. On the way out, I did buy a box full of wonderful baked goods to take home
We had a surprise bridal shower at this restaurant. Our server was very kind all the time and we loved the white pizza (with calzone?) the most! The room on the second floor by itself gave a very cozy and pretty environment for us to take a photo. Thank you!
The restaurant space is beautiful! The food, however, was a letdown. I'm not a picky person, but my brunch entree (roasted veggies w/ braised short ribs, poached eggs & hollandaise) first came out with no meat or hollandaise sauce, and the eggs were hard. The server brought it back to the kitchen and they quickly replaced the eggs with nicely cooked soft yolks & a little hollandaise. However, there was still no meat on it. I told the waiter that I was fine eating it as is because my husband's meal was getting cold, but wanted them to know of the error. The server insisted on fixing it, and when it came back the meat was thrown haphazardly on top. Now the eggs that were nicely cooked were buried and no longer runny because they didn't replace the entire entree.
The server was very nice about it and took the plate off our bill, but it was a huge disappointment. On top of the mistakes made by the kitchen, ultimately both my entree & my husband's breakfast pizza were really bland--not much spice or herbs, or even salt. My hope is that the kitchen was having an "off" morning. I'd return to give them another chance. The restaurant is gorgeous, but they need to raise their game with the execution of their menu.
