The sibling restaurant to Island Creek Oyster Bar, Row 34 serves up a seafood-heavy menu in an industrial-inspired setting. We were celebrating my daughter’s college graduation. Food was fabulous. We did the tower of seafood as an appetizer: Oysters, clams, ceviche, shrimp and lobster. Three of us had the lobster roll, one had the crab cake salad and I had the Halibut. I would highly recommend this place!
This is an amazing restaurant in every way! The service was great, the food was delicious, the setting is wonderful.
Such a wonderful dining experience with outstanding, attentive service!
Fantastic local and from afar seafood. Good staff. Go.
The service was incredible as was the food. Your restaurant never disappoints. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
The food and ambiance were excellent. We loved the lobster rolls, shrimp pasta and fish and chips. The hosts were very strict about reservations - they wouldn’t sit us when we arrived 7 minutes before our reservations and the bar is reservation only as well. Understandable I guess but they could have been a bit more graceful in having us to wait. But in the end our server, the food and overall experience were great.
The waitress was extremely rude and rushed us out the door when the restaurant was not too busy on a Monday night.
Tuna Tartare, crabcake, cornbread, branzino fish of the day, oysters. All amazing. Brought my friend here as it was his first time in Boston. We tried a bit of everything and it was all delicious. Highly recommended tuna and the crabcakes! So so so good.
Nice atmosphere. Went for moms day. Everything was great including the home made jam. My only complaint was the music was too load and the genre was a misfit for lunch (loud pop music). We had to yell to hear each other. Jazz or classical at a lower volume would have been more appropriate for brunch on mother's day.
Excellent food and service!
Very nice selection of oysters and craft beers/ciders. A wine list with solid and reasonably priced choices but that also invites you to serve. Varied lunch menu ranging from burgers to crab rice bowls that pleased everyone at the table.
Very solid ceviche and seafood place with a great beer selection. The only cons was that french brioche ban was served really cold.
Very disappointed. We had lunch here a few years ago and it was delicious - so good that it was our first stop when back in Boston. Not sure what happened today but it was really disappointing. Maybe it’s because they are closing early for a special event- but the entire lunch felt rushed. Beyond feeling rushed I was still excited for lunch... and was again disappointed. I ordered the tuna burger. It looked nice but the burger itself was inedible. I don’t know what they did to it - it was definitely over-cooked and dry but the tuna was tough and chewy. I never do this - but I had to send it back. They offered me something else and I got the fish tacos. They can quickly - but we’re tasteless. Two people in our party got the $34 lobster roll. Very sad- lobster was sparse, it was over cooked, and the bun was dry. This is such a beautiful place and historically great food - but today was a total failure. If you are gonna close early for a special event and then do a poor job on lunch service, maybe you should just close for the entire day. Next time in Boston we will go somewhere else.
Birthday dinner was awesome. Free dessert is always nice. 10/10 would recommend
Excellent food and service. We were there for lunch (party of 7) at 1:30. Very hard to hear others until the restaurant thinned out about 2:30. Way too noisy. Otherwise great
Amazing seafood and amazing beer list. Price reflects quality though.
We made a reservation for 9:30pm for 5 people on Sunday evening. We arrived at the restaurant on time and were sat at our table. We sat there for almost 20 minutes before a server ever came to greet us, let alone take a drink order. When our server came over he asked if we had been helped by anyone and then told us that the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes so we had to order.
Your restaurant shouldn’t take reservations after 9:00 if your kitchen closes at 9:45. I completely understand as I have worked in a restaurant for over 10 years but frankly I was embarrassed by the way we were treated at Row 34. We were hosting friends from out of town and it was not an enjoyable dinner experience. Not to mention the fact that we spent close to $700.
The meals were very hit or miss. The mussels in coconut broth were a home run while the scallops were overly salted with too much mint and the delicate flavor of the scallops was lost. The house made gravlox was phenomenal (we could have eaten that all night long) while the shrimp po'boy bordered on embarrassing- we did not eat it after the first bite. There were some odd combinations on the plates for some dishes. Sweet potato chips were served with the tuna tartare which had so much (actually too much) sesame oil in it to seem more like an Asian inspired dish than would match with sweet potatoes and the aforementioned scallops were randomly served with plantain chips. Service was impeccable even on a beyond busy night. Our server exhibited the correct level of attentiveness, corrected the error of delivering incorrect food with speed and showed a high level of knowledge regarding the food and menu. We appreciated the gift of a dessert as we were there for a celebration- very thoughtful!! The butterscotch pudding was a surprise delight we would return for. Overall, they have a great raw bar and know how to not overcook their proteins. Foodies looking for a multi-course event may be underwhelmed but anyone looking to enjoy a well curated wine and beer list along with raw bar will be fully satisfied.
Best meal I’ve had in Boston! Amazing food, wonderful service, charming decor. Highly recommend.
The service and food was outstanding.
Food was very good, tasty with very nice presentation. Apps were excellent: raw oysters, pickled shrimp, and fish tacos. Entrees were cooked and seasoned well; lobster roll, handmade pasta with shrimp, and pan seared halibut. Seating and ambience were poor with bar ppl standing too close to tables and talking loudly over tables.
Tuna crudo crushed it. We had several other appetizers and dishes, none of which were bad, but the tuna was head and shoulders above the rest of the food. Chose the restaurant based on multiple people saying it was the best lobster roll in the city.
Our table wasn’t ready right away so we were able to hang by the bar and enjoy a drink from the impressive and expansive draft list. The female bar tender was so friendly and conversant. We were led to our table in a gorgeous dining room. The experience was wonderful. Oysters were impeccable and lobster roll was epic. We will absolutely come back when we are here again !
Always interesting cuisine and wine choices. Service was very friendly, but not well coordinated. We were approached several times by servers with food meant for other tables.
I come to Row 34 for the lobster roll... it's really the best around! Unfortunately, when we were there this week we felt very rushed. I was there with my team. We came in at mid-day, and the server was trying to rush us to order - even though we were all ordering off the mid-day menu. I suspect she was coming to the end of her shift. She transferred us over to someone else who was in a little less of a rush however, at one point they did say "I just wanted to let you know we have someone else who reserved this table in an hour". We never did get kicked out of the table... maybe when they realized we were there to spend a lot of money they felt it was ok to stay. This wasn't my favorite experience.
My wife and I have enjoyed countless meals here. The freshest oysters and clams, great cooked items, stellar wines & beers. The service is always On Point!
Excellent food and atmosphere!
Short and sweet review. The food was fresh, prepared perfectly and delicious. The service on the other hand was less than average. Management needs to train the staff to spend less time socializing with each other and more time paying attention to their guests.
Overall a very good experience. The atmosphere is fun and lively, the food is good and the service is usually strong. It was a busy lunch period so getting our order in initially was slow but then everything came promptly. The staff was very nice.
Catching up with a friend
Came here for dinner with a few friends visiting Boston from out of town. The service was excellent as was the food - in particular the tuna tartare and lobster roll! I'll be coming back again soon.
Loved the food and the atmosphere! My only complaint was the host forgot we were waiting for our table and it took a bit to be seated.
My team and I went to Row 34 for dinner following a conference. We made a reservation and were running late; this wasn't the biggest issue though, as the staff were very accommodating and understanding. The food was outstanding and the drink recommendations were great. Highly recommend Row 34 to anyone.
Lovely ambience to the restaurant, great food and lovely service.
I've been to Row 34 twice now for lunch. Both times have been a great experience, wonderful, attentive service, and delicious food! The salmon over avocado is excellent! The oysters and clams are delicious!
The service was excellent and the food was amazing. Would definitely go back again.
The food was impeccable. Lobster roll, tuna crudo, and the crab cake were absolute musts. Fresh and flavorful. Service was prompt but not the most friendly. Regardless, I'll still recommend to others because the food was outstanding.
Ordered lobster roll with fries. Received with chips. Sent back. Immediately lobster roll was returned to the table and was told fries would be right out. Took 15 minutes For fries to be served in only after I requested them again. This made for the aggravating dining experience.
Amanda was quite possibly the best server I’ve ever had. She was knowledgeable and personable and went out of the way to make the evening special.
Excellent service, and food. A bit noisy but other than that had a great time.
