Roti never disappoints and we love going there. The service is beyond friendly and the food is amazing. I think I've tried everything on the menu and it's all good!
Was there for a b day celebration. Everything was great. We ordered the Lamb Korma which was tasty and a chicken dish a bit spicy but good. The appetizers were wonderful. Calamari with a chutney sauce and yogurt dipping sauce. We also ordered Kachumber-Fresh tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, fresh herbs and lemon juice it was so good we told the waiter and the owner came over and gave us the ingredients.. let's see if I can make it as good. Desert was a house made
cashew ice cream and also a rice pudding that they comped unexpectedly.
Great place, and will be back..
We had a Tandoori Duck they offered on their specials menu and it was fabulous!
We had been here several years ago and the service and the food continues to be excellent. A great neighborhood restaurant in West Portal.
We had a birthday dinner at Roti last weekend and it was fantastic! We have eaten here before but on this occasion, we ordered a lot more than usual and everything was excellent! I'm not sure I've ever ordered friend calamari at an Indian restaurant, but I will ALWAYs order that here again in the future! The Tikka Masala, Vindaloo, and Korma were all outstanding and the service was on point. Thank you Roti! We'll see you again soon!
Favorite Indian restaurant by far!! Pricier than other Indian spots but still worth it!
Whenever I’m out of town for business and come home the first thing I do is go to Roti for dinner. Always great.
Every dish here is phenomenal. We have eaten here regularly for the past few months and have had a wonderful experience every time.
We introduced our friends to Indian food at Roti and they loved it!
Excellent neighborhood restaurant with quality everything! Owner’s hospitality is second to none. It’s hands down the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever eaten at!
Delicious. Especially love the lentils of the day. Very friendly service. Also great for lunch.
Great as always. Fantastic service, excellent food.
Amazing. Made it a point to go for their February special: roasted cauliflower!
We went back for the monthly special of a whole head of cauliflower with cream sauce. Yummy. We brought two friends along to indulge.
Haven't been here in quite a while and my last experience was GREAT, can't say the same for this visit. We were seated promptly and the first thing we noticed was how loud it was. Guess this is the "new normal". After reading the menu, we chose the following items; We started with Non Sweet Lassi's which were excellent; Garlic & Basil Naan (which was superb & loaded w/Garlic and Basil and piping hot & the Paratha, also wonderful; Crab cake appetizers, which were only 2 or 3 cakes, nothing to write home about and very, very small. The dipping sauce helped. Chicken Tikka Masala, skimpy bits of chicken, it tasted more like tomato soup, not rich and creamy; Lamb Korma which was o.k., tender w/a decent brown sauce of some sort; Murgh Madras (chicken curry) the best dish of all three w/the best flavoring; Aloo Gobi (Cauliflower & Potatoes), the worst of all our dishes. Another dish in a liquid pool of tomato sauce or something. Had absolutely no flavor. Even the basic Basmati rice left us cold. What used to be interesting in flavors and unique dishes has somehow become very "generic" in our opinion and left us all feeling a bit ~ blah ! Sorry Roti, but we have had better for a lot less $$.
We always go when they make the cauliflower special. This time it was a creamy sauce with peas. So yummy. I'm thinking of going back before the end of the month. Love the food.
Always great food and service. Many great dishes, but skip the ho hum crab cakes.
Excellent. Had a wonderful meal and will certainly return again.
The staff, especially the owner, seemed distracted and preoccupied. They weren’t in tune with us or many of the other diners. The most disturbing was when our server started to gather our leftovers to box up. She accidentally dropped half a lemon from one of our plates. The owner walked by, picked up the lemon and put it on my husband’s plate! He never addressed us or said anything to the server. We were shocked that he would pick something off the floor and put it on a customer’s plate. We expressed our shock to the server - she had no reaction or response. It was like they were zombies without any emotion. Really made me wonder about their sanitary practices in general (like, what happens in the kitchen or areas we can’t see?!?) and their low health score. Eek. We won’t go back nor would we recommend this place.
ROTI is our favorite place to eat in San Francisco! The menu is both traditional and fresh. Flavors are unique and exciting. The monthly specials add variety to an already-special array of superb Indian dishes.
A neighborhood gem. The best Indian food in SF. The owner is wonderful -greeting the guests and making sure everything makes for a lovely evening.
The food was pretty bad. Its hard to mess up a samosa but this was officially the worst samosa Ive ever had. They should have at least added some salt to it. The overall quality of the food was really poor.
Great specials are offered each month that are worth watching for. Manager is very engaged with the quality and service and gets to know his clientele to check in as to how you are enjoying the food and experience. One of our favorite neighborhood restaurants.
Roti is one of my favorite places to dine. We order the Roti's Feast which is great because it is an assortment of the best dishes they have: Assorted Appetizers, Mixed Tandoori, Murgh Masala, Dal, Pulao, Kachumber, Raita, Naan, Kheer and Chai. It also provides for delicious leftovers.
As usual, the food at Roti is excellent and inventive. One of the monthly specialties this time was a curried halibut that was a bit zingy (just right). And their bhindi masala (okra) was delicious as always. (The bengan bharta [eggplant] is my other favorite among the vegetarian curries.) This is by far our favorite neighborhood restaurant and one of our favorite SF restaurants.
Delicious dinner as always. Thank you!!
One of our favorites and did not disappoint. Service was a bit slow this time....
We went early so it was quiet and service is excellent, as well as the food.
Yummy food with great selection of biryanis, and the lamb biryani is really great. Seems to be a favorite neighborhood place, place was full on a Sunday evening in January. Worth the trip if you don't live near and don't even know this area of SF. A treat.
First off BIG thank you to the Host for accomadating 3 of us when my original reservation was for 2. We arrived around 6:30 and the place was already packed. The food was excellent. We had 2 chicken dishes that I wish I can remember the names and lamb dish. All were really good. We also got the mixed Naan plate along with thali plate. Great place can’t wait to go back.
Solid West Portal staple year after year.
We were frankly disappointed this time, having had better meals at Roti in the past. samosas undercooked, soup too salty, other dishes a bit bland. Hopefully just a bad night.
Best Indian food in SAn Francisco. Owner is very kind. The waiters and waitresses are great
They sat us right away and the food was amazing! Like, seriously, so good.
A wonderful experience with delicious food and attentive service !
We came here to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary and requested a quiet table. Our request was granted! In addition to our very delicious meal of perfectly cooked vegetable pakora, aloo gobi, and tandoori chicken, the owner sent a complimentary dessert of peppermint ice cream and cinnamon ice cream. We're sure to continue going to such a hospitable restaurant!
We always enjoy our meals at Roti. The food is flavorful and the menu offers an abundance of choices.
This was my second visit to Roti and the food was as delicious, subtle and nuanced as I remember from the first visit. The vegetable korma & goat cheese naan were outstanding. Service was attentive and prompt but not overbearing. Looking forward to my next meal at Roti!
We met there for a special birthday celebration for one of our business friends and expected to have great time and decent Indian food. We had great Indian food and great value for the money. It was birthday celebration that we will never forget and now great spot for Indian cuisine.
